I'm owner of BS-ancient 310, so I'll reply to just these two.

    1. Front disc noise disturbs me too, It is because of dust particles which cling on to disk and pads, I use a pressurized 2l spraying bottle to clean off both of them, noise goes away.

    3. I engage 6th gear at around 70. Before that the 6th gear lugs, 5th is better. Don't know though if they've done some voodoo with the BS6 version.
    Hi,

Thanks for your insight. I have a few updates regarding that.

    1. Disc noise is connected to brake pad retraction. What happens is, when I use the front brake, and release it, it starts squealing for some time. Once the bike gets upto 60-70 kph, the noise goes away. Returns again when I use the brake

Testing method - Attain a considerable speed on a straight road and then depress the clutch. The sound is mote pronounced at high speeds if the engine is idling. As always watch your surroundings.

    2. For the engine braking issue, I understand that new engine will always have more friction. But it is still a lot. For example, it takes just 10-15 secs for my bike to go from 65kph to 36kph when throttle is fully closed

Hopefully my first service fixes all these and I dont have to worry about them again

      Hi,

Is there a way to automatically have phone bluetooth connected when you start the bike, like in cars?

As far as I have noticed, there is no auto-connect feature when starting bike for first time. It does reconnect automatically if you have stopped midway between a ride

                    Hi everyone,

I got my RR310 BS6 about 3 weeks back and have been riding daily since. Noticed a few odd things. If someone could help that would be awesome -
                    1. When I manually push the bike around, the front disc always grazes against the pads and I can hear it. More sound comes through if it is muddy
                    2. The headlights while great for city riding are completely useless for highway as the low beam has a very short throw and the high beam illuminates oncoming traffic more than the actual road
                    3. I dunno if this is caused due to a new engine, but I face large amounts on engine braking. E.g. I am doing about 65 in 6th gear, the moment I leave the throttle, it quickly creeps back down to GTT speed i.e. 36
                    4. Rear brake pedal has a quite a large amount of freeplay. So you never know if it being pressed or not.

Any fellow BS6 owners facing the same issue ? If yes, how did you resolve them.

                    Thanks for your help
Seems your post of this query has been missed out. In their chronological order:

                    1. Yes, that's normal. New pads will always mildly glaze or will be in contact with the rotor. As riding conditions turn murky and dusty, the squeal from pads will increase with increased brake dust. In such scenarios, cleaning of the brake pads will be necessary or cleaning the rotor and calipers with brake specific cleaners work well.

                    2. LEDs are a boon and bane, they are practically useless in city traffic, it's basically showing a candle light to the sun during days. All LEDs have a visible spectrum post which they either blend, fade or just glare the opposing traffic. A classic example would be Maruti Suzuk Baleno's horrendous LED lights, they burn the iris of the opposite lane rather than illuminating the road well. Fun fact: Mind you, the LEDs on the Apache are 1/3rd of the cost of the bike

                    3. Higher capacity SC engines will have comparatively higher engine as opposed to extremely low cc single cylinder bikes.

                    4. Get your freeplay adjusted. All bikes have adjustable rear pedal freeplay. Get it adjusted to your leg position and bite point.

                    Cheers!

                    • hello people, i am about to move to kolkata and finally planning to buy an RR 310 soon. Is there someone from kolkata here who can suggest me which showroom to approach ? I know it probably doesn't matter so much but I'd still like to know if there is some dealer I must avoid for any reason.. TVS website's dealer locater shows a bunch of dealers across kolkata-howrah, but the one in park street (sevenpoint motors) would be the closest one from my place of residence..

i am new to kolkata so any tips regarding the best service center(s) and also any local mechanics who know working on the RR 310 will be much appreciated.

sad to see this thread is not so active btw..

(must be at least 4 years since i last wrote a post in xbhp!)

                      • Someone please help !
This is with regards to the service and repair done of my RR310 bearing vehicle no MH47AC9197 with AUTORACE TVS, Malad W. This is the chain of events as it unfolded-
                        1. Went for service in the month of March 2021 where I complained that I am getting some creaking noise from engine at ~3000 RPM.
                        2. When I went for pickup they told me to bring it again after some days(Don't know why) and was advised to not go above 80 kmph.
                        3. I went again after a week and kept the vehicle at the service centre for a couple of days. They checked and came to the conclusion that there was a problem with the camshaft, finger follower and some related parts which were causing the problem and that they had to be ordered and I took my bike back.
                        4. Called them every 10 days. After about 1.5 months they confirmed that they had recieved the parts. I went and gave them the bike. A week later I called them as I did not receive any call from them. They told that they working on it.
                        5. Again a week later, I called them and this time they told me that some other part also has to be ordered and they have not recieved it.
                        6. Around 2 weeks later I called and now they said that complete head has to be changed as the issue was not solved after replacing all the parts.
                        7. I went to the service centre as I was dumbfounded. The mechanic showed me the parts that were supposedly worn out which I confirmed from trusted sources were not actually worn out. He showed me that there was play in the guide which I could not actually tell as nothing seemed inappropriate. But now I just wanted the work done and my bike back and I asked them will this solve the problem to which they said '100%'. So I approved it and the ordered the complete head.
                        8. No communication from them for next 10 days. Called them and was told that the part was dispatched.
                        9. Nothing again for next 10 days. Called them and they told that it will be coming in the next 4-5 days.
                        10. Again called them after a week, and was told that they will get the part in the evening and that the next day work will be done.
                        11. After 3 days, the work was finally done and went to pickup the bike. Took a test ride on the inner roads and checked if there was any noise at 3k rpm. There was none. Although there was some other different sound now which I was told was due to the new head. Although I did not agree but decided to give them the benefit of doubt.
                        12. Paid approx Rs 11,300/- and was on my way home. To my absolute disbelief, that same creaking noise was present and was now coming at 4000 rpm. I reached home and called them. They told me there was slight sound. I was in disbelief. Essentially what it means is that I had paid such an exorbitant amount for absolutely nothing. Nothing has changed at all. It's the same noise coming from the engine. After a couple of days, it sometime also starts coming from 3500 rpm.
                        13. This is absolutely unbelievable ! Whatever parts were replaced had absolutely no fault in them. Cause it did not change anything. I have just been charged such an amount even though nothing has been solved and parts were replaced even though they did not need replacing !
                        14. I have been in touch with Mr Sagar Shroff from TVS and have explained him my ordeal. From Autorace I have been communicating with Harshal, Omkar and Santosh. I had to write this as I could not see the issue being solved otherwise.

                        • Hey ani2607 , lot of times due to improper training and skill set technicians get confused to diagnose things, it's totally a dealer responsibility to make sure they have and care good staff. Even most of the time technical support from manufacturers also sucks due to improper guidance. And there is no need to talk about parts availability and time to get it, as everyone knows it.
All that aside make sure you collect and record whatever work done on paper with proper problem mentioned on it. Try to get it fixed from TVS rather than dealership, as they have proven they quality work. If still this does not go well, you can a option to go legally into Consumer Cort.

Is this OK or is there some manufacturing defect?
Didn't know this also happens, sound unusual. However mine doesn't pull to any side, goes straight like on rail.

May i suggest taking it to a motorcycle specialist place? if you were in Bengaluru I'd suggest Art of Motorcycle, not sure who are there in Delhi, but there must be some. ASS folks always play it safe, instead of really finding the issue, all they are mostly interested in is to replace parts and be done.
