i've used it in my new FI and new cars....and all i got was a sparkling shine....
BTW why you're sayin not to use it..
and i apply these polishes on top of stickers and evrywhr and it never seemed to harm anythn....
Use only pure wax or protectant products that protect your paint from UV, bead water well, etc. I guess I'v mentioned them earlier.

I didnt get this, are you sure about the wax sloughing off a tiny layer of paint? Also why would this be good for an old bike?Because F1 Carnuba Wax that you get in the yellow tin is not just a wax! Sticker Woes
With all this talk goin on about polishes and stickers, just this evening i took a ride. when i was wiping down the bike i noticed the sticker on the tail (above the tail-light) which tapers down to a point has started to peel at the point. it's very small, but it could get worse very quick. i dont exactly know what to do. should i dab a miniscule amount of superglue with a needle or something and stick it down, or not do anything? polishes aren't an issue now, more worrying is what happens when they pressure wash it at the svc. such a tiny problem ...

Its good for an old bike where the paint has lost some if its sheen/gloss. Its a good idea to only use such products once or twice or so (depending on how agressive they are) to get the sheen back. After that use a pure wax or some other kind of protectant only. The term "pure wax" is slightly misleading here, as most wax products will contain silicone and other ingredients also... but you know what I'm talking about...Originally posted by Technocrat View PostI didnt get this, are you sure about the wax sloughing off a tiny layer of paint? The effects of not using the right product will not be seen immediately as you will get a shine (to whatever degree) either way. But over the years the affects will build up...

Please don't use Fewi Quick by mistake also-if even a miniscule drop falls on the paint, it will corrode it&you won't have any option left but to repaint the area&resticker it if there was a sticker there.Originally posted by julianpaul View PostWith all this talk goin on about polishes and stickers, just this evening i took a ride. when i was wiping down the bike i noticed the sticker on the tail (above the tail-light) which tapers down to a point has started to peel at the point. it's very small, but it could get worse very quick. i dont exactly know what to do. should i dab a miniscule amount of superglue with a needle or something and stick it down, or not do anything? polishes aren't an issue now, more worrying is what happens when they pressure wash it at the svc. such a tiny problem ...
I have a better option: Use cobbler's glue. You won't get it in shops, you need to get it from a cobbler. Pay him a few bucks&he'll be happy to part with some, in a small bottle. Apply it liberally over the sticker back part. Don't worry even if a bit falls on the paint&hardens-it can easily be wiped off. To remove it, use your plain fingers, or a small piece of cotton dipped in Nail Polish remover. Don't scrub with the nailpolish remover-it may dull the paint if you use it too hard. Just do it lightly&then apply a bit of normal wax polish onto the part over which the nail polish remover was used.
I've used this stuff to restick some embossed stickers on my glossy black helmet&it was very easy to wipe it off!Quench my thirst with gasoline!

thanks for the tips man. but it's just a tiny bit at the tip of the sticker which is starting to peel. there's not really enough to apply glue. i'd have to peel it off more in order to do that. your warning about superglue gave me an idea though. i'll use masking tape to cover the rest of the tail and then try the superglue. for such tiny things i usually apply it with a needle, never directly from the tube. it's just a small bit now but i know from experience that the rest of the sticker will eventually unravel.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostPlease don't use Fewi Quick by mistake also-if even a miniscule drop falls on the paint, it will corrode it&you won't have any option left but to repaint the area&resticker it if there was a sticker there.

i love the matt grey but they could have probably done better than just skip the clear-coat in order to get the matte effect, especially when there are stickers.

Ok, but be very careful, I guess dabbing it onto the needle should work the trick.Originally posted by julianpaul View Postthanks for the tips man. but it's just a tiny bit at the tip of the sticker which is starting to peel. there's not really enough to apply glue. i'd have to peel it off more in order to do that. your warning about superglue gave me an idea though. i'll use masking tape to cover the rest of the tail and then try the superglue. for such tiny things i usually apply it with a needle, never directly from the tube. it's just a small bit now but i know from experience that the rest of the sticker will eventually unravel.

Why aren't the stickers clear coated for the matt grey? My friend has a black RTR Refresh&his stickers are clear coated.Quench my thirst with gasoline!

coz that's how they get the matte look. it's not possible to clear coat only the stickers and leave the paint. if they didn't clear coat the black they'd have a matte black too. kinda stupid way to get a matte finish if you think about it, exposing the stickers like that.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostWhy aren't the stickers clear coated for the matt grey? i think from his description that there is an abrasive component to the polish. it may be too small to notice for some but for older finishes with lots of scratches, an abrasive compound is the only way to a smooth finish. for a new paint job/bike, i would be safe and avoid that polish and stick to as pure wax as possible.Originally posted by rennycornelius View Post?????????????????

check the Fi parts manual at the svc. if the stickers have part numbers (usually do) then 'convince' them to order it. its really that simple. else make your own. very hard to get perfect. too much time and effort required for an individual to do.Originally posted by terrordrone View Postguys i just wanted to know if the racing stripes on the Fi/180's tank/scoops are available and how do i get my hands on itLast edited by julianpaul; 07-03-2009, 11:49 PM.

holy crap dude !!!
i can officially say that your bike has had the worst factory QC and PDI in indian history!
if this were another country you should sue them. could have a nasty accident with a problem with the disc like that. reminds me of the breaking pulsar forks ...
Btw Heres the bike update.
Its been one month and the bike is nearing 2300kms. Will give the bike to servicing by next weekend as i will be out of town for 3 days.
Now, the complaints intensity has come down.
The problems now are,
1) 0-60 timer in meter console is now working.
2) Headlight flasher switch has gone kaput (maybe due to the slight rain it met)
3) Irritating "zzzzz" sound from rear disk brake when even on slight braking. do others have any such experience? )
4) Fuel efficiency is 43. (how much can i expect on sedate riding?? )
5) Tappet sound has increasingly increased when compared to earlier.
All the above mentioned are minor issues, and am thouroughly enjoying the vehicle.
I have a query regarding the syntetic oils. During the service can i directly use the synthetic oild from the normal castrol oil tht am using now? or any flushing oil needs to be out first?
This time am going to try out a new service centre and hopefully the workmanship will please me
happy riding friends. will come back after the service.
