Got some seat modifications done for pilion side in 1000 bucks. Always felt that rear seat width was too narrow. Will post some long term review after some time.

I did this in Pimpri Pune where I live. If anyone needs concact do let me know.

Had same problem when I owned avenger 220 cruise in 2016, when to service station many time , they could not solve , then I asked for service manager , who rectified in sec , asked mechanic to check idle rpm , found out it was set low to 700 . Corrected to 1200 or above and problem solved , never had same problem for year .

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!

Dealer arrange the mechanic from his service centre, he said the same thing, idle rmp was too low.
He tune the carb and set the idle rmp.
Now there is no problem at all

Took delivery of Bajaj avenger 180 street today.
Quick check from 180 street 2018 owners,
1. While checking the oil levels, I realised that there is no oil dip stick when I opened the cap. Is it same for all or i need to check with the dealer?
2. Toolkits

Congrats on the new vehicle. Add some photos. There is no dipstick. There is an oil level sight glass with high and low markings. It is where the usual kick starter is attached (look out behind the rear brake cable).

Ownership thread - Initial expereince & 100 Km Review.

Before i write something, there could be duplications in details, however i am trying to be little specific to my views where other bikers may want to share their expereince to get best out of thoughts & resolve issues.

Got my Bajaj Avenger 180 Street on Dec, 3rd 2018.

Consideration made before buying :

1. Riding expereience for daily commute of 40+ Km. (mostly city in Pune)
2. Price point
3. Performance
4. Maintainance

I own Passion xPro 2016 (which i sold recently). I had less inclination towards sports bike purely due to daily commute of 40+ Km (although i like KTMs, New Apache, FZ series). For daily commute i faced posture issues due to which decided to switch the bike.
When i did test ride for low seating vehicle, only cruiser range stood it's ground. In such situation only Intruder & Avenger were options. Intruder looks creepy so automatically got ruled out.

I did test ride for both 180 Street / 220 cruise & street to give it a try. Since my requirement was for daily commute, FE is also key aspect for me due to which i decided to drop 220 version and go with 180 option.

Delivery expereince :
Sai service Paud rd br is closest to me and other option was on Warje Highway showroom. Since it was all cash buy there was not process of loan & documetation. Post paying full, the showroom manager did not give much of choice but only one which at times, i felt was not fine. Anyways !

on the "D-Day", did puja before taking out. Checked overall conditions, specially chain tension, dents / scratches & basic PDI checks. Made sure to confirm oil levels, tyre pressure, fuel condition (they added 1 ltr initially).

I choose to replace the default rear support handle with 220 style seat support for comfort to pillion rider. Added foot stand, carry hook & indicator buzzer (all 4 costed me 1700 INR)

Upon delivery i checked tyre pressure & did tank full at Shell with V-power (which is my usual preference)

First 100 km expereince & initial observations :

1. Overall riding comfort is decent. I am still getting adjusted to cruiser style seating as i am almost 6 ft tall person.
2. Engine is decently peppy when it comes to speeding (so far i have not tried to push the peddle but to remain around 60 KM mark)
3. front disc brakes are pretty sharp and you can control bike speed if you are habitual of using brakes simultaneously. Only rear break is slightly sluggish.
4. Headlight expereince at time is decent.
5. Gear shift is very smooth, at times its difficult to put vehicle in Neutral (also may be i am shifting from all Down gear system to avenger style).

Now when it comes to some observations,

1. Plastic quality is extremly poor specially side covers
2. Electrical covers looks dated.
3. it is common complaint but i failed to undestand why all controls are not shifted to main display like fuel indicator, headhight, indicator etc)
4. Bajaj appears to still have the bajaj scooter influence with choke operates exactly like bajaj scooter (rod type)
5. my biggest complaint is fuel knob is not protected from fuel theft like my hero xpro. It is need of an hour to make design such that it is difficult to take fuel out from fuel knob. If your parking location is vulnerable to fuel theft, you better get a fuel lock.
6. Ignitation & handle lock are at two different places.
7. I was annoyed to see quality of key, it looks so cheap & not even can put a keychain properly.
8. Was surprised to see no oil dip stick. Difficult to check oil quality too !

I got 5 yrs engine warranty & did long term (5 yrs) comprehensive insurance at competative price.

Completed seat modification after trial of 500 km+ to suit the riding position.


1. Added some extra foam to increase seating height. This was also done to adjust knee angle position while driving
2. Bucket shape to add introduce tail bone support
3. Flattened seat for better seating posture.
4. Added extra cushion and width to pillion rider seat.

Has anyone done fog lamp installation on 180 street 2018 model without damaging original wiring (eventually without impacting warranty) here in Pune?
