Thanks for the great tips provided, I got it done for Rs. 1000!! Another 800 for a simple front shock absorber stickering and a new set of number plates matching the rear styling. Sharing some pics -

Also got a small "Twister" done on the front number plate. As seen in the pics, the rear tyre hugger is a bit misaligned towards the left, but not so obvious while looking from above. Anyway, I am going to take a punishment on rainy days, but am happy with the looks! (for the moment )

Sorry for hijacking the flow, just happened to read this one particular post.

The 4k for modifying the rear is a tad bit expensive IMO. If you want to go ahead with that mod, I know a guy who would definitely give you a better price. Please ping me if you are interested.

Thanks Sachin for the advice. Today I talked to one more person in JC Road, Bangalore. It seems the total cost of getting a full paint job (metallic) done will be 5k - 6k. He also advised against getting a touch up done because it might get highlighted as a patch, depending on the fading characteristics of the patched area against the existing painted area. Also he quoted 4k for modifying the rear of the bike (replacing the existing mudguard with a frame to hold the number plate and indicators and fitting a pulsar like close mudguard to rear tyre). I am not sure if the prices are fair and is now pondering my options before making a jump!

hi comskian,nice too see you back. thanks for feedback on continental ContiGo 100/80. these tyre are bit hard to find in smaller cities. regarding paint job...i would prefer the black/silver color. Now a days you can find "Acrylic spray paint" which come in small pressurized cans....similar to perfume/deodorant. you just have to spray it like a perfume on the bike body for touch-up job. they come in various colors and quantity priced around RS 200- 250. but still its better to get the paint job done from professional as they are skilled.

Guys, I am back after a while; the thread is accumulating really useful information - great going! First I want to give a feedback from my long term use of ContiGo 100/80 rear tyre as promised earlier. I haven't faced any issues with this tyre so far and there is no more skidding. I had been relying heavily on rear break (under all weather conditions) for some months since my front discs got wearer and wasn't responding well (got it replaced for about 2000/- and after 23000 KMs). Also there wasn't any noticeable mileage difference - I used to 72 per ltr which was reduced to 70 in Bangalore city driving conditions when measured the first time. Now I feel mileage is not as good as earlier, but definitely due to other factors like change of locality and road conditions where I rarely change to 4th gear . Now I have come for some advice - there are some scratches all over the body which I wanted to touch up from a long time. Now I have decided to go for a custom paint job itself . I found a guy who showed me some samples of his work and looks pretty decent. Red and silver metallic paint similar to CBR250 is the color scheme I got in mind. Also silver-black looks elegant - gotta decide on one! Meanwhile any arguments against the possibility of painting the exhaust pipe and also the two vertical stainless steel rods attaching the front tyre assembly to the body (metallic paint)? I am not sure I will go that way, but just to know in case ... Thanks in advance! (sorry for the formatting, for some reason I cant insert a newline in the text )

from fuel tank design looks like a modified CB Twister......in fact thats the only thing that has not been changed. boy...This is extreme. By the way if someone tries to sit in the pillion he will be punished...becoz the seat is very small and exhaust smoke will be directed towards his face
people in Philippines are crazy about doing such stuff.

dude,my knowledge on this in limited,but getting insurance in such claims are always difficult.....firstly you need to find if such clams are covered under the insurance policy you purchased. you should phoned the insurance dealer on the spot when incidence happened....because now he may say that you need to show proof of incident or proove that it was not your fault etc etc. still call the dealer number given in insurance form for inquiry. do let us know if you succeed in getting insurance.good luck.

I changed rear tyre to CEAT Vertigo (as i was suggested in this thread).

Review:
- Rear height has increased a bit.
- Tyre has good grip, firm & stable.
- But those who already have height issues, don't go for this tyre. As with me - I am facing lots of height issues.

Today I had a minor accident due to some careless pedestrians.Due to a surprise shower they crossed the road without a look to get to the nearest shelter.As a result,I had to hit the front brake while cornering & went down with my bike.Now me & my bike have some minor scratches.I got patched up but I want to know whether I could get insurance to touch up my bike & replace some parts.

It means something before the plug+cap is not ok . Usual suspect is the ignition coil , so yes . However , with electrical gremlins usual is the exception , and I say this from bitter bitter experience .
