  • My RTR is nearing 75k kms. Been through its worst phase in the past 6k kms. Needs lot of attention. I have had it with Pilot sporty, pathetic tyre ever. Will be changing to Sirac street shortly and leave it for its well needed service.

P.S - been more than 7k kms since i last serviced it. I just changed the oil!

    • accelerator wire

my fi is January 2010 model. it is performing very well. but there is one problem. in last 4 months, the accelerator wire has been replaced twice because the throttle gets very hard. what is the reason for it? also any remedy for it?

The throttle cable gets a bit tight after a period of usage.Make it a point to clean the cable with petrol/WD-40 every 3 months for smoother throttle play. Also lube the throttle grip with some thin oil like 2T oil.

Are you running lean ? usually at SVCs they tamper with AFR settings and set it for good mileage unless told not to touch it. Anyway to improve top end correct AFR settings to rich , clean air filters if not done for 2 months.
Hi guys...As quoted before I had lot of issues like drop in top end performance say some kind of lag in throttle output...I even consulted one local mechanic to ride the bike and check out but he said everything is fine..I wasnt satisfied with that..atlast I gave to my friend who also drives an apache FI and he too felt what I felt..seems like only apachean can understand another apachean .... on his sugeestion I droppped my bike for minor check up in Tristar TVS and met Lokesh (Sr. Advisor)....I told him the issues I'm facing...Today morning collected it back and guess what the beast is back to roaring again and all these for just 66rs...i asked him what was the issue he said he just fine tuned it, cleaned the plugs 'n' filters, changed the brake fluids and did some tweaks here n there (God knows what ) and everything is fine now...So its all set for a trip this weekend...after which I have the last free service in first week of december...So btw thanks to all for the valuable suggestions...

            • Regarding Tire Arrow Mark

              Hi All,

Recently when I changed the tires those SVC guys fitted with tire arrow mark in opposite direction. Later they had to remove it and set it back again. When I asked them they said it effects the durability of tires if fitted in opposite way.
If thats the case does that mean it provides more grip than in normal case so that it causes more wear and tear and life of tires get reduced.
So, in that case if TVS tires are fitted with arrow mark in opposite direction it will provide better road grip..right?
Could anyone provide a better insight to this??

There is a reason why u've Insurance . Use It
Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

                      • front sprocket query

Guys I want to change my front sprocket from 13T to 14T. I was planning on going for Fiero F2's front sprocket. But i just got confirmed from Fiero owners thread that the F2 also has 13T only.
1.kindly suggest me a front sprocket with 14T which can be a direct fit on my Apache 150..
                        2. Has anyone tried a taller gearing on your RTR's. If so how was the results??.

                          • Hi All,

This weekend I will be getting the last free service for my Apache HE.
Its about to cross 1year with 9.5k odo reading.
Is there anything specially need to be done in this service as its going to be one year.
Also I went for a 900km trip last weekend.
The things that need to be done in my mind are:

                            1. Air filter cleaning (I think they haven't done so far)
                            2. Carburettor cleaning
                            3. Do I have to change the spark plugs?

Is there anything else that is quite important to do?
I know all these things are mentioned in services but normally these guys wont do it until told specifically and once the free service finishes they start charging for everything.

So I want to make sure everything is done in this service itself.
Could you guys help me by your valuable suggestions on this?

                              4. Just in case if they show some kind of bottle named ENGINE FLUSH dont use it its of no use and you will end up spending 300-400rs extra .

                              5. If they as you for D-carb the engine ..Refuse it .

                              6. Yes change the spark plug i used to change it on every 10k kms.

                              7. Check tappet setting and also make sure that the carburetor is tuned correctly after cleaning.

                              8. Check both brake pads . thats it from my side .

Whats that ENGINE FLUSH? For what its used?
The stock spark plugs which they have in showroom is enough or do we have to buy and give them (say iridium spark plugs) to change the same? What might be the cost for it?
Also I thought its good to D-carb the engine every year atleast once and it will increase the performance, I mean it will give the feeling of new bike.
                                Is my assumption wrong???
As I had felt like reduce in millege. Max I'm getting is 40kmpl which is less for apache HE 160. Ofcourse its in city and there are frequent gear changes which all effects. But I dont do insane riding. speed between 60-70 in city and gear shiftings either at 4k rpm or at 5k rpm.
