    lorenzo's time is 2.02.042

edit: Stoner just gone 1st on his 28th lap. 2.01.294 puts him 0.438s clear of Pedrosa
edit2: Nicky Hayden's Ducati just came by media centre window on back of truck. No crash damage so it obviously broke down

        • Ducatis' timings haven't improved much. It is just that the other bikes/riders aren't that fast
          Sepang Test 1
          1. Marco Simoncelli ITA San Carlo Honda Gresini 2m 0.757s (42 laps)
          10. Valentino Rossi ITA Ducati Team 2m 1.842s (33 laps)

          Test 2
          1. Casey Stoner AUS Repsol Honda Team 2m 1.294s (34)
          4. Valentino Rossi ITA Ducati Team 2m 1.999s (28)

Something different in track conditions I guess...

          False hopes

Another nice observation in crash.net discussions related to above timings:
Lap times are highly dependent to circuit/track condition, temperature, humidity and many things. So it's a good idea to compare riders at the same test session. And that would mean that Rossi is getting closer to the test leader (Sepang 1st test 1.085, and now 0.705).
          Last quote of this page:

          Some more reading:
After the results seen from the Honda machines at Sepang the Mediaset website suggests that the secret behind the blistering pace of the RC212Vs could be a development which allows a faster shift of gear, which in turn translates into tenths of a second being shaved off every lap. Honda’s road motorcycles which are equipped with the Dual Clutch Transmission are already benefitting, therefore making its transfer to their competitive machines a logical step.

              • ^^Thanks again mate!....

Casey is gonna be pretty strong this year...if he doesn't crashes a lot..

@Sumit: completely agree mate...false hopes...still uncle rossi can improve over next 2 days......
and yes the track conditions will definitely play a role.....also as they go on practicing they would lay more and more rubber on the track....I expect all to be fastest on the 3rd day also considering that they all would have almost perfected their setup by then....

"Most of the top guys went out late and pushed for a time.
We decided against it for today. Might have a crack at it tomorrow."

This is really bad news . Common Rossi, Return in the afternoon and give them all a scare by a late burst with a soft tyre

could this be the 1000cc ?? There is no scrutineering during testing ! And this guy had done just 3 laps today..If not this test rider is bloody fast on the 800cc.. Even if one argues he like he must ve been on too little fuel.. This is pure race pace !

could be to see how it fairs with the current crop of bikes ! And mostly full time racers are always about 1-2 secs quicker than the test riders ! Or as i said that test rider could be quick! any ways to find out who he is ? I ve searched the net to my knowledge !
