“It was a very useful test: We had prepared a chassis that was the same as that used by Valentino in yesterday's race in terms of geometry, but different in terms of rigidity,” he began.

“Valentino gave us feedback that will allow us to design an evolution that has the positive characteristics that he noticed, and which match what we expected from the calculations we had made, but without losing precision. We also had a different swingarm that Valentino liked, so we'll bring it to Aragon [September 28-30].

“Nicky did his first comparison between the pre-Misano frame and swingarm and those used by Valentino yesterday. His initial comments were positive, but we'll have to check again at Aragon when his physical condition is better.

“Based on the data we gathered today, we're speeding up production of the next step of the frame, which could arrive before Valencia.”.

    • Good race for Rossi but I am very sad for Dani Pedrosa.. sheer bad luck, he deserves better, now more than ever IMO!

I loved Yamaha's special color scheme.

Same here mate. I can't get over how his luck turned around in less than 2 minutes before the second restart. His bike getting pushed to the pits then back on track, tyre warmer problem then forced to the back of the grid. On the other hand, Lorenzo is a good rider, no doubt about that. But I'd like to see how he performs under pressure. Remember back in 2010, Yes, He was quicker than Valentino but what if Rossi hadn't had that huge crash at Mugello? And when it comes to a last lap fight, Lorenzo isn't any good. That's what happened in Catalunya 2009, Japan 2010 again this year against Pedrosa. And of course, Pedrosa's DNF hasn't got anything to do with Lorenzo, but I'd like to see him under more pressure. He is a good rider, but if he can manage and win in that situation then he is a great rider.

        • i now fear for rossi, he seems to be in a loose-loose....loose all situation. what if, by the time he leaves ducati, ducati becomes a truly competitive bike...?? and next year the new ducati team does well...?? what if next year he finds that his bike is simply not at par with lorenzo's or he is not able to bring results...??

Possible but quite unlikely. I don't think Ducati and turn around their fortunes in one winter when they have been struggling from two years. And how can Rossi's bike cannot be at par with Lorenzo's? They both get the same machinery right?

I agree to a large extent to what princesirohi said. In fact this came to my mind the moment it was confirmed that Vale will be with Yamaha for the next two seasons.
Regarding what Prithvi said - I think its pretty much possible. Vale and Burgess and many others in the Corse paddock have been working together to improve the bike. There must have been innumerable inputs and suggestions especially from Vale and Burgess. Now, it looks as if Ducati was unable to capitalise on these inputs. However, with AUDI coming on board there is a high possibility that things might speed up and they might want to catch up on all that they couldn't in the last 2 years.
Now the following is a wild thought from my mind - To me it looks like someone is doing it purposely to diminish Vale. I mean look at the way things went. For almost 2 seasons they were unable to provide what Vale wanted and eventually find a good setup and now suddenly they find a good setup for the bike, with the updated chassis and swingarm and we saw the result at Misano. May be it's not a sudden change and it might have come from the efforts taken in the last 2 years but still. I mean whats going on ? Of course even I am a Vale fan and more than happy to see Vale back on the podium but still can't stop these things from coming to your mind.
Now we folks can only wish and hope that (what Prithvi said) is true ....

              Sorry for the long post...

Rossi's seat is taken by Andrea Dovizioso who is currently riding Tech 3 Yamaha.... He is a former Factory Honda rider.....

Andrea Dovizioso will be pairing up with Nicky Hayden next year for Ducati factory team.

I think they have actually found speed. But how much?..that will be clear in the next few races. using the new chassis at Misano, where it was already tested before is different and whether it makes the bike fast everywhere is another thing. But will come to know..as you say.. "in the next few races"

I personally don't feel any insecurity, and as Rossi said he would feel happy if the rider's (on Ducati) next year can benefit from his past work on the bike.
He's nearing his career end in MotoGP so might as well enjoy it on podium rather that struggling for 4th 5th or any other spot further down. The good thing is that with Stoner gone even if he's given a slightly inferior bike, he still as the 2nd spot to fight for..unlike now where he doesn't know where he's going to finish when the race comes to a finish.

There can be many ways for Rossi's bike not being at par with Lorenzo. The one thing we all know by now, Rossi is Yamaha's 2nd rider next year. Any technical updates may or may not be used on his bike depending on whether they feel he should have it or not. And Yamaha can give millions for reasons to Rossi for their actions. So there is no way Rossi or anyone can be sure if it's exactly the same bike as Lorenzo's even if it's in the contract or whatever.

And just like you feel about Ducati's last podium..I feel that Ben's performance till the last race was not simply bad luck. I had in mind that for some reason Spies would not finish the Leguna Sec race. And I feel hard to believe that lightning struck the same person on the grid several times this season.

                            • Yes, Spies has terrible bad luck this year with bad starts, suspension problems and the engine letting go. Remember how he beat Haga in SBK in 2009 in his Rookie year? He has made few errors this year and other DNF's were not his fault at all. I hope that He'll have a better 2013 on the Ducati.
