Motul is the best brand which handles bajaj bikes exceptionally well. Go for motul. Baja oils the worst i ever used.

I believe oiling is the best lubrication for closed chains, sprays are for open o-ring or x-ring chains, you can also use melted grease to lubricate your bike chain but after cleaning it thoroughly.

What you said was in back of my mind. This time i will try using high quality grease.

Completely fed up, otherwise my bike has no other problems of now. My bike is discover dts-si 100 5G

need suggestions or a possible way out.
I own the same bike as yours.
The OE supplied is of diamond make. If your condition of chain sprocket has gone bad then replace both with diamond.
A new set should be installed with correct chain sprocket alignment.
In every bike chain is crucial part of maintenance. Lubricate chain with grade 90 oil regularly every 15 days. Also chain should be cleaned twice in a year and more frequently in dusty / offroad riding.
A well maintained chain can last upto 1,00,000kms.
My bike has clocked 12000+ kms in almost 2 years. Till now the chain was cleaned for just 2 times and 2 adjustments. I always lubricate chain every 15-30days and its in mint condition.

Yeah roads in my state is not good at all, but I take adequate care of my chain, I lubricate and tighten it every 7-10 days. i don't ride triple back also.. but the chain becomes lose frequently. My bike is 22,000kms = old.. I already changed my chain when it was 11,000kms. I changed the whole set and it was genuine bajaj product brought from authorized spare parts shop.

Strange! buddy does your bike chain gets loose in 10 days, if it is than this shouldn't be happening, and you have already changed your stock chain set at mere 11000kms, if that's the case than the problem is with the chain set, as Lokesh said a well maintained chain will last longer, IMO you should look out for other brands of chain set other than bajaj, just look out in the market for Rolon chain set, see whether they make chain set for your bike.

Actually the market in my state is very bad, not going with genuine parts are risky.. they may be good sometimes but most of times they are very bad. I will search for two brands.. as you and others mentioned.. ROLON and DIAMOND

Both of these Rolon and Diamond chains are OE equipment supplier to the most of the 2wheeler companies.

Re: Discover 100 - White smoke

Rebore by 34k km only? That was fast. If you can spare the money, go for a new bike. Your bike is already 4 years old and is worth only about 35K rupess. So spending around 10,000 on parts and labour is not worth it, unless the bike holds some sentimental value to you.

Yea i thought the same. Riding comfort has also come down. All the dealers said they will take on exchange for 12-14k.

How much is it worth in the market?

Reboring job should not cost so high. It should cost Maximum 3k for reboring with +1 piston size and head work. Head work may or may not be required. I believe at 34k engine crank would be in good condition unless you have driven at very low oil levels for prolonged drain intervals like 10k kms as suggested by Bajaj ASC.
60kmpl is less. I get 70 kmpl min. And nearly upto 90kmpl with gentle riding at 40kmph.
You are getting very less resale value may be because of bad engine.
However, if you want to upgrade you can sell this off. Otherwise, after proper engine work by a good mechanic, bike will run like new.

I never mentioned about the bore issue to any of the dealers. They just quoted the price. Just one dealer started the bike and revved and saw but fortunately there was no smoke that time.

Is it consuming oil now? Can you see any white smoke still?

Start your bike in neutral. Let it idle for a minute. Gradually open the throttle and go on opening more and check if any white smoke coming out. Keep checking oil level every 500kms and do necessary oil topup. Note the quantity.

If you bike shows white smoke at the time of starting engine only then problem might be with the head only.

Ok let me check it next time. I topped up oil of around 300ml for a 1000kms. Next checkup will be soon.
