Re: Hero XPulse 200
So took less time than expected to get the plates in Mumbai. Only a week. My Indian friend went to pick the bike up at the dealer (I was waiting in Goa), drove it a few km in the wet, and the bike stopped dead! I haven’t looked at it myself to see what the problem is but not encouraging. Any idea?

Re: Hero XPulse 200
You will get it well sooner than that. Unless bookings are so back-logged, you should get it in a couple of weeks. Are you going full cash or loan?Originally posted by thy View PostWhat is the average waiting time for XPulse bikes ? In my home town and surroundings, it is said 1.5 - 2months that too a couple of showrooms are saying it may delay more than 2months.

You're carburetor is set to lean mode, adjust carburetor and it'll be fine [emoji106]Originally posted by cha_indian View PostGuys here is something about Xpulse 200T that I wanted to share.
1. Idling is not stable and it goes upto 3000rpm after a few mins in heavy traffic
2. Engine knocking sounds come from engine after it becomes hot. The sound gets louder when it is taken on a incline in 5 gear.
Does that sound normal to you guys? I feel that I got a defective bike and Hero guys are covering it up.

Re: Hero XPulse 200
Thanks for the info.
In the past I've gotten a whole sheepskin and laid it on the seat which does wonders. Need to figure out where to buy that in India. Not my picture but basically like this:
I have hope my existing and well-used Moskomoto Reckless 80 will work with just a board attached to the existing mini rack, but good to know a proper rack exists if I need to go that way. I may also have to take the passenger peg supports, flip them over, and bend them back out to get them low enough to mount the bag holster. I can't recommend those bags enough.

Congratulations on your new bike!!Originally posted by stewacide View PostMy Xpulse 200 FI just came in in Mumbai. Waiting for plates. I'm a foreigner who plans to take it touring around India for a year. Bought it because it's cheap and should be comfortable on Indian roads (I don't understand why everyone here rides bikes with no suspension). I have a few questions hope y'all can help with.
1. For the planned service, can I take it to any Hero dealership in India? I really hope so. What is covered under the factory warranty? Hopefully they've fixed issued with valve clearance and cam tensioner coming out of the factory.
2. Is it possible to swap the 200T rear sprocket (or any other?) onto the 200 to raise the gearing? I couldn't get out of second during a very short test here in the city but the bike seems to be geared very low, so seems like that could help with high speed smoothness for my purposes.
I'll report back after I've had it a few months on how viable it is as a long distance tourer. My hope is to take the scenic/slow route as much as possible.
Also reports of ABS locking out the brake are pretty spooky! I assume the ABS can be turned off? Except in the wet on-road I don't see it as being helpful anyway.
You have made the wisest decision to buy this one instead of Royal Enfiled Bullet like every other traveller usually does.
About your questions..
1) Yes, for the service you can take to any Hero ASC (Authorized Service Center). Hero has the most number of service centers than any other manufacturer in India.
2) Yes, it is possible. But, do not expect much. The engine is designed for strong mid-range, it tops out at 7K RPM and no juice left after that. Cruising speed will be around 85-90kmph only. But, the acceleration from 40kmph to 85kmph comes in no time, I enjoy that while overtaking.
3) You cannot turn off the ABS, only way is to take out the fuse which on the downside speedo doesn't work.
My immediate recommendations..
1) You have to do some mods for the seat cushion, the stock seat will not be suitable for long highway rides.
2) During the first service, mandatorily adjust the tappets and timing chain tensioner
3) Pay for the engine oil during service to keep the warranty, but do not use it. Go for Motul 5100 10W30 or 10W40, semi synthetic oil until 6000kms. Oil change interval is every 6000kms. After 5000/6000kms, you can switch to Fully synthetic oil. If you use fully synthetic oil before, your engine will not break-in properly.
Hero's oil is absolutely useless, I have witnessed a huge difference after switching the oil.
4) Go for AUX lights, stock lights are useless on highways
5) For the saddle stay/ and luggage rack, you can buy from ZANA
HERO (link here, http://www.zanainternational.com/hero.htm)
All the very best on your travel! and please keep posting your updates.

