  • has anyone up-jetted with K&N? can you suggest the jet size which I have to go for?
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

Always be ready (get geared) to fall and then think of sitting on the motorcycle.

      • To all: Install the HONDA Paper Air filter in my RTR today, no much hassle, kind of direct fit, just need to make the air filter box hole a little big, Sound & Pickup just awesome.

        Cost Only Rs.200.00

Mod details will be in my blog soon.

IIRC, this conical air-filter is used on Activa's right..?
The Uni runs a rectangular-box type filter. Why would you want to fit the air-filter meant for a 100cc scoot on your RTR mate..?

          • ^^^ I guess that's Eterno's filter...

BTW, Paper filters breathe better than foam filters. That's the reason.

                • An air filter that breathes better gets you better pickup and helps the engine go not out of breath at higher speeds.

Paper air filter breathes better than foam but has lesser life as minute dust particles get stuck in the pores with time restricting air flow... but that'd probably still be okay compared to foam filter.

                  • @All

Guys, need some help. Started my Apache after a long time today. The Electric start aint working. Just a whirring noise thats it.Thought, the battery must be low, so should be okay once i start regular riding. But, what worried me was that the tacho needle started to rise everytime i press the horn. Now why would it do so?

any pointers. Has my electricals gone kaput?

                        Thanks for the heads-up KP
Activa/Eterno/Dio use the same filter btw. Not sure about the Aviator, but im guessing it'll be identical too.

@satish : He's done some jugaad to fit the filter. It ain't a plug and play kinda fix but apparently its worth the effort.

                          • Problem with FI brake light wiring

Ok guys just had a pretty confusing issue with my FI. I had kept my sunglasses case under the seat. When i tried to take it out, it was stuck to a wire. closer examination revealed that the wire had melted itself to the plastic case.

Now the brake/tail lamp wire is a three wire cable with a 3-pin plastic connector which goes to a 3-pin connector coming from the main wiring. There seems to be a set of three wires added between the two connectors like a jumper with the corresponding clips at either end which make it seem like a factory job but there is black insulation tape around two points in the middle which make it seem like a jugaad kinda job. The three wires are grey, black and white in colour. Now, there is a resistor soldered across the white wire and the black wire. The insulation tape was used to cover the two soldering points. The remaining parts of the wires and the resistor itself are covered with heat insulating sleeves. The cream coloured, braided variety. However, the piece of sleeve covering the resistor had become so hot that it unravelled and exposed the hot resistor which melted to my glasses case.

I would never have noticed this if it hadn't melted to my case and the semi-professional kind of wiring job makes me wonder if it was there from the factory or if it was added by the service centre during one of the free services. Other FI owners please check and let me know if your bikes have this extra bit of cable between the main wiring clips between the brake light and the wiring harness.

My guess is that there could be an issue with the (expensive) tail light blowing up and they could have added it to keep it from happenning during the warranty period.
