Re: Yamaha Fazer 250 - Ownership Experience Thread (PHOTOS FOR NOW)
Hello Everyone,
I've done around 2,000 on the ODO, had a couple of short rides. Here is a quick ownership-review of what I've experienced till now.
Pros:
Engine (Good power delivery)
Heat Management
Gearbox (it was cranky till first service, it's sorted now)
Mileage: Roughly 35-36 (didn't expect it to be this good)
Suspension Setup (This can get subjective, but I'm OK with the current setup)
Cons:
Poor Brakes (surely missing ABS) and don't feel confident in emergency braking
Feels the absense of 6th gear over 90kms speed.
Almost useless visor (doesn't avoid wind-blast)
Headlights (though I don't expect much from ANY motorcycle's in this range, but headlights could have been a lot better)
Rear-view Mirrors (though it's adjustable, but once you put on riding jacket, it's almost tough to see what's coming from behind)
Others:
Top Speed Achieved: 143kmph
Tyres could have been better
Have done custom rim tape (Fazer logo in the tape had to be made as we didn't get the exact font)
This is what I've noticed / recollected for now, would update this post if I find something worth adding.
P.S. I'm not a professional writer / reviewer.Last edited by fr3quenzy; 12-13-2017, 12:13 PM.

Re: Yamaha Fazer 250 - Ownership Experience Thread (PHOTOS FOR NOW)
Hi Everyone,
I bought the Yamaha Fazer25 (Cyan color) on 9th Feb 2018 in Hyderabad. The On-road price of the motorcycle is Rs. 1.5 lakhs excluding the Extended Warranty which costs Rs. 777. The extended warranty only covers the engine though. From company side, Yamaha is providing 2 years of warranty on the motorcycle. As of now, the motorcycle seems to be good.
The motorcycle is one head turner on the streets. Whenever I stop at traffic points or so, everyone seems to steal a glance at it. Coming to the performance, the engine is smooth and vibes free at low revs. Didn't try to high rev the engine as it is in the Break-In period. I read the manual and it says that one shouldn't cross the 4500 RPM mark over the period of 0 - 500 km and 6000 RPM mark over the period of 500 - 1000 km, so following that.
The showroom guy told me not go beyond 50 kmph mark as of now till 500 kms. I did go for a short ride and the bike seemed to perform well. The brakes are good. The rear brake being a Disc brake lacks a bit of bite. But to me, that's good actually as it will not lock the rear wheel when sudden braking. The front brake is good although initial bite isnt so good but progression is good.
Maintaining the 4500 mark, I did manage to reach 60 kmph at 4000 RPM only once or twice while varying the revs during riding.
Here are some pics of the bike. Will keep posted in the coming days of the running of the bike.

Hi. Has anyone tried a backrest for pillion.
BTW to the rear wheel locking. It does locks up often. But what I found was it's due to prolonged heating time of rear tyre.
On my trip to Meghalaya from Patna I had great experience in breaking. As the tyres had enough km to get heated and get stickier.
Also the light intensity was good enough for 90-100 kmph highway run.

I dont know about heating up of tyre since I recently got the bike but what you say might be true. Yeah the headlight seemed adequate enough for me. The high beam could have been a little bit better but non thr less the spread is good enough. I dont think one may require extra lights until and unless one is touring a lot in the night.

One more thing did u have that tappet noise issue? Because i have hardly driven 150kms and i m starting to get kit-kit sound nowadays. I dont know if its tappet sound or something else.Originally posted by Ashish Sahay View PostHi. Has anyone tried a backrest for pillion.

If you read the FZ 250 thread, that specific thread is littered with posts of tappet noises and the solutions. Do have a read, you can get more insights. Apparently, almost 95% of the bikes have this tappet induced sound.Originally posted by Pratik3011 View PostOne more thing did u have that tappet noise issue? Re: Yamaha Fazer 250 - Ownership Experience Thread
Guys, important info about headlight. I had two headlight replacements (both free replacement as bike is within warranty period.)
1. The first headlight had a problem with the high beam. Low beam was ok, equally spread in both sides but high beam was offset to the right quite a lot. So much that high beam was completely unusable as instead of illuminating the centre of the road it used to illuminate the right side of road. Shot an email to Yamaha with copy to the service center of the showroom from where I bought. The service engineer did some checks and concluded rhat either the headlight assembly was faulty or there was some problem with headlight bracket. Anyway, they were not having stock of the headlight. Finally after a week or so they replaced both the head light and headlight bracket/stay. Issue resolved.
2. The 2nd headlight worked fine for some months. Suddenly one evening, during a trip, the high beam stopped working. Low beam was working properly. But somehow, after about 30mins or so the high beam automatically started working again.
But a few months later while returning from a long tripbof 250 kms, the high beam again stopped working. And this time completely stopped. I reported the matter to service centre. As usual, headlight was not in stock. After a few days the headlight was replaced.
3. 3rd headlight! No guys. This headlight is presently working fine. But when it was replaced the throw was very poor. I asked service center guys to adjust the headlight, but they said headlight is already adjusted. So I brought the bike home and adjusted it myself.
I'll explain the procedure of headlight adjustment in a later post. Just for info now, as per the Service manual of Fazer 25 the headlight low beam cut off height should be 80 cm at a distance of 10 meters from the bike when the bike is on both wheels (important, NOT (R) NOT on centre/side stand) with a single rider of 75 kgs. Of course air pressure should be correct.

Surprised to see, three headlamp replacements on Fazer 250. Were they able to infer anything from the burnt units? Was your wiring checked thoroughly? Any plausible explanation give to you buy the service heads, if at all.Originally posted by paulbiswas View PostGuys, important info about headlight. It was two headlight replacements, not three. First one was not blown out, but t's high beam was misaligned. Some manufacturing defect.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostSurprised to see, three headlamp replacements on Fazer 250.

Re: Yamaha Fazer 250 - Ownership Experience Thread
Hey there friends,
I am back to Xbhp after a long hiatus. Since last year I sold my Impulse I was riding around on a Scooter sorely missing occasional long tours. Also, because of certain commitments I was away from Xbhp, the play-ground of true blue bikers but i am glad that i am back here now with my new Yamaha Fazer 250, i will take the delivery of this tomorrow.
Looking forward to connect with like minded, passionate bikers once again!
