Yeah I did this on my bike - long story short, does not work.

Thing is that dazzler had a AC/DC setup where headlights, tail light & number plate light are AC but high beam flash, brake light, indicators, console etc are DC.

The RR unit of dazzler sends only enough power to head lights to support 35W bulb, rest of the power goes in to recharge the battery.

When I simply plonked in a 55w bulb, it actually glowed dimmer than stock 35w. I am guessing this was because resistance of the filament in 55w bulb is more than 35w and the RR unit was not sending enough power to the bulb. Even at rpms >6000 the bulb was not as bright as stock.

But when you press the flash button the high beam 60w flashes in all its glory because the connection is DC and power is drawn directly from the battery.

Moral of the story, simply plonking in 55w in dazzler will not work because of AC/DC setup. At the very least you need an AC/DC to full DC conversion. It is my guess that dazzler will be able to handle a direct swap to 55w without coil rewind with just a direct DC setup. But don't quote me on that!

Shailesh, hope you're fine post the accident. Regarding tires, plasmabhai has already given his pointers. I'd have asked you to do the very same.
Now, keeping in mind the bold part from your post:
1. Practice panic braking.
2. See if you can upgrade to steel braided brake lines. (not worthy IMO)
3. Switch to a softer compound front tire (more grip, but more punctures). Keep the same spec. R15's front would be ideal.

P.S - Dazzler has in fact optimal shoes for overall Indian conditions. 99% of skidding-after-braking occurs due to the rider's faulty braking, not tires.

Will it be wise to do so? Have seen guys upgrading to this size here in forum. (No one shared +/- tives yet)

phat_17 has upsized to 110 front and 130 rear. You can talk to him regarding pros and cons.

Hi all,

I met an accident last week. Because of which one of the front forks of my bike got bent (the steels tube is curved like banana now), front mudguard and headlight assembly got damaged. There is minor damage to bikes foot pegs and fairing also.

Now when I look back, I feel the incident could have been avoided. (may be with even better braking characteristics, right now the brakes are just adequate)

my current tires are only just under ~20K Kms old,

Finally managed to source the hh hunks bracket which is meant for the disc brake version. I would like to highlight the difference between brackets meant for drum brake & disc brake ----->

Bracket on LHS is meant for disc brakes which is having provision for mounting the assembly.
Now the installation work is expected to start by tomorrow. I will update with pics as soon as this installation work is over.

It seems even I need to change cone set of my bike. it has done ~19500 Kms. I did observe some problems before also, but service guys just adjusted handle.

One more update about cold start problem. It was found that the spark was getting leaked from the connector(socket between wires form battery and spark plug, don't know actual name of that part) at spark plug. The spark was visible from around that connector every time I pressed start button (probability of bike getting started was 1/10). It was removed cleaned and connected again by service center guys and now my bike starts every time the start button is pressed. (I added it to my checklist)
Also, It was recommended by service center guys to start with NO throttle if choke was on. (It really helped me during cold start, earlier I would release some throttle out of desperation to start it)

A new problem
My choke is not functioning like before, when the choke is engaged the rpm doesnt rise(only till 1500rpm)
The mechanic at the svc redirected the clutch cable(removed the cable from the lever) while installing the handle after the cone set replacement
what may be wrong???

Re: Honda Unicorn Dazzler

my dazzler has done 15415 KMs,
100 KMs back i have done OIL change(ZIC Fully Synthetic 10-40 , 1 Litre)
last time i pour Honda Throttle Fully Synthetic 10-30 , 1 Litre in starting bike was very smooth but after 350 Kms not so smooth(Top gears slip sometime), so i change the oil brand as suggested by oil dealer.
i inspect old oil just before oil change ,just touch the oil guage dip stick & that was about 800ml after drain.
few days back -- it show some white smoke during cold start when i am using chowk .but after 1-2 minutes there is no smoke.
i doubt that rings are gone bad,
how it is possible that rings wear in just 15000 KMs .although i change the oil in every 2000-2500 KMs.
is it possible a lean AFR mixture cause smoke or rings wear down fast. i am getting FE of 55 Kmpl in local but decent driving.

should i change Rings only or Piston also
can i select CBZ extreme/ HUNK 's Ring + Piston (as per my knowledge the maximum engine spare parts of these three bike are same)

@nsengg both top and bottom bearings measure the same
i dont have the bearing balls to measure combined thickness
and these are not accurate measuremnt i dont have a vernier caliper at home

@nsengg
From your initial pictures it seemed that both the top & bottom bearings are of the same size, can you please confirm.
In your post with the sizes, the first picture is of the inner race here it is the ID of 26 which matters, the second picture is of he outer race here it is the OD of 50 which matters. However thickness will be measured with inner race - balls - outer race configuration.

the size 26x47x15 could be used in Honda motorcycles, what you have indicated seems 26x50x15

The cost for the CBR stock type was 1190 and the roller type cost me about 1500

The bearings available in the open market are of ID 25, here Honda has tried to have a monopoly in spares and sized it to 26.

I would want to replace the stock ball type with roller type. The image attached is of the roller type I have installed on my CBR, the CBR also has the same type of bearing used on the dazzler or platina ! It makes a world of difference in the quality of handling. The other issue is when we replace these bearings, they use the normal potato grease which looses all greasing properties in a couple of months what is needed is water resistant graphite or a lithium based grease.
A quality bearing with proper lubrication would need adjustment just once post installation and should go on for years & years (at least 10). Here whenever there is a complaint during the warranty period they just keep tightening & loosening the cone set on each alternate occasion. Post warranty they urge you to replace it again in 4 months we are back to where we started and just learn to live with the situation, it is a very unfortunate situation for us as riders.
