Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi. As others have already mentioned good points. It's hard to get on and off the rear seat for me also. I am 5'10. But once on and sitting in saddle position it's very comfortable. Sideways sitting I don't think will be comfortable for older people. Sometimes they will sit as they don't want to disappoint us. But because they are uncomfortable will get tired or strained. As a plus the low end torque makes it easy to ride for the rider even with uneven load. Would suggest a Test Ride with your parents and see.Originally posted by ViperXR View Post

In terms of seat comfort, it is good. Its fairly large and broad. So, it easily accommodates a well built adult.
Mate, you need to consider two things as below.Originally posted by ViperXR View PostHey Guys,
I've been planning to get Fz25 this year and have my heart set on it. However I am concerned if my mom or other relatives would be able to sit side saddle on it?
If you could help me out with your personal experiences, that'd be highly appreciated.
Thanks a ton.
1. Climbing and sitting on taller seat
My dad finds is very difficult/impossible to climb onto the seat as he has knee problems. Though the seat is wide, climbing itself is a task as he can't lift his leg over a certain height. Some old people may also find the taller seating position intimidating.
2. Foot rest option/solution for ladies who sit on one side.
The stock footrest for ladies who sit on one side of bike as pillion is too small and not practical for keeping both legs. Also I'm not sure about the presence of side foot rest as an accessory, like the ones seen on 100/150 cc bikes, for ladies who sit on one side of the pillion but that may be taken care by welding one, if there's no such official accessory. IIRC, it was done by someone in the forum.
Cheers!

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Yes even I think that there's something else wrong with the top end of the motor. It might have been caused by running hard with tight tappets.Originally posted by slopegatri View PostSeems like valve clearance is not the only issue and something else is also not working as it should. because clearances going down within 1000km is not normal. and even with tight clearances performance is not that noticeable in my experience, not until 110kmh atleast.
try this, this won't not solve anything but it will clear some doubts for me- check valve clearances early morning when engine is completely cooled down overnight. then go for a ride ~ 40-50km try to rev as much as possible. check clearances again in hot condition. it's difficult and you might burn your hand like i did. but give it a try. clearances should increase in hot condition (not usually, but for this engine it does increase).
Once again I was having a sleepless night, I thought why not try again when it was quiet with no differences. I was earlier trying a 'go/no go' adjustment, but this time I went with Kirankarunan's method of feeling a drag (not rough). I set it at 0.06/0.08 again, perhaps I'll try when hot tonight after going back home, although I'm apprehensive of doing it as I've burnt my hand earlier while changing oil.
There's Pirelli Angel CT, Michelin pilot sporty, Masseter and the zappers in the stock size.Originally posted by arsenalfan001 View PostFront is yet to be changed, I am unable to source a suitable tyre in stock size. If any of you have any suggestions, kindly let me know.
Thank you!
Masseters are very hard to get in 100/80, most common ones are the zappers and pilot sporty. Else you could upsize to 110/70 in angel CT as it is less curved than other tires in 110/70.Last edited by Shashank K R; 01-23-2020, 10:24 PM.

The last few months have been torrid for my bike.
0.06/0.08 worked for about 1000kms, and then performance started going down again.
Then tried setting it back to the same, but 3 hours later, frustration got the best of me, and I thought I had set 0.06/0.08, when it was not. The next 2 weeks were frustrating as well.
Once again, I thought I'll start clean and tried adjusting them again. This time I adjusted them calmly to 0.07/0.10 without much fuss or frustration. Unfortunately, the bike didn't feel good at all. Just for this, I've been having sleepless nights for the last week or so thinking about what to do. Literally at my wit's end now. I'm not happy with the performance at all, it is nothing like how it was when it was new-ish.
I am not sure if I'm doing it incorrectly, or there is some issue with my bike. I had no such troubles adjusting valves on the Gixxer and Unicorn 160, but I'm doubting my skills in this aspect now.
Any folks from Bengaluru willing to help me out with checking my bike and adjusting the clearances properly? I would be very grateful.

Hoping it's not some major issue with the valvetrain.Last edited by Shashank K R; 01-23-2020, 12:13 PM.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Just to update you all, changed the rear tyre to MRF Masseter (140/70 R17) manufactured in 43rd week of 2019. Total cost was 4200 INR. On MRF online website, the price mentioned as 3900 INR, you can see the price here. It was changed at a MRF Tyre and Service store in BE-24, Salt Lake, Kolkata. They had no idea about different Masseter compounds available (MCT and X). Wheel balancing was not done, the manager mentioned that for motorcycles, machines to balance wheels are not available to him or anywhere in Kolkata!Originally posted by arsenalfan001 View PostHi,
After 2.5 years and about 17.5K KMs on stock tyres, I am looking to change my tyres. Main reason is that the bike is not stable under hard braking. My usage is strictly commuting with one or two long distance ride (~500KM round trip) a year. I am not looking to upsize the tyres as I feel the stock size is adequate for the power on offer.
If budget is not a concern and if I expect at least 15K mileage out the pair,
1. What are my options if I am going for stock size?
2. Is it advisable to downgrade the rear?
3. Post changing the tyres, anything else that I would need to perform
4. And finally, any suggestions for a shop around Salt Lake area in Kolkata would be helpful
Thank you for your help.
Front is yet to be changed, I am unable to source a suitable tyre in stock size. If any of you have any suggestions, kindly let me know.
Thank you!

Check this link

I think you should be able to source one for cheap in Pudupet (chennai), and get it done there. Do update here, if you ever get it done. It's been on my mind for sometime too.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Yes, I have seen a you tube video of fz25 with rtr belly pan customisation. But the guy had to cut and adjust the belly pan to fit in for FZ25. The outcome looked good but not that great. I have also seen with Autologue belly pan, which costs around 2,500. This seems to a perfect fit though. I will try in pudupet if I can get r15 v2 or Fazer 25 belly pan.Originally posted by ramdante View PostI've seen a picture of a Fz25 with the prev genRTR 180s belly pan. I have checked for the engine belly in Lluvia industries and in Autologue, but still not satisfied. I would need some help if any other references can be shared here.
