[Ownership Thread]: Yamaha Fazer 250 - Ownership Experience Thread

Though this isn't an ownership from my side. Seeing there isn't a dedicated ownership thread, decided to keep it as a flame starter for now. Post any Bhpian's ownership experience, would be glad to add it to the page.

Enough has been said about the FZ 250, and the Fazer doesn't differ any significantly from its naked counterpart. The one area where this bike excels is the presence. Definitely feels, looks and adds snob value to one's motorcycle collection. That being said, my ride with this bike was quite pleasing and the relaxed handlebar position, though a little on the wider side, wouldn't be a easy go nature with every rider out there, but for the tourer in one, the additional fairing over the naked counterpart, wider bars definitely gets brownie points. So, without further ado, here are some on-hand, showroom pictures of the SOULFUL CYAN. Price on road here for the bike at Hyderabad is 1.50 Lakhs



The wide handlebar with an SUV like stance, definitely a plus. Good for some, definitely not good for some.








Neatly chisled. Though from reviews and spy shots the bike did appear bulkier; what's surprising is, when viewed in person, she's definitely not the intimidating kind, she can do all the things that the Fazer 150 can do, but with a little panache. But still, the design is a hit or miss.








Good day, bad day, sad day, happy day, any day! She just gives you light.














Comfortable seats! Neither too hard nor too soft. I personally love the way Yamaha has done their seat job, neatly recessed seats and flat seats. Definitely a job well done.








Always wear a helmet, no matter inside the showroom or outside the showroom

I loved the looks of the bike the day it came out. I too liked the Cyan color Eagerly waiting for ownership experiences here.

I had been to a Yamaha Showroom today to take a test ride. Unfortunately, they haven't received the test bike yet, so, couldn't take a test ride There were just two bikes on display.

I agree to what you said. In person, I didn't find the bike bulkier as it seems in the pictures and videos. The front fairing is much narrower. Rather, I found the front fairing to be very aerodynamic and functional. The whole fairing converges at the front edge of the headlight unit. Should positively help in wind protection. The design is quirky though, with a love it hate it style, but, definitely has a personality of its own and draws customers towards it. Found couple of people enquiring about the bike.

The Rhythmic Red is actually darker than what it looks in pictures and has a matte finish. Wish they had launched the Yamaha Race Blue too, it would have sold like hot cakes. Even, the showroom guys were like, "Sir, the Soulful Cyan is better :P ". The Iron Man theme just doesnt go with this bike

As I had earlier owned a R15 V2.0, there was a natural instinct to compare the fit and finish with it. I wish the fit and finish was comparable to R15 Felt some of the plastic joints could have been better. There were no huge gaps or so, rather, the plastic overlaps were not finished and scream cost cutting. The switches looked okay, but clicks were good. Tried shaking the Headlight unit(as FZ25 owners had complained of it shaking over bad patches of roads) and found it rock solid. There are some flexes with the plastics in the rear( so the concerns are true from FZ25 owners), but no one has complained of any issues with it. Even the ones who have ridden 5000kms plus have faced no problems. Mirrors are wide; visiblity shouldn't be a problem. The handle bar mirror mount points are still there, so if anyone wants to fix a mobile mount, can easily do so.

I had seen the LED headlights of one of the customer's bike at night and it definitely is more powerful compared to the FZ25. The beam throw was also good.

It costs 147000 in Odisha, including 777 for extended warranty. A price any competition can hardly beat.

To be honest, I kind of liked the bike Waiting for the test ride though.



I forgot to mention two things. The LCD display is now raised and tilted towards the rider. So, it should be more visible compared to the one on FZ25.

