Quite an alarming issue for all the Rossi fans, Will he sort this out and bring out a winner?? Hell yeah when he could turn the under performing yamaha into a championship winning machine the very first year (do remember the win in the very first race) he can sort this issue quickly and hope to see the Doc in front in the first race itself. But it depends largely on the Ducati technicians too. Lets wait and see and this is first time i'm feeling nervous !

Pulling out one more interesting comment from the link shared by Suren:

      Food for thought:

Thanks sparky as Mr. Brigg's adds to my perception that Rossi is being Rossi. #46 is not competing with anyone to get Ducati's attention so he can develop the bike to his needs in a manner that suits him. #46 has found alot about the GP10 (as can the telemetry) without pushing for an entire lap, so why push for *lap*times now? The glory of being up the list now is not the prize #46 seeks.

#27 and #26 are (just as Suppo and Puig are) competing for HRC's development attention and priorities on how to make the 2011 bike work for them first and then the others. If I recall correctly #26 & #27 set the bike up differently with their preferred weigh bias (ref. needed), making this an important battle. Stoner had to set laps *now* to show he is worthy of getting HRC to make the bike fit him. He had to show HRC, Repsol, and the press he is the guy now. Repsol & Dorna like the idea of Spain on top...#69 won the World Championship and Repsol/HRC made the next bike for #26. I believe Suppo&Stoner had to climb to the top of the priority list at this test - which I think they did. #27 gave HRC weapons, in the form of his laptimes & media coverage, to push back on Puig&Repsol's influence to keep #26 as the development target.

The slow lap times from Val will be used to add to his legend. His legend will grow when he is able to lap so much faster in Feb. This speed may then be attributed to Rossi's skill as a developer instead of the speed of the bike alone. Booth Val's ability to develop and lap fast are able to be amplified by posting slower laptimes at this first test. This point of development will not be able to made by Jorge until he moves to Suzuki, or some other factory that Valentino has not marked as his own.

Ya it is quite a possiblity and I still haven't forgotten the words he spoke just before the Laguna seca race 08': "I might need a gun to stop Stoner" just after the qualifying session and the next day Stoner was beaming with pride just before the race as if he was really unstoppable with his pace and you all know what happened in the race . He is a master of mind games and he hasn't been at it in the recent future. Is he starting it all over again? I would love to see that

Hmm with the catastrophically less amount of testing these days I highly doubt Rossi will spend two days of precious testing just to keep a low profile. If it was the time of yesteryears when they had infinite amount of testing, it would have been plausible.
                But who knows...

Can't Rossi simply go to Ducati's private track and ride it till the ride is perfected, who would know about it? No one. It is a private track, no cams, no people...

(Do I make sense?) I frankly dunno

Ducati does most of their testing in Mugello, they don't have a private track like Ferrari has their Fiorano circuit.

They will go any lengths (pulling out of WSBK ) to provide VR the best GP bike. There would be tons of track in Italy / Europe where they may secretly test the GP-2011 Motorcycle. May be Ferrari will rent them out.

Rossi has undergone operation on his shoulder and Doctors have advised 90 days rehabiltaion period ! but that would bring a "Who cares" response from Rossi and there would be extensive testing going on somewhere in Italy
