MotoGP: Rossi Fit to Race F1 Alonso | Motorcycle News

Although Valentino Rossi continues to recover from shoulder surgery, the nine-time World Champion will have some fun at the fourth annual Wroom Ferrari & Ducati Press Ski Meeting in the Dolomites, Italy.

Rossi, who signed with the Ducati Team after seven years of MotoGP racing with Yamaha, will not partake in any events like snowboarding, but will compete against double F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso in four-wheel ice races.

Besides taking on Alonso, Rossi will also speak for the first time publicly for Ducati, and the 2011 Ducati Team livery will be unveiled. But it's the pride of Rossi that's the news here, due to the rivalry between the two MotoGP and F1 stars.
somehow I find Lorenzo and Alonso similar in many ways.....and dislike both of them...(was literally dancing when Vettel won the F1 and Alonso couldn't overtake petrov in a Reno...)

      and FIAT leaves yamaha....(as expected)

            • Exclusive interview with Jeremy Burgess (www.motosprint.it)

The Australian and Rossi's team, working on the Ducati

Maybe it's the charm of Christmas, but Jeremy Burgess in red makes a certain impression. And to see him walking along the corridors and offices of Ducati Corse in uniform is an image of order that prevails in even the words, which were still important. We wanted to see, breathe, touch, the New Course - his, that of Valentino Rossi and Filippo Preziosi - in the days of first contact between the company and the new team, in moments of the first assembly of the Desmosedici GP11, in the period where you are planning a major challenge. We saw people calm but focused.

We listened to speeches lucid and interesting. And Jeremy Burgess, the chief technician of the world's most successful, is always pragmatic, intelligent, direct and cutting, "if I knew anyone really think that we are at this level, I would think that he is a bit 'stupid 'she begins immediately, knowing that this is a good way to deal with the discourse on the very first days of tests to Valentino, who did not go as expected. "If you stop the time chart, it is true that we are not sure where thought to be, and where others would have been expected. I say that we sap piamo well, this is not our real situation. We just do not know where we really are until Valentine will not be able to push.So you're not surprised by the way the test went to Valencia?
'A little yes, but the point is this: we must first assess the physical conditions of Valentino. Why is this that has influenced everything? Valentino would not have found all these difficulties if it were in better physical condition."

In the box there was some surprise.
"We were surprised, yes, but not worried. Of course, when we started working with the Ducati, Tuesday morning, we were tied to the times that Valentine had made in the previous weekend. Suddenly, his history is changed: we gathered from top to bottom in a flash. We started very quietly, about the structures, because we knew that Valentine should have done a lot of laps and then, physically, was to manage energy. We thought that the second day would have been faster, but it was not the case because his condition deteriorated quickly."

But the real problem was on the front?
"Yes, but I'm still not convinced that the Ducati has a real problem at the front..
I do not think the bike has a trouble so serious that we cannot solve unless you change the project. I repeat: I believe that the problems have been determined mostly by the physical limits of Valentino."

              Ducati you seemed busy?

"It's different from the Japanese is harder to change direction, has different characteristics with regard to the handling.
Of course, this did not help Valentino was already in crisis in recent races, let alone in conditions that could be Tuesday and Wednesday after the end of the season."

But the bike at this moment does not make suitable for Valentino.

"It's normal to need a little 'time to understand how it reacts and how it developed.
I think this is a success, and the bike is good. The Stoner races show."

But he has a special guide.
"Yes, but Casey should have won many more races this year.
And if Valencia had not chosen a tire too hard, would probably have dominated as it did in Japan and Australia. This means that the bike has closed the season on a high. "

Stoner crashed very often and has declared no feeling with the front.

