    • Yesterday found some colour chiiping in the front rhs shock. Any idea how to touch it up. Secondly what is the colour TVS used to paint these parts and engine? It looks very bad. I dont like any sticker job. Please help.

        Even Am facing same Problem shyaa..and when i ask Tvs Svc they said there no warranty for color plzz. kucha batao kya karu..?
        Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

            had my 4th service 2 days ago..

            i know i should be putting this in the engine oils thread.. but since my bike takes precedence over oil.. im posting it here

            well i got power 1 from outside.. i noticed that the packing has changed.. the rating of 15W40 was printed on it.. i thought it was 20W40 always..

            my apache fi needs 20W40 afaik.. is it fine ?

            • Ride Report after 4400 kms (2 months)

              Hi guys, I have done 4400 kms so far in 2 months(2 services done on time). Problems are those which every buddy knows, I don't know whether I have to call these problems or the nature of the bike. Bike is running fine with a trademark vibration from 4.7k rpm to 6.5k and i managed to touch 118 once at night while returning home. I am riding nearly 100 kms a day when go out, engine oil I am using is TVS Tru4 as recomended. A thud sound from front portion also makes me feel bad some times. I never feel tiredness by riding a long distance on RTR, may be its due to my willingness of a sporty riding position on a bike from childhood (Though how can I complaint now ). I am using brand new elf MOTO 4 gold (20W40) for chain lubrication every 3-4 days. Got my jets cleaned because of unstable rpms from the day 1 at second service (now fixed). Got a scratch on ride side tail panel because of a fall in parking(if any touch-up is possible, do tell me guys). Front brake is having some spongy feeling because of some fiddling by SC guys(Once while topping up the brake fluid the fool put some drops of bike polish by mistake in oil reservoir). Clutch is also not up to the mark by me, as it engaged even after little release (I am feeling some jerks/bumps while slowing down with clutch). Mileage i am getting is around 50kmpl with a variable riding style (55-80-top-60). My 99% usage is highway, using iftex as an oil additive and going to use Nulon Engine Treatement after third service at 5500 kms. Got my techo strucked once at 4k rpm but fixed after a refresh.

              I think enough for now

                RTR FI has a oil rating of 20W40 for sure....
                didnt checked the new packin of power1, my bike is due after 1000kms....
                i dont have the knowledge of these W's, i mean if they decrease they increase the viscousity or what...

                tru4 is not recommended, 20W40 is.....

                stop lubing your chain with pure oil...
                it'll attract lot of debris and dust and it'll end up jammin the rollers...
                lube it once in two weeks that too with oil and kerosene mixed in 60:40 or 50:50 ratio......

                check for the clutch lever play...
                it's more than needed for sure...
                and the milage you're gettin is way too good........

                  • Yes I am felling a loss of breaking power after that. And if I will bleed all the system, are they going to charge me or will do it under free service. And as you said lubing the chain with oil will jam the rollers, but I am cleaning the chain every time while lubricating.

                    • apache refresh in kenya!!!

                      Hi guys,

                      I've had my red refresh from march this year and so far have covered just under 10k kms . I have had two accidents so far, one where i got hit in traffic by a blind driver!! and the other when i had just left the house at a turn with loose surface (really embarassing as there was an old lady neighbour of mine who went oooohh weee!! as i was sliding on the ground to a stop).

                      Surprisingly both my falls have been on my right side. I broke my rhs mirror , damaged the rhs crash guard and scratched my indicators, front fairing and front mudguard on the first fall. on the 2nd fall i further scratched the indicators and fairing and then i also badly bent my foot brake lever.

                      I also did some weight reduction between the 1st and 2nd fall. i removed the front license plate and saree guard. I also removed the front crash guard (but this cracked all by itself around 6k kms causing an unusual bell like ringing sound around 3000rpm and again between 6000 and 7000 rpm.)

                      I did my tappets after my 2nd service and to date they've stayed quiet. I do my own service because the svc center is useless in my opinion and dont support the apache very vell. right now i need air filters and the brake pedal but they dont have either of them. if you know someone who can send some to me it would be a great help.

                      my bike has otherwise been problem free. afew vibes at the usual rpm points can be felt but get worse as the bike approaches service time.

                      i have noticed one thing though. I used to run the bike with the stock plug and the carb needle raised up to the highest position (that is clip at the lowest position) and it would idle very smooth when cold but when hot and around 4k to 6k rpm the bike would feel like it's dead with no real pickup. Then i changed the plug to NGK CR7E and things livened up a bit but it still is always rich no matter how many turns of the air screw i make. is this normal?

                      Also does tvs sell paint for its bike or how does one get hold of the standard colors? Do i have to just get them mixed by eye or is there a paint code somewhere?

                        Castrol Power1 has always been 15W40. And it absolutely fine using this oil.

                        Use a better engine oil and stick to service intervals properly. Avoid the Nulon thing.

                          Those fools at SC center told me warranty will void if I will use any other oil than TVS Tru4. Thats why I am thinking about that NULON thing.

                            Dude, service center guys will feed you all kinds of bull. Contact TVS directly and insist that parts with defective paint be replaced. I have done this and have got stuff replaced.

                            Dude, lube only with oil. And since you are cleaning before oiling, there is no reason to worry.

                              They are not fools. They try to make everyone of us fools and succeed at that in a big way. They just want to sell o you what is available to them. Even if that guy happens to stock an aircraft power booster he'd say installing that doesn't void warranty irrespective or how much it is useful on ur bike and how much jugaad you have to do with the bike to get it installed.

                              When their Tru4 oil is out of stock (happens every now and then) in most cases they use Servo/BP Mak/HP Racer. They get them cheaper and the MRP is higher. How does one explain this about warranty?

                              PS: I am telling this about any service center. Not just TVS. Seen HH, Yamaha, Bajaj and even those of cars doilg such things with engine oil and also with extra accessories.
