    - Vibration at 4k - The vibration is noticeable for me. This vibration also causing noise from the fairing in left side.
    - The Instrument Cluster has water droplets - Little or more, but it is fogged up ever since we received it.
    - Gets muddy very easily. Need to find a solution for this.
    - Bike feels comfortable so far.
    - Chain had no lubrication whatsoever when we received it and it was making noise. As soon as we sprayed it, the noise was gone.
    - The build quality feels great except for the plastic cover near keyhole area. Its just super low quality and feels out of place.
    - The marking near keyhole was gone. It is also easily scratchable with fingernails.

    My Questions:
    1. What can we do to get rid of this issue of mud spray all over the bike? Its even comes on the pillion seat.
    2. Should we get it serviced as soon as it completes 150 days(5 months) or wait for 7.5k km?
    3. Can the Instrument Cluster be stopped by something?
    4. The bike easily attracts the dust - specially the tank. Any solution to avoid it?

The overall feel of the bike is superb as compared to my previous RS200 and hoping that it is worthy bike for my need i.e. Touring. Will be going on a 400km weekend ride next week.

Also would like to note that this thread helped a lot in making the buying decision. Keep it up guys!

Yes agree with you on the quality especially the keyhole area felt super cheap and out of place.while down shifting i hear a loud thack.Which pains me.It's a brand new bike. Some vibrations.I feel The brakes are not adequate to stop this machine what do you say ??

Engine tappet noise is an unmistakable sound you can hear from an engine. Its a very metallic sound that feels like two metal pieces are hitting each other at a high pitch. Like chin-chin-chin-chin-chin or tin-tin-tin-tin-tin. Its noise is proportional with engine rpm. As engine rpm increases, the sound and the frequency of the chin-chin/tin-tin increases.

In mine its very loud. And they couldn't fix it after opening 2 times. I'm living with it now, I'll personally stand next to them & make them open the engine during my 2nd service. There's a place called Auto Service in Bengaluru who allow you to be next to the vehicle during repairs.

Which things I should look for, any possible main/permanent issues that will make me regret buying it?

I had a RS200. I bought in the same month of launch and I think first batch of the bikes are usually experimental/incomplete(in simple language, has some bugs) which are solved in later batches. So as per my thinking, RS had such annoying issues.

Is there such case with this bike? I know it's been just few months since launch, but maybe some of you feel that there is such thing as first batch issues?

PS: Apologies in advance if this is the wrong thread to post, but I thought owners will be able to point out such things in detailed manner.
Yes. Some quality issues. Nothing Major yet.

Have heard that the console fogs up in the rains.

    The chain noise.

Some vibration that loosens some nuts..

Hello everybody... New joinee here... I wanted to share a couple of stuff about my new Duke 250.

I bought my bike 2 months ago.. In Bengaluru... And right off the start I was feeling a bit odd about it.

    1. Valve tappet noise - During the riding-in period, i drove my bike across the rpm band, didn't lug it & mostly kept it below 7.5k rpm. But as the days progressed, the valve sound (unmistakable tik-tik) went on increasing until it became an annoyance. Even with me telling the service person to repair that in 1st service, they didn't and after a customer complaint/mail to KTM they finally agreed to take it in... Got it fixed in 3 days (LONG STORY SHORT). Until, 2 weeks later, its back again.... Has anyone else faced this issue? Incessant tappet noise that bugs me... No power loss, its just horrible noise.
    2. Engine stall in cold condition - Freakish problem i face after i got it from the valve tappet correction the first time. Basically, in cold condition (upto 5 bars on the display), the engine starts perfectly, but if i move the vehicle (till around ~4-6k rpm in 1/2/3rd gear) and press the clutch, while going off the throttle (imagine arriving at a busy cross road), the engine stalls... Takes around 5-10 seconds to start again. Almost got run over by a bus because of that. This problem does not exist in warm condition. Does anybody else have this problem?