I doubt we can fix a engine bash plate under the Fazer 25. I felt there is no space to accomodate one. That leaves the exhaust chamber just under the engine vunerable to our mountaneous speed breakers. :/

If you check FZ25 ownership thread, you will come to know that read tire hugger does not do is job properly. On wet roads lot of dirt is thrown not only on pillion but also on the biker coming behind you. The put similar hugger here and put it up for touring ;( .. I have seen some FZ models putting a complete rear hugger. May be we have to do the same for this too

Agreed. Someone had suggested to go for a Pulsar tire hugger. Not, sure how far that was helpful. But, someone someday is going to crack this puzzle

Ok, this is a bit off topic. But, it's related to Sales and Service Experience of Yamaha, which would be helpful to people planning either to buy or to service their bikes.


This was couple of months back. Green City Yamaha, Sarjapur Road, Bangalore is closest to my home, so my natural instinct was to visit the place. As I went directly from work, so I went in my car in formals to enquire about FZ25. The showroom is big, with a glass panels dividing the service and waiting area. The marketing executive was good, even offered me a bottle of water(sign of a good salesperson). As, I had no helmet with me at that time, they gave me a helmet for the test ride. Post ride discussion was good. I liked the bike a lot,but wanted some wind protection, and as I knew Yamaha was going to launch Fazer 25 in couple of months, so thought would wait for it. Overall, a good experience then.

Today, I called them up to enquire about Fazer 25. Now, the experience was completely different. Someone, answered the call and sounded rude and arrogant. He told me its 163000 onroad. I asked, does that include extended warranty? He said, Yes with extended warranty only(as if I was supposed to know myself). I asked, "How about accessories" ? He started with leg guard, seat cover, bash plate, etc. I was puzzled, how can someone fix a leg guard on a faired bike. When, I asked about the same, he just disconnected the call !!!. I waited for sometime to check whether he calls back or not. He didn't. I called back and asked him of the same, he said let me confirm about leg guard. After confirming from someone, he said no not possible. Till now, his voice was extremely rude as if he is doing some favour to me. I said, 'Ok, I shall come over there and discuss'. He just disconnected the call again blantly.

So, here is the thing guys. These guys have started doing customer profiling. What this means is, if you are dressed well and look like you can afford a bike, they would treat you nicely. If you call them up, they treat you like s**t. I had a similar experience with Manor Motors, Berhampur, Odisha when I called them up today. Seems like they are diluting the Yamaha brand and would definitely turn off many buyers. It's just sad but true.

After calling Green City Yamaha, I called Perfect Riders, Lalbagh Road, Bangalore. I had bought my R15 V2.0 from there long back and my experience with sales and service was very good with them for 8 months, till I sold my bike. But, I didnt mention mention this to them upfront, because I wanted to know how these guys are treating their customers. I was very pleased to talk to the person Chirag. Instantly felt like home. The person was polite, and answered my questions clearly and softly. I got the kind of experience you would expect from a brand like Yamaha. I have heard Bangalore Wheels is even better, but, this was good too.

There it is guys. You be the judge and take your decision smartly. No matter what, I am not going to give my bike for service at a place, who doesnt know the difference between a faired and naked bike.

I am a new member(and a silent one too)

I have been considering Fazer 250 purely for weekend touring (100-200kms) since it falls into my budget of around 1.5L. I wish there was ABS though.
Also yet to see a single one on road, Personally i didnt like both the color combinations available for Fazer. FZ25 looks stunning in black or white.

I am now waiting for some good ownership reviews and hopefully we see at least single channel ABS coming in 2018

The side & rear view of Fazer250 looks great, but the front is plain yucky! Wish they retained the front of Fazer FI.
Also, absence of ABS is not acceptable for a 1.5 lacs bike.

Bought Fazer 25 on 11Sep17. Currently completed 1268 kms on the odo.1st service done at 1050 kms.
Had some tappet noise during the last part of running in (running in is uoto 1000 kms). Valve clearance adjusted during 1st service. Issue rectified. Initially there were lot of vibs on the handle bar, so much that my right hand used to pain. But as the kms went by, by the time running in was complete, the bike become extremely smooth