"In most cases, made mistakes early in the race, never at the end: this means that he drove too hard, not that the bike has betrayed him.
He put too much pressure on him in the first six or seven laps. He fell for it. "

From the strategic point of view, that is, as the bike's development during the next three sessions of winter, you've already established a plan with Valentine and Philip?
"Yes, but unfortunately we do not have a very wide scope.
Valentino's situation forces us to start slowly, with the aim to grow gradually. So in Malaysia, in early February, we will gather as much data as possible. That is, Valentino heals.
"Yeah, because the bikes are developed on the basis of judgments that have parallels in practice and that we do not we still have, I speak of those judgments which then begins to change a project, of course.
Until Valentine will not be in the physical conditions necessary to drive as you know, so to really understand the bike, we cannot have this type of opinion."

Have already had a hand in the project, after two days in Valencia.

"Yes, but they are not upsetting the bike and rightly so, because the situation of the Ducati at the end of 2010 cannot even compare to that of the Yamaha at the end of 2003.
The Desmosedici is a bike that wins races, always fighting for the podium. The Yamaha at that time had received only one podium all year round, the rest was still far behind."

So you think that just work on fine-tuning?

"I think we will solve the problems it finds on the Ducati, as well as those we have solved the Yamaha.
My only regret is that we cannot pick up the pace until Valentine will not give true information. But at the same time they are quiet because we can afford to wait: the Ducati bike is already competitive. And I know that from the time when Valentino will return physically strong, we will be able to make extensive progress quickly "

What type of work you did in those days in Bologna?
"I approached the company, technical, and motorcycles.
We are at the stage where we need to find a good way to work."

What did you feel being with the Italians?

"Good, but I'm used to work and attend the Italians.
Apart from Valentino, I grew up with you Italians because in the history of motorcycle you have always been protagonists as pilots, builders, managers, technicians."

Do you think you need to change the way you work to follow the method Ducati, or do you think will happen otherwise?
The people I met in the company seems enthusiastic, I saw a lot of determination.
And they seemed all ready to change a bit the way they work, as it is a new experience for everyone: we can all learn something new from this adventure."

              If not bring enthusiasm Valentino!
"The Ducati wants to work hard to give them what they need.
In fact, turning to the company and talking to people who are involved in this project, it seemed to come back a bit 'in the atmosphere that Yamaha was seven years ago."

In fact there is a connection, although the situation is different.
"Yes, it's a bit 'different, but at the end of the Ducati Valentino brought a new challenge, which was what he was looking for, and then he asked me and my group to be part of the new venture.
So everything is pretty much as seven years ago: we have a new bike, a new company to work with, and a new challenge. But the level of this bike is higher and we have considerable experience in more."

The Desmosedici is known to be complex, not only in driving but also in the assembly and disassembly.

"I've seen, but it's not a drama, you just have to work a little 'more, and in a different way.
It is a matter of habit."

It is said that in Valencia at the end of the first test days of Valentino, the mechanics were a bit 'shocked by all the work that needs to be done on the Ducati than Japanese bikes.

              "I'm not shocked.
The Ducati is different, of course, and is more complicated, but what matters is that there is nothing that limits the quality of the pilot."

It is true legend of the many small pieces of the Desmosedici?
"I know it's true but the fact that this bike has so many small pieces, it is more laborious in the assembly stage, not the result of a wrong plan, but only by the fact that the Ducati is young in terms of races..
It runs from a few years, so has not yet reached the round of simplification of the work in the box, however, have reached that point that Honda and Yamaha because they are the grand prizes for thirty or forty years."

So Ducati has to grow from this point?

"The "packaging" of the bike can be improved, but we'll get there.
Moreover, we also had similar problems when we arrived at Yamaha, seven years ago. That is far ahead in some things, right?
"Oh yes, yes, but we have also optimized the assembly of the Yamaha, so it is also increased attention to detail.
And if we did it with the Yamaha, we can do the same thing with the Ducati. "

In Ducati hope you do the same about the way the bike exploitable.
"My goal has always been to create a bike that each rider can take to the limit of his ability now Yamaha is the case, and the credit course is designed by Valentino. He can now do the same job, and we can help again. "

Stoner on the Honda is scary?

