How much milage do you guys get in average with the RTR FI ? Just curious! My friend only gets about 35-40kmpl on average doing mixed ride from the day he got it. it must be some 17K old now.

Long story short. Carb overflowing issue, changed it thrice U/W, other problems too. F#$Ked up mech and service eng. Got pissed off and sold it right away! They could'nt solve an issue even after i left the bike and used auto's buses for 20-25days! Moron's!

Well, those bajaj folks are capable, but its the sheer no of bikes they have to handle makes them to do very shabby job and eventually they got stuck to it. They just dont find enough time to spend for my bike. But that is not an excuse in anyways. Moreover RTR had spoilt me big time by then and i end up comparing everything!
My TVS SVC supervisor and my friend resigned from TVS and joined HH. My Zma got all the pampering it needed. Now he will be shifting either to Harley Davidson or Nissan in a week or so. Wish i get either one of those

Been out of the loop for various reasons, xbhp being taken over by einsteinish infants being one of them. And renny having sold his bike leaves very few active fi owners with us. i've gone over the entire thread though and hope to participate as time allows. keep the flame alive yo!Originally posted by onlinesatish View PostWhere were u man? been ages since i saw you posting!

Hi all.
I'm almost decided on getting an RTR 160 Hyper Edge. But came to know that it doesn't have tubeless tyres but the 180 has it. Are the regular tyres a lot more prone to puncture than the tubeless ones? If yes, I may consider an RTR 180. Please reply.

well you can also buy tubeless tyres for Hyper edge
. but i think you should go for RTR180 it comes with 17" wheels so in future if you wish to buy tyres for your bike there will be lot of options than 18" rear wheel and also RTR180 produces more Power so its more fun to ride though i feel
my RTR-Efi is the best
.
Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

Thanks abhiwar.
I want to stay with factory fitted ones as upgrading to tubeless will make me shell out around 2.5k for each and I want to save a bit as I'm a student and budget is a bit of a concern
. I want to stay with the idea of 160 as much as possible as it gives better mileage and this is going to be my first bike so 160 itself will be a huge power machine for me. But if 180 makes puncture a lot less frequent, then I may consider it. May be, with a bit of a pain to my pockets, because,
cost of 160+ tubeless tyres(I know aftermarket tyres will be better) = cost of 180 including tubeless tyres.
If I can get both at same cost, I may as well consider the better performer.
But still, I'd consider 180 only if the puncture thing is way lesser in it.
So, please suggest, do the tubeless tyres make the difference as big as cancelling a bike?
Also, in the hyperedge thread, I saw mixed responses among the people who test rode it.
Are vibrations lesser in Hyperedge?
Thanks
P.S: @Abhiwar, how often do you encounter a puncture in your EFI's tubeless?

I am having an earlier model RTR160 & my friend has hyper-edge but i didn't find any difference while riding both, there might be a small difference in torque curve but for a rider its very negligible even to feel that difference, though i felt that rtr180 has more vibrationsOriginally posted by pcgamer View PostThanks abhiwar.

..According to me you should settle with rtr160 as this is your first bike so rtr160 has sufficient amount of power to thrill you & also as you are a student so FE matters too..
the thing you are worried about is its tyres, tubeless tyres are good & easily repairable after puncture but stock Tyres of TVS isn't good even in RTR180 so no matter even if you'll go with RTR180, you'll most probably change them after 10k kms or so..so just go with rtr160..ride it till 10-15k & then change its tyres to some other tubeless tyres, till then you can easily save money for them..Suzuki Gixxer - Current

nope....RTR Fi doesnt have tubeless tyres. Moreover, all apache tyres are made by TVS, so no matter which bike you get the occurrences of punctures will be the same. It will actually depend on the terrain you are riding. Only advantage of having a tubeless tyre is you will save time and protect your wheel's rims from abuse while repairing punctures. If you have easy access to tyre shops and if you dont tour much then tubed tyres are adequate. Even i have an Fi and in the ~20k kms that i've ridden, i've had around 5-6 punctures, majority of them in my rear tyre.
And i second abhiwar on the 17" rims thing. It may so happen hat you eventually find a tyre which is miraculously resistant to punctures but you wont be able to go for it because you have an 18" rim
Btw, i think you are concentrating on punctures a tad too much. It shouldn't be a primary criteria for getting a bike in the first place. Concentrate on other things that really matter like FE, cost, ergonomics, comfort etc.If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough - Albert Einstein
I think i know less than what you think i know.

Yeah, don't know why, but the aspect of puncture had been coming into my mind way too much. I'll just stick with the stock tyres for upto 10k km. Thanks a lot
I'm 5'11". I'll use the bike mostly to go to college. Highway rides will be like, once in a month. Will it be too uncomfortable for usage of more than an hour?
BTW, still that doubt, are tubeless tyres more resistant to puncture?

i have rtr he purchased on 21june and same day i made it tubeless, just remove the tubes and put valve, it coasts 150*2=300 rs only,i carry repair kit so if tyrewala doesnt have it u can do it
advantage= if any nail stuck in Tyre air will leak very slowly if u have tubed one then all air will vanish faster.Last edited by nileshtambe; 08-08-2011, 01:27 AM.

my height is exactly same as yours & i don't find RTR uncomfortable though i find it a bit cramped as i use ZMR for daily purpose & RTR only on few occasions..I won't compare comfort of ZMR with RTR cuz that's Karizma ZMR's USP & Karizma's are proven tourers but even RTR isn't uncomfortable & you can ride it for few hours continuously..Originally posted by pcgamer View PostI'm 5'11". & as per you mentioned i can say it won't disappoint you cuz you can use it for touring casually but not as a hardcore tourer..it'll suit your needs..Suzuki Gixxer - Current
