Yes that can be installed from the 390. If I reckon the handlebar length and diamter are the same for the Duke 250. Also, the newer ones have longer mirror stalk compared to the older Duke series.

    Cheers!

comes to correct riding style. when you are pulling in the clutch when at rpm around 4k+ then 'blip' the throttle as you down shift. don't just close throttle abruptly and pull in the clutch.. doing so will result in the behavior you are noticing. it probably has to do with the sudden vacuum created.
read about rev-matching for the correct technique when it comes to downshifting.

As for the tappet noise, try visiting the dealer Auto Service.. I've heard they are more helpful. Talk to the owner Mr.Venkat.

Thanks for the reply... While I do understand the principles of blipping the throttle & rev-matching, I faced this problem even while doing all of that... This problem was only applicable when I had to suddenly stop, say, when in traffic...

Anyways, the service personnel accepted the issue & turns out it was related to the valve tappet noise... That issue was resolved, however, the tappet noise still exists... This is the 2nd time the clutch-case has been opened & i don't want to destroy my engine oil anymore... I'll wait for the 2nd service to fix all these issues at once.

My first full tank gave me about 26 kmpl most of it in traffic. Im not a sane rider
Hey nisnth/everyone, even I have the same issue where FC gets stuck at 0.2 or 0.3 on my duke 250. Please let me know How did you get it resolved?

Hey , Thank you for the feedback .

I am also seeing a cloudy layer in my console every time I step out into sunlight . Could be due to some water trapped inside . Have you felt anything of the same ?

Also is there anything the service guys can do to reduce the fan sound . Hopefully .

I also took the bike out for a short highway ride and the bike is real fun when you are away from the annoying traffic .

    Regards,

    S

Congrats bro, and happy miles ahead.

Helmet looks cool with the touch of Duke's theme.

    Re: 2017 Duke 250

Hello everybody... New joinee here... I wanted to share a couple of stuff about my new Duke 250.

I bought my bike 2 months ago.. In Bengaluru... And right off the start I was feeling a bit odd about it.

    1. Valve tappet noise - During the riding-in period, i drove my bike across the rpm band, didn't lug it & mostly kept it below 7.5k rpm. But as the days progressed, the valve sound (unmistakable tik-tik) went on increasing until it became an annoyance. Even with me telling the service person to repair that in 1st service, they didn't and after a customer complaint/mail to KTM they finally agreed to take it in... Got it fixed in 3 days (LONG STORY SHORT). Until, 2 weeks later, its back again.... Has anyone else faced this issue? Incessant tappet noise that bugs me... No power loss, its just horrible noise.

    2. Engine stall in cold condition - Freakish problem i face after i got it from the valve tappet correction the first time. Basically, in cold condition (upto 5 bars on the display), the engine starts perfectly, but if i move the vehicle (till around ~4-6k rpm in 1/2/3rd gear) and press the clutch, while going off the throttle (imagine arriving at a busy cross road), the engine stalls... Takes around 5-10 seconds to start again. Almost got run over by a bus because of that. This problem does not exist in warm condition. Does anybody else have this problem?

I really hope someone can help me out on this... The service station guy can't understand the technical details much & KTM refuses to properly reply with the issue at hand... What should I do?

    Thanks in advance.

[QUOTE=dineshaugustin;1300398]I highly doubt you can retrofit the 390 headlamp, but if you see in practical stance, its is not an upgrade. Instead you can try with much better bulbs from Philips and Osram. Also, you can get proper plug and play type led bulbs.
Based on the feedback from 390 owners, it is not so great in terms of illumination.

Thanks for letting me know bro
    cheers :-)

Hello fellow riders, my name is Nakul and I'm a software engineer based in Delhi. I recently bought my first ever motorcycle in the form of KTM Duke 250 about a month ago and have clocked about 900 kilometres on it. I went for the orange black color as it looks sportier to me than the white one. Speaking of my riding experience so far, I'm pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to ride. I feel like I've been riding it for ages. Read on below for more:

    1. Acceleration: Compared to my previous experience of riding my friends' Hero Passion and RE Thunderbird, the duke picks up pace rather quickly. For the first week, I was careful with the throttle and have gradually understood it's behavior. A slight twist of the throttle is all it takes to overtake regular cars and bikes in traffic. Most of the times I'm in 3rd and 4th gears which are good for puttering around in the city between 25-50 kmph. Respecting the break-in period, the top speed I have achieved so far is 123 kmph in 6th gear at about 7500 RPM. I just got the first free service done yesterday(apparently, only labour charges were free, the service cost me 1600 rupees). I'll push the bike more in the coming days to see how far it can go. Having said that, it can cruise comfortably all day at 100-110 kmph.
    2. Braking: I apply both brakes simulaneously and progressively, being gentler on the rear brake compared to the front one. In a couple of panic braking scenarios(blame potholes and idiot auto-rickshaw guy), the combined braking strategy worked well for me and the bike came to a stop quickly. Having said that, I might be wrong due to my limited experience as I haven't ridden any other bike with better brakes. I've read in reviews that the brakes could have been better, it should have had ABS etc. I guess If you ride sensibly, these brakes will suffice.
    3. Handling: The bike is very agile and changes directions quickly. It will inspire confidence in you to try to corner faster and lean more. The suspnsion soaks up bumps well, so no complaints here too.
    4. Looks & Sound: Right from the moment of riding out of the showroom to this day, I get asked by people questions like which bike is this? Is it the new Duke? Looks so cool etc. It's sharp and edgy design makes it seem like a much more premium category bike. Also the new side mounted exhaust sounds really cool especially at higher RPMs, in fact much better than what the duke 200's underbelly exhaust produces.
    5. Should you buy one? If you're a new rider like me, upgrading from a sub 150 cc commuter bike or are getting back to riding after a long gap, I would recommend this bike whole heartedly. On the other hand, If you have experience of riding a performance commuter 200cc bike, I would suggest you to go for the Duke 390.
As far as my intended usage is concerned, I plan on commuting to office about twice a week and doing long distance trips on my Duke on weekends(I'm also looking for a group/company of riders to ride along with in NCR area. Please guide me If you know one). Now time for some photos:

    Congrats for the new ride
Vibration near the foot peg will be mainly due to insufficient chain/sprocket lubrication and also due to incorrect chain slack. Please check with ASC.

Heating : I was hoping KTM to rectify the heating issues but its carried on to the 250 as well . But as I have read other ktm user's comments its quite a normal thing . I feel it more towards my left leg and now I am getting used to it . Also once the coolant temperature reach the max bar the fan kicks in with a not so pleasant sound . Have to live with it , as am not sure if it will be corrected during the first service.

Comfort: One of the best seating position and you can swiftly move in city traffic . Even pillion seat is comfortable though you have to hold on to grab rails at times.

Performance : Accelerates pretty quickly but much more linear is what I believe ( haven't ridden a 200 or 390 before :P). Exhaust node sound could have been more powerful .

Overall its a pretty good bike for daily commuting as well cruising on highways . Still have to explore a lot and see what it has to offer . Please let me know if you feel the same and if there is anything that I can do to solve these minor issues