"I'm not surprised at the manner in which he led in the Valencia test.
His problem is not going fast, it is probably the fastest rider in the world.. As we saw in the 2010 championship, to get certain results must also be constant: Casey was not able to stay ahead of Valentino, in the championship, although he has attended all the races while Valentino has skipped four and in many other suffered from the shoulder. Stoner is what drove beautifully in Japan or Australia, but what Malaysia has gone out on the first lap, when it was not necessary to pull in that way."

It is generally accepted that Stoner, with Honda, will be strengthened.

"It is not by chance on a Honda.
Honda has not won for some time and becoming a reality a series of large investments on the bike and about the organization. In a year you will enter a new era and it is clear that Honda wants to be a leader from the beginning. And speaking of 2011, their motion looks really competitive."

              The Yamaha has been weakened?
"Well, is there for all to see: Valentine lost, he lost me and my group, and two years ago had lost important electronic engineering experts."

Should be concerned about, the Yamaha?

              "For the immediate, no.
He Lorenzo, who is young and very strong, and for next year has a very good bike. Then, for the future, we'll see how Lorenzo develop "a thousand". In any case, I think that sport is made of cycles: a project starts and goes to the top, then begins to decline. The Yamaha had a very good cycle, since 2004, so we'll see as still remain at these levels. Valentine's Day in February will turn 32 years: in your opinion, which weapon to use to keep up with the young wild?
"The brain is important because: Valentino can use his experience, the wealth of knowledge that has accumulated over many years of victories, and of course the way he put up a motorcycle.
For at least a couple of years, maybe more, Valentino will still be able to invent something new, because he feels much the same impact that comes from this new challenge."

Obviously, you have no fear for his choice?

"Valentino knows how to evaluate his condition and that of others.
It is he who wanted this challenge: if he took this decision because he has long and very careful evaluations. Just as it has done in his career."

You have often seen, Valentino, in the past days in Italy?
              "Yes, quite.
We were also together at dinner. We talked and joked a lot. As usual."

              How did you find?
And then cannot rest as the other drivers are doing.
But I saw him very well as a moral spirit is intact, so I'm not worried at all. "

                      • Rossi: Ducati will become easier to drive

Here are the opening bars of Valentino Rossi to Ducati factory rider.
The work will be long. While the souldber will be 100% until March

The full interview to the Doctor and the protagonists of Wrooom 2011 will find us on the number of Motosprint for the occasion will go on sale tomorrow, Wednesday, December 12.

"The test at Valencia was very important because it gave us a better idea about the important things about the bike - debuted Rossi. - We have a very important job to do, of course before I do so I feel good. Surely in Sepang will not. I have to recover at least the mobility of the shoulder to feel good in the hull, to move on the bike, although I will not have enough strength. For what it will take longer. Until March I will not be in place. Valencia could not even put the tires up to temperature. Now the shoulder holds, but I do not have any motion to enter the casing. I'm working to get the necessary movements to drive. "

"The Ducati is very different from Yamaha, but also by the Honda. It is a prototype, while the Japanese bikes are "standard" transformed into MotoGP.The Ducati is ridden and put right in another way For now we have done very little, placed the riding position as I like and not much else. Later we meet halfway, the Desmosedici has to be not only so fast as it is now also easier to drive, but surely will have to adapt myself to get the best from this bike. The Ducati is ridden a bit more dirty, we glean most of the curves, however, is a motorcycle, you can change, I think I can take to be closer to me, to make it easier, more consistent from start to finish of the race . My work for the Ducati I think we can be divided into two parts, the first is to try to win the second try and improve this bike, Preziosi and his team help to make them take a step forward, to become more competitive and the Desmosedici easier to drive. "

It is the biggest challenge of your career?

"Surely that is the level of the Yamaha, though for different reasons. There was one hundred per cent fit and the bike was to be put in place, this time the Ducati is already winning, but I have to return an active driver, I hope as soon as possible. "
