I'm having a BS4 Duke 250 bought on January, 2020. So which is the right manual for my bike? (I'm pretty confused with their nomenclature)Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View Post

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

But I'm having confusion on how to pinpoint the correct version number of my bike in https://www.ktm.com/en/service/manuals/ and also in multiple places in https://www.ktm.com/in/
In the page 3 of the repair manual that you've shared, how can I find the correct model number of my BS4 Duke 250(Indian version)?

2017 Duke 250
Completed 700 kms on my new duke250 so far the experience is good with the bike except that the rear brake is producing some hissing noise specially in the lower speeds. Maximum speed i touched as of now is 95kmph. The manual suggests not to cross 7,500 rpm untill first 1000 kms, But 90 kmph comes around 6.5 k rpm i guess correct me if iam wrong. The chain is soo noisy need to correct it at the first service.
The only thing iam little bit dissapointed is the engine sound O man its soooo smooth like the honda unicorn[emoji15]🧐 belive me you cant even a little bit of engine sound above 75 kmph. Is this the same case with the BS4 model???
This Bs6 Duke250 is just ktm branded with japanese engine bike[emoji12][emoji16]

@truelypulsarian
Congrats on the new bike.
Dont worry too much, just ride the bike for a couple thousand km and you will get used to it. As for the noise, cant say for sure without hearing it. maybe take the green dishwash scrubber and clean the disc rotor with some soapy water and wipe it clean and see if the noise persists.
Coming to the speeds.. keep it under the rpm's specified.. you can easily hit a 100+ with the rpms still under the company recommended value during run in.. just that let the bike warm up (4 bars on the temp reading) before you whack the throttle open.Last edited by s1d; 06-21-2020, 05:32 PM.

Re: 2017 Duke 250
Well, TP, things evolve and things evolve for good, don't they? For what they're worth, making things smoother is better, especially KTM-Bajaj have worked on improving the smoothness of their entire range. Talk about the rough 220 of yesteryears and current gen 220s, the smoothness observed is night and day, it all has to do with the balancing of the harmonic oscillations within the engine. Enjoy your motorcycle, whatever you do, don't over rev, and take it to upper limit speeds every now and then, absolutely nothing to worry.Originally posted by truelypulsarian View PostCompleted 700 kms on my new duke250 so far the experience is good with the bike except that the rear brake is producing some hissing noise specially in the lower speeds. I do leave the engine at idle for 1-2 mins after i start the bike before every ride.
Hi VJ so can i touch 90+ speeds from now frequently?Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostWell, TP, things evolve and things evolve for good, don't they? You know the D250 is much smoother than my fz version 2 kuddos to the ktm for making their current bikes more refined. Even the gear shifts are very smoother for this the reason might be the present of slipper clutch.PULSAR 180 DTSI- 2007

Yup, no issues. You can cruise at that speeds. Just make sure you aren't redlining that's all there is to it.Originally posted by truelypulsarian View PostHi VJ so can i touch 90+ speeds from now frequently?

2017 Duke 250
Duke 260 BS6 review after 1000kms (Post 1st service)
Bought the bike in the month of may the intention of buying this bike is only for highway touring purpose thats it.
Initially tought if buying the 390 but later tought that its an over kill for my usage.
1) Buying experience:- its an ok ok type of experience at the begumpet KTM showroom nothing much excited. The PDI could have been better because after i came to home from the showroom i observed that the saree guard screw is loose and its making banging noise when ridden on uneven roads. So immediately tightened the screw at the local mechanic shop.
2) comfort:- The bike is very comfort the seats are well built and they wide enough to accomodate our full body posture without any issues.
Seating position is not fully upright but its comfortable enough to ride for long distances. The slightly rear set footpegs are little bit discomfort for me not a major concern just a little bit minor one.
3) Looks:- The bike surely a eye catchy one on the road especially the grey colour in the BS6 lineup. Lots of headturns at the traffic signal.
I think it looks much better than the 390 [emoji6]
4) Performance:- The 250 cc 30 BHP single cylinder motor is punchy enough to satisfy our power thrust, In no time it reaches speeds above 90 kmph just like a mini rocket. Thr top speed achieved by me till now is 122 kmph.
5) Refinement Levels:- Belive me its much refined than the hondas and yamahas i bet my words. I own a yamaha fz version 2 which is more than 2 year old, The bs6 dukes engine is much much refined than my fz. Dont trust me?? just have a test ride of it thats it you will fall love with its refinement levels.
6) Gear shifts :- The gear shifts are precise and very smooth i think its because of slipper clutch. No false neutrals or harder gear shifts.
Kuddos to the slipper clutch as it works like a charm[emoji1305][emoji1319][emoji1303]
7) Quality of the bike :- The ktm’s quality is good but not that great. My cusion brother owns BMW G310 R the quality of that bike is superb. I know its not fair to compare bmw with the KTM, But for the price we are paying the build quality can be some what better.
8) Instrument console:- Yes its a dated speedo meter but provides a lot of information to the rider. But ktm should have updated a little bit interms of desgin and functionality in the BS6 lineup.
9) issues faced till now:- The issue i faced right after my bike delivery is that irritating plastic buzzing sound at the lower rpms. Forget to mention this issue during the first service. Just a few days back went to the svc and reported the issue the mechanic opened the front headlight assembly and he had put some double sided tape no more sounds after that.
Some times the rear brake makes slight hiss sound at lower speeds dont know whats the reason.
Apart from this i havent faced any issues with the bike. The first service costed me about 1700 rs and its ok for a 250cc bike.
10) Fuel Economy:- Iam getting around 30 kmph till now which is not at all bad for this kind of bike. Have to test on highways for accurate and precise results.
Value for money :- I think yes its the most powerfull 250 cc in the current market and also the after sales of the ktm improved a lot, I can see many service centers in my hyderabad city.
Even across our country the ktm service centers are plenty enough.
Any doubts and suggestions to me are always welcome[emoji1303]Last edited by truelypulsarian; 07-10-2020, 11:31 AM.PULSAR 180 DTSI- 2007

Re: 2017 Duke 250
Good to know the refinement has increased. That and better brakes are probably the only things that this bike really needed.Originally posted by truelypulsarian View PostDuke 260 BS6 review after 1000kms (Post 1st service)

Re: 2017 Duke 250
[MENTION=23756]truelypulsarian[/MENTION], the refinement levels will degrade over time to an extent. Periodic maintenance, especially of the chain and engine oil will help retain the smoothness for a long time to come.