Re: Hero XPulse 200
Hey guys, posting after almost 5 years, been inactive and how !
Picked up my XPulse 200 FI on the 27th of July, 19. Clocked about 3600kms till date.
Now that I'm done with the second service, couple of things that I'd like to share:
- The suspension setup is really good, making riding on crater filled Mumbai roads less of a task.
- The engine isn't performance oriented as other 200cc bikes available in the market.
- The overall fit and finish is good, but not the best. The bike won't rattle but the build quality could be better.
- The LED lights are again, okay, if one wants to tour, night riding specifically, AUX lights are a must.
- The SVCs in Mumbai, are a joke to say the least, most of them still have the commuter mindset and don't look at the XPulse as their premium offering.
- The efficiency I've been getting is a consistent 38-42kmpl.
That's all for now, if any of y'all have any other queries, please do feel to ask.
Cheers!
MG

Re: Hero XPulse 200
got my xpulse fi 19 sep 19. completed first service on 5/10/19. currently 635 kms on odometer. had hero impulse before so no major surprises for me on xpulse except that it is fuel injected. had to wait for more than a month for grey colour Fi bike. i will write a detailed review later but for now some quick pointers. The bike was given with manual of carb version which has nothing on fuel injection version. hope hero will provide something on Fi version at least as a soft copy. initial impressions are good. till date never felt something is missing in xpulse which there in impulse. the extra 50 cc really shows in power and especially i was riding 2 up with my wife almost 500 kms starting from new delivery from show room. power delivery is quite smooth and linear you may not feel it unless there is a vehicle in front you are overtaking and xpulse zips ahead. brakes felt good even better than impulse with good feel and bite. quite satisfied. here i never had an occasion to lock up my front brake and letting in ABS play out, but locked my rear brake more than a couple of times during actual riding and bike was pushing sideways. one has to be cautious enough to release the rear brake before things get out of hand. the bike moves thru city normal traffic 2 up comfortably in 3 gear ( there is no need to frequently up/downshift) unless it is stop and go traffic. one hitch i noticed that the engine switches off while riding sometimes. now 90% of the time you can pull in the clutch operate the starter on the go and move on. some times it doesn’t work and you had to stop and try and start after switching off the bike etc. ( a few times the self starter did not operate during such occasions giving the feel like battery is not full charge) but switch off and switch on followed by starting with a little throttle solved the issue till now). being Fi there is no fuel valve and no reserve provision when the last dot on the fuel indicator blinks you have to assume bike is on reserve and fill up else you get stranded. reserve fuel is 2 litres from blinking of last dot of fuel gauge. satisfied till now. detailed review coming up later.

Re: Hero XPulse 200
Nice one. Very informative. Please post a 5k or 10k km long term ownership review.
My modified pulsar getting old and I am planning to relocate to my hometown. So I need a good commuter bike. and impulse impressed me lot as of now.

Re: Hero XPulse 200
I too have this issue, need to see if the speedometer works as normal even if i pull out the abs fuse. I rather prefer not having such a lame system rather than risk failing it. System on my old RTR 180 was way better than this.Originally posted by RBK View Post
1) Very serious issue that many of us (Xpulse owners) are facing is with Front ABS. The moment you dive into a pothole, the ABS kicks in and the brake lever gets hard where you cannot apply the front brakes for about 2-3secs. During this time, if any vehicle comes in front of you.. there is a high chance of hitting the vehicle. If this happens on a highway, could become fatal. Even after repeated attempts of demonstrating this issue with Hero service technicians, service mangers, they are still clueless and not ready to accept.
On a side note, its good to be back posting on the threads after being just an avid reader for last couple of years.

Re: Hero XPulse 200
I have seen this with Hero's all new engines - the first batches are a bit lacking. A year or so down they do refine the engine, but it's hard on the early buyers. We have a Duet - same story BS3 duets are vibey, BS4's are alright (AFAIK). Same story with Maestro. Older Maestro with Honda engine were smooth, Maestro edge with Hero engines were rough, later Maestro Edge were comparatively smoother.Originally posted by RBK View PostIt is common in Xpulse. Do not worry, just run the bike for 2000kms and the noise will settle a bit. The refinement of this engine is very far from other Hero's (Honda) bikes.
<SNIP> Also, the service experience is generally better than any other manufacturer that I have come across. Honda service is the worst of all Japanese here in Bangalore.
As to the ABS, I think it may be part issue. Since this was not reported with Extreme 200(or is it there too?), maybe they may have used a different supplier and that could be the reason.
BTW I saw couple of Xpulse 200's here on the road in Pune. And they look good, keep the impulse's character, and should be great on our potholed roads - especially in while reaching Hinjawadi IT Park area.
