First practice in 2011 is sched for Feb 1,2 and 3 @ Sepang, Malaysia. Then it should be in Jerez or somewhere in March, 2-3 weeks before the first race.

Riders take a break in Winter. No testing (Officially banned until feb).

Ya.. I thought the testing is underway, so why don't we roll with it too.

Can you move last (or last two) pages of post of the 2010 thread to this one and lock the old one, if possible.
I will let the old thread be for reference. If I lock it, it gets lost in the quagmires of the infinite threads that exist!

Well Vale isn't supposed to talk but Preziosi is....

find his comments on day 1 and day 2 here

?Exciting day? for Preziosi as Rossi works on 2011 Ducati engine | The Official MotoGP Website

Preziosi: ?I think we?ll go with the big bang? | The Official MotoGP Website

His first comment when he lifted his visor up was a positive one about the power delivery and then he gave some impressive technical details. We certainly have a lot to do to adapt the bike to his riding style but it is really nice and very interesting to work on something like that.

This is a interesting comment I found in the link posted by Suren

                  Alex Briggs says.....
Submitted by sparky on Thu, 2010-11-11 06:37.
I found his comments really interesting - he's been one of rossi's "staff" mechanics for the last decade.... I am a pretty shameless Rossi fan which I hope leads to great racing next year... Sounds as if they're humbled but not daunted.. 2011 will be an interesting year... (I hope). FYI Alex is great to follow on Twitter... the only reason I have an account there.

H guys. I'm compleatly smashed, I have not worked that hard @ a test for a few years. Accomplished a lot. Result was crap but not representative of what we have learnt. The poor old rider was compleatly stuffed also. Big part of the time was just the riders body letting him down. But we kept lapping & testing. End result is the engineers have a long 2 do list courtesy of us! But they r the best guys. Its going 2 be fun. At yamaha I guess in the end I felt like we just were tuning. At Ducati I feel we are really working. Its going 2 be great 2 see the end result. May the force be with us

here is what he said abut the "?" on rossi's helmet..

The ? mark just means that all is unknown? How will he go?, was it the right choice?. Will Alex's mow grow? Is Alex going to sleep now?(yes)
                    Pretty obvious though...

you bet...Hats to him for picking it up and be fast and quick lap times probably are a testimony of his acquaintance with the bike.
But the flip side of it, he started his career with LCR Honda back in 2006. Now I understand the 2006 RCV is totally different than 2010 but still don't you think he is already familiar with the characteristics of Honda?

@Suren: Thanks for sharing that. A super read!!

@ suren: nice one. I trully believe Rossi will turn it around big time. Kudos to stoner for such a quick adaption.
Did anyone notice the livery on Capirossi's bike, whoa too good !

As it seems quite clear, Ducati's main focus was to choose between Big Bang and the Screamer engine for 2011. And Rossi has given them this answer in Big Bang! Now Ducati has a long to do list till winter testing starts. Expect the Desmo to be a very different machine when Rossi starts on it again in Feb2011. They accomplished their target in these two days testing which was, seemingly, to choose the type of engine to move forward with. Now they'll make it the way Rossi wants it to be.

That article on motomatters.com is indeed a very interesting read, and the comments are equally good as well. Stoner has to show that he's the right investment for Honda, his times now confirm that. Dovizioso has shown that he can fight but he can't escape like Pedrosa when it's his day! Moreover, Pedrosa's injury is still in a quite bad shape and threatens to be a permanent injury if not dealt carefully soon enough! So Stoner for Honda! Among Yamaha riders, there's no one better than Ben Spies to replace Rossi on the factory bike, he's shown his capabilities in his rookie season and moving to factory is the next logical step. And Ben also showed that he's better than riders who graduated from 250...

...Rossi is in entirely different league now. He's just not a MotoGP Champion. His long history of success has also shown that he can develop a bike to a best bike in the paddock with the help of JB and his engineers! Ducati needs Rossi more than Rossi needs Ducati. Ducati definitely hopes that the Desmo will turn into a more rider friendly bike with the help of Rossi and Burgess that others can ride easily as well. Something which hasn't really happened. Nicky will definitely benefit. And with these two days of testing, we can be sure that Ducati knows for sure what they have to do with their bike to prepare for the next season.

In the article I read in one of the comments that Stoner could work around Ducati's problems for his own good but other riders wouldn't really benefit from it. I'll agree. Stoner could definitely make the Ducati good enough for him but it seems that he and the engineers, so far, could never really found a solid permanent solution to the problems their bike had which would make it easier to ride for other Ducati riders as well! Ducati definitely wants to change this with Rossi, Burgess and co. And people, this is Valentino Rossi....quite the greatest!

Stoner and Nicky collectively had 8 DNFs this year. 5 out of these are Stoner's!!

Clearly, GP09 & GP10 had unsorted issues with chassis & front end which were big enough to keep away Stoner from a serious title fight in 2009 and 2010. His 5 DNFs dropped him to 4th rank this yr.
