  • A crude solution (rather an option)

As you all may know by now, the rear pillion footpegs vibrate like no man's business beyond 5k rpm, I thought a lot about this coz the pillion ride experience is ruined because of this. I tried putting in some rubber washers in the foot peg assembly but to no avail.. Then I thought maybe the best way to avoid these vibes in the footpeg is to maintain as less contact with the bike frame as possible, so I removed those springs that are part of the rear footpeg assembly, and guess what, there is a significant reduction in the vibes from the rear footpegs...

The only disadvantage is that the pegs are in the horizontal position, like when they are being used by the pillion, there is no tension to hold them back in the unused position.. This is something I tried and felt good about myself ... So there it is, a very crude solution....

that is a great find man, thanks for the tip. only problem i see is that without a pillion, the footrests might clatter a lot on bumbs and shit.

the reason the footrests vibrate so much are because they are cantilevered on the footrest subframe. vibrations tend to seek out the furthest points which have some amount of 'play'. same theory as to how bar-ends reduce handlebar vibes. hey so all we need are footrest-ends now ! :-) j/k

Any other good oil u have in ur list.
        For my apache

        i loved motul 300v.

        Power1 is sad.

anything else (TVS Tru$ etc) is bad

        For the RTR fi

Tried Veedol Super Swift. Decent but not excellent.

Going to try petronas synth. Will keep you posted!

you are welcome, just a little 10 minute tinkering around with your bare fingers will do the trick, as far as the clatter is concerned, i havent noticed it yet...next target would be the noise from the fairing

          • my fi is 1 week old and completed 200km.
but i am facind a problem in it.
when i accelerate the vehicle the rpm stuck at around 3 or 4k while coming down.and i have to boost up the rpm a bit to make it come down.
it occurs ocassionally and becomes frequently after continous riding for 35 to 40 km
when i showed it at the sc they said that its a normal issue and will be solved till the 1st service.
still they said that its a issue with the accelerator wire and they will change.
they said that the wire will come from the company in 2 to 3 days
and then they will change it.

is it a major issue or just small one.?
any idea related to solve it and also some run in tips.

              • I have just changed the oil in fi to Pertonas Sprinta 10W40. Lets see how it goes. i also changed the oil filter.

And I just noticed, the oil drain nut has a small magnet built into it that attracts the iron particles. Its cool. But iron particles from where???

                • Any chance that the cylinder walls are made of steel and the bolt in question attracts metal residue during the breaking-in of the engine..?

                  • Hi speed indication Problem

Guys, I noticed the first bug in my RTR today.
At every tankfull I get, I reset the trip A meter to zero. Today when I did that, I went through to the Hi Speed page. It suddenly staterd showing 160 Kmph. The fastest i have ever done in my RTR is 103 kmph( didnt have the guts to go faster).
Well, i thought i'll reset the value, but to my surprise, the value is not resetting. It is constantly showing that the Hi speed attained on the bike is 160.
                    Any ideas what to do?

                    • Hi guys i just finished my first service 2 days ago, but after the service, I hear some weird chain sounds occasionally, I mean it just occurs randomly, its like a 'kharr', 'kharr' sound if you get what I mean, it happens more often at lower gears at low rpm, sometimes even when starting out in 1st gear.

Also now my bike doesn't start in one press of the starter like earlier, it starts on the 2nd one now,I have to depress the starter button for longer now, before it was like a feather touch .What could be off ?

Ok and one last thing, how can the alignment of the wheel be checked? At the back wheel, the markers visible on the swingarm should be the same on both sides right?Anything else that can be checked?

My rear disc still makes some sound even after multiple water and air pressure washes!

Thats a old bug.... infact I was told it was something when the trip meter goes to default to show RTR160... (so 160)

Btw guven good riding conditions, am sure you will slowly be riding faster on the rtr.... there was a time when i used to cruise in 80s average.... and now I cruise at 100+ on the RTR
RTR has added atleast 10KMs to my average speed (which the R15 has topped by another 10 )

                              • The RTR cannot run at a speed more than 150kmph as on given on the tyres! so how come they achieve 160 kmph on the bike? :O