I really hope someone can help me out on this... The service station guy can't understand the technical details much & KTM refuses to properly reply with the issue at hand... What should I do?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

Even i am hearing some tik tik sound from the engine .Initially i thought it was from the chain . The service guys adjusted the chain and also made some finer maintenance to some loose nuts . But its still there and as you said its very annoying and taking away all the fun in riding .

How did you found out it was coming from the valve tappet? Because now i am feeling that the sound could be due to the valves . Did it take so much time to get it repaired?

    Thanks and regards,
    S

[Skip This part if you dont want to know my backstory]
My Review of the Duke 250-2017
Firstly i want to tell my experience about motorcycles.I've loved motorcycles from my childhood. This is like a dream come true to me.I've lived with a Yamaha R-15 for about an year.I liked it a little bit. Then my cusion bought a duke 200.At that moment I chose. If I buy a motorcycle it should be KTM.

My good experience with the bike so far:
    1.It doesn't feel like any KTM.It feels different (A cross breed between a 200 and a 390)
2.It's tamable nature is very friendly
    3.Slipper clutch
4.LOOKS(how can one hate this looks)
5.Really better planted motorcycle than the Duke 200
6.For crusing the engine doesn't feel stressed at all
7.Slightly over priced (compared to the completion)which makes this particular model a little bit exclusive
8.Superior Headlamps it's really puts you in ease while driving at Night
9.The clutch work is far more superior than the duke 200
    10.The seats(This should've been the first point)
11.Engine refinement is at a whole new level on this model

Cons so far:I have zero regrets buying this sinister (except for a few)
1.Engine tends to heat up so quickly for city rides it's a bummer
2.Could've offered better tires at this price point
3.Should've offered ABS like the European model
    4.Exhaust Note is really silent
5.Vibration sneaks in now and then
6.In the frame the welding is visible so it's a let down in overall build quality
7.The plastic at the keyhole feels very very cheap and it's going to break off any time

More photos to come in the future as i ride more.Drive safe.Always wear the gears necessary.
    CHEERS 😀

just two days ago,i noticed there's an oil leak from the top part of the engine,i then send back to the dealer for them to fix it for me.
they did not replace the gasket seal, but they're using some sort of gasket sealant/liquid seal to seal it. Drove it for a day,and noticed there's still leak.
went back to them and they said they will order the gasket kit from KTM and replace it for me.
My issue is before i send in the bike to them, there's no whirring sound coming from the engine/somewhere around it.
-now when im traveling at low speed,EG: 20-40kmph,it does not have that sound
-when the speed is approaching 60kmph all the way to the top speed, the whirring sound will start to occur
-the sound sounded like when the front fender is being pressed on the tyre while it's rolling (if u get what i mean),that kind of whirring sound
-it may be there previously or it doesnt exist until i send in the bike,i asked the dealer about this and they told me that because this bike is a single cylinder bike and i'm aware of it,the sound came from the camshaft..(i dont think so,if its the camshaft it should be tickin/knocking noise isn't it?
-and the chain was loose previously and they adjusted it for me
-now the funny thing is,i was able to hit 130/40kmph full throttle, now seems like it's maxing out at 110kmph and not willing to go further, and the RPM is only at 7.5k..
-is it because the chain was adjusted too tight?

My bike is only 3/4 weeks old and clock in 1.3k KM only..
now it's having all those issue which normally will occur after at least 2/3 years...

Sorry for the long post, appreciate some input from you guys.. i'm from malaysia by the way.
    Hey ,

I am also facing the same issue , a ringing kind a sound from the left side . Its just been 1 week after the first service and I took the bike again to the service center to rectify this . They said some bolt is loose and also tightened the chain .

The sound is still there and its not giving the same riding satisfaction as before . The service guys said there is no serious sound and infact they are not hearing anything .

Still not sure what is causing this . As you said the sound becomes more evident at higher speeds .

    Regrads,
    S

The chain noise bit is a common issue. It started after the chain was adjusted for me as well. Can't help but feel some wear and tear is happening, but when i told this to the guys servicing the bike, all i got was a headnod and nothing else. Not entirely sure, but some tinkering with the tightness of the chain might help.
