Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Stock carb setting is 3 +/- 2 full turns. Mine is set at 3.5 turns (bs 3 version). The tuning will vary depending upon engine condition, altitude, humidity, temperature etc.Originally posted by hemnath View PostAny help, what is the stock carb settings, i am taking my bike to SVC, what can i ask them to look at.
The mileage you are getting is what I have been getting (35 - 37 kmpl), in Bangalore city conditions. Not sure how you got 45 kmpl. Anyways, check the chain tightness, service guys usually tighten it too much. Also, change the petrol pump, maybe the quality of fuel or quantity is incorrect. Keep tire pressure at 25(F) & 28 (R) as mentioned in manual (cold temps). Check for any fuel leaks, and clean the air filter. Keep the chain lubed and clean it every 2-3 weeks depending upon condition. Dry and dirty chain robs a lot of performance too.
Don't think too much about the mileage, most of 180 cc and above bikes deliver this kind of mileage esp in city conditions

Any help, what is the stock carb settings, i am taking my bike to SVC, what can i ask them to look at.Originally posted by hemnath View Postits all city driving. I used to get a FE around 45 kmpl, with speed limits iof 50-60. I could see it went down by 10 kmpl which is massives, i changed the petrol bunks, nothing worked. All these happened after 2nd paid service of the SVC, after they changed the spark plug, spark plug cap, Air filter, as it needs to.be changed for every 12k kms. as per TVS.
Have they messed up the carb?? Now i have set it to 2.( 4 half turms)

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Uh.. bro the tyre must be broken in. After few100kms it'll become proper, and reduce the air pressure, for the front it should be 26psi max.Originally posted by apacherider View PostGuys.. its getting normal.. may be its due to the hardness of tyre..

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hello fellow apachians Happy New year!
My Bike is almost 9 year years old and has done 38000 Kms on odo. except for the vibes i haven't faced any major issue recently and it is always a Blast to ride be it my office commutes or long rides. there is a drawback which are the vibes which are bothersome on long trips but i tend to overlook those vibes as the bike gets my adreline pumping.
Now i am looking to upgrade to a bigger bike as i have started to tour a bit and i am looking for 2 or cyl bike, but i have no intention of selling my beloved RTR180( was considering the FZ25 for a while but dropped that plan)as i am too sentimentally attached to it as i have a lot of memories from my college days and once i get the big bike i can still my RTR for short rides and office commutes.
Anyway,I was wondering if i can add a FI Kit and a counter balancer to reduce the vibes. is it feasible? has anyone done Carb to Fi Conversation on the RTR180?
Experts please share your suggestions.
Pics to follow soon!
Thanks and cheers!

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
That seems to be a good mod. However, I don't think upgrading to the rear disc of the 200 4v will be a worthy mod. It will cost at least 2k but the increase in braking power will be minimal. Also the rear of the 200 4v can lock easily and in case of Victor, the rear can lock up even more easily. If you want to improve braking, you may have to look at better brake pads and tyres rather than increasing the disc size.Originally posted by pranavraj1125 View PostThank you ayrus for the quick response.
I would like to mention that my bike is a 2004victor gl but with the front and rear brakes of the rtr 180.
The front rotor size is the same for the 180 and the 200, but the rear is larger by 40mm.
The dual disc mod was done last year, so just wondering if anyone has already tried it before I go tampering with the disc brakes since its a pain to get it working properly if its removed.

Thank you ayrus for the quick response.Originally posted by ayrus View PostI think it may require modding the mounting point of the brake caliper to accommodate the larger disc.
BTW.... Why do you want to upgrade the rear disc? If you want better stopping power, you should upgrade your front brake and not the rear one.
