The rider is doing shorter runs & resting longer between so we can get meaningful testing. Its working.
Quote of the day from VR: "I'm like an old mobile phone, charge 4 half an hour and then I only work for a few minutes! "

    • Despite his condition, Rossi stated that he was able to improve the front-end feeling on the bike,
which is widely considered to be the Desmosedici's biggest weakness.
      he fixed it.

..that is blindingly fast...pedrobot was also supposed to be recovering from shoulder surgery (not as severe though)....looks like this season is gonna be interesting....

            • Guys, I'm starting to worry about Rossi. I've never seen him complain so much about injuries. Is he serious or is he just giving excuses for not being up there. Will this year be a big let down for us (Vale fans) I just dont want him to be up there in the midway stage of the championship. I want him to do it right from the start as he did in 2004.
I'm sure the other guys are having a big grin behind there helmets about all this. I want them to be scratching their heads seeing this man kneeling down near his GP11 romancing after winning the first race.
I sincerly hope and pray that he is sandbagging ! We all know what this man is capable of and after thinking for a while my mind is at peace again that he is surely having something interesting up his sleeve which will leave all the 'orange' and 'blue' guys puzzled
Young riders pick a destination and go, Old riders pick a direction and go !

              • I don't think he is sandbagging at all. These mind games are far too cliched (at least for me) to be effective at all. And that too if it was directed to one rider it makes sense but there are so many this time

There are big changes in the Ducati this year and this is the only time that Rossi and Hayden (and others) have got to test all the revised parts.
Clearly the lead rider (Rossi), for whom all these changes are happening, isn't 100% fit, finding a perfect setup by mixing and matching the options and going fast on it isn't possible.
Also as everyone knows Ducati is no piece of cake to just hop on and be fast on it, except for Casey (not moaning at all lately )

If you see the timings they are improving but on a slow pace (1.9 sec off Pedrobot compared to yesterday's and last test's timing).

The playing field is leveled now.
Look at Hondas almost all them are fast except LCR Honda. Honda promised Gresini of Factory spec bikes and looks like it is true. Also the newbies from last year have more experience now.
Suzukis in the past too have been faster in testing but sucked in the actual races and this time no different. Hope Bautista can do a turn around for the company.

Don't write off anybody yet this will all take shape slowly as we progress towards Qatar.

Looking forward for an exciting year

PS: As somebody commented on another forum last year itself: Don't expect 2004 fairy tale to happen again

hmm....I believe there is a psychological warfare going on....i.e. who will top the timesheets....

buddy...all the rossi fans have similar thoughts....it would be difficult for him as
the severity of the injury....the injury was made worse by Rossi riding with it for the whole season....., it is the kind of injury which is said to be career ending....his tendons were completely destroyed...this surgery takes time to heal....(there were a no. on articles on this)

lack of testing...in 2004 he had lots and lots of testing....whereas here...almost none..

the level of competition....all riders and bikes are upto speed now.....from JLo to Simoncelli...

so maybe he won't do good in the first few races(only hope is that his shoulder would be better by then)...but he sure will get to the top again.....till then enjoy the racing as the younger genration slugs it out..

                  • @sumit.pannalall: Points nicely laid out, totally agree with you & I'm not writting off the Master and I never will. I know he has a lot of surprises waiting for all the others. I only want it to come soon ! That would make all of us

@Kingkong: Ya he must be through lot of pain and all but it's really hard to see this Champ not up there, but I'm waiting for the first race and i'm not bothered about this practice and all cause he'll be in a different gameplan altogether. Even you have written him off for the first few races but i'm not doing that. I know he'll be right up there fighting for the top step in the very first race itself, I know it's a tough ask but you'll never know with the Legend

                      • Vale always comes through.

jumping ahead... my prediction for Qatar...

Rossi starting from the first row...

                        and then...

                        and then this.

                        • ^^nice one.....a more thrilling proposition would be.......Rossi drops back in the initial laps and then comes through to take the victory (just like sepang)...that would just break all the competitors....

bang on mate!!.....I listed the reasons as to why it would be very difficult for him....but one can never write him off....and just imagine if he wins now....I don't know what name/title would be bestowed upon him since he is already called the greatest....

                          • My bet on Rossi (the Legend) & Spies (Acting like a Legend, already)

Though am very afraid the way Casey has picked up his pace.

(Can't wait for 27th Feb, the first WSBK in '11)
