Yea man! The bike didn't feel like a powerful bike in that condition! The RTR was gone! It was running like a splendor

    • can be the fuel cock or the carb... dirty fuel settles certain substances in the carb and that too is a cause...

I remember very well that during monsoons we had to clean the carb regularly!!!

      ----------------

Satish, 30mm difference in disc size would cause a considerable difference in positioning of the calipers. Shouldn't it?

i think so.......but i am sure the mountings on the fork should be the same.....may be RTR has an extra support to mount the caliper.....i'll take a pic and post mine.....if someone could post A150's mounting points that would be gr8!

As its just 5 k km old, ideally you should not need to replace it. Just check the gap and check if the edges haven't become blunt.

            Thats a Bosch plug, right?
thats a defualt plug, i gues it is bosch

Oh & after how many kms do disk pads normally wear out ?

welll i have seen a 150 with petal disc.... cudnt observe much in traffic.... id ask some1 n then i think the answer can be given...

but theoretically the mounts hv to be different.... wit a difference of over 30mm . . 150 being 240mm n rtr being 270 with a petal form... the mounting is slighter higher....

im still nt able to find much relevant answers to this even on the net... some experienced mech or one of u guys who has done this could shed some light..

@mzone.... welll u gotta use the clutch while braking...if u didnt mean this.. then i perhaps didnt understand u...

will wear out your clutch plates soon
@alll.... wats the average life of clutch plates..... its supposed to hold good till or more than 35000 kms.... but its usually recommended to change it after 35k kms.....

any suggestions to switch to some other *read--- better performance* clutch plateS???

hey man what I meant was during emergency braking you have to pull in the clutch but while normal braking (i.e gradual braking) you usually downshift while braking/decreasing speed (gives you better braking too) and pull in the clutch only when you get close to 0. Hope its clear now

                    • Hey guys, the A150 has touched 20k kms. today! I've decided to go in for a new bike but I'm keeping the Apache as well. Got some questions and I'm sure you guys can help me out with them.

                      1. Any major components need changing at this juncture? So far I've changed only the disc pads @ 14k, brake shoes @ 15k, and spark plug @ 18k. And of course routine things like oil, oil filters, fork seals, fork oil, brake fluid, etc.

                      2. There's some insane leakage above my cylinder head, I guess it's originating from the timing chain (?) and it's globs of oil! I've been asking TVS, Castrol, and my mechanic to get this sorted for the past 12 months but to no avail. Any private mechanics highly recommended by any experienced members here, or any alternate solutions to end this problem?

                      3. I'm planning to fit a 100/90x18 Michelin M45 or Dunlop GeoCruiser tomorrow, as well as an MRF Zapper FS front tyre. Are these good brands?

                      4. Also on the cards for tomorrow are: NGK spark plug (what is the A150's heat rating?), aftermarket air filter, and white halogens or high-powered stock wattage bulbs. Any recommendations for the filter and lights?

                      5. Anything else you guys would advise/recommend or that needs doing?

                      Thanks!

EDIT: Any good mechanics who can do post-K&N jetting for the Apache 150 (preferably who have done it before) in Hyderabad/Secunderabad?

Default plug... you mean its the original plug installed on your RTR by TVS?? And the same plug is recommended in your manual?

Btw, while adjusting gap on multi electrode plug is best not attempted, you should still check that the gap always falls within the specified range. Trust me, its the most imp. thing you can do regarding plugs!

Leave ur bike to Satish on one holiday and he'll do his magic on it... all problems would be solved

Did you replace the oil seals for the head?

Dunlop GeoCruiser seems to be very bad in wet. May be Dunlop Monster would help. I guess M45 is the best option. Also, I believe your stock front tyre is a Zapper FS and is good enough.

                          4. Also on the cards for tomorrow are: NGK spark plug (what is the A150's heat rating?),
CR7EIX would be the NGK plug. Got one recently for a Fiero F2. Want to save some money, call me before you buy.

aftermarket air filter, and white halogens or high-powered stock wattage bulbs. Any recommendations for the filter and lights?

Filters are of no use without proper jetting. In fact, they harm your engine when proper jetting is not done. And jetting it to the right size is something of a trial & error scenario for us unless you manage to get hold of someone who did it correctly earlier and can do it with one shot. Until then, keep away.

Lighting, HID seems to be the way for u.

I am using a geo cruiser for my apache. Changed it during the hyderabad rains last year. The tyre is brilliant. Handles wet roads with ease. And I am talking of serious speeds.
