It was awesome to see bikes back on track.

But i couldn't access the Live Timing on the MotoGP website. Earlier by just signing in i could see the live timing. Now it asks to purchase the video pass to even access live timing!

The new MotoGP website is a major mess!

I thought the same yesterday and was a little bit annoyed over that as well. But one of friends wrote into Customer Support and they replied that there were some backend issues with the live timing. It will still be available for free as soon as they fix the issues.

Thanks a lot for the clarification. I had spammed their FB and Twitter with complaints the entire evening yesterday

I should write an apology i guess

Actually hold that thought. The new live timing is completely horrible. Has way lesser info now. Only updates once every 30 seconds and shows only 15 riders.

I don't know what's wrong with MotoGP (and F1). It's like they want to piss off their audience and drive them away. Forcing people to buy a 150 Euro annual package just to follow proper live timing is pretty atrocious.

              /endrant

FP3 was extremely competitive. Top 18 covered by 1 second. I'm sure there would be a lot of surprises in both Q1 and Q2 today.

Yes i saw it yesterday. Pathetic. I have no reason anymore to log onto the MotoGP website. Streaming only for me now!

But what a fantastic FP3 that was, heart in the mouth. If that is practice how good will qualifying be today!

Hope the Ducatis last the race and some of the the Open class and Suzukis cause a few upsets atleast in the first half of the race. It would be good fun to watch Rossi on the hard compound tyre reeling in those who choose the medium compound. Marquez will probably disappear after the first few laps. Hope that doesn't happen though.

What a start to the season we are having. Amazing!

mate, live timing is free, you just have to log in...yes it's not as detailed as earlier though.

also, it's not 150 euros for anything...it's 99.95 euros for standard videopass and 139.95 euros for multiscreen videopass (the latter's kinda redundant and a mess and not worth it imo)...at the euro-INR exchange rates of these days (1 euro only 68 Rs), the standard videopass is about Rs 6800 (as opposed to nearly 9000 that i paid the last two years), which is a very reasonable deal because you can watch in HD/HQ anything anytime any number of times (including the various pre and post race events and all the old races way back till 1992)..

great qualifiers for dovi and ducati, not the yamahas though.

Dovi is a top rider and has always been strong at Qatar: he was 4th in 2008 in his very first MotoGP race, beating a Rossi on finished tires in the last lap.

Ducati always had a really powerful engine, and good electronics; now with a chassis that (again) works well with the Bridgestone tires, no surprise they are back in business. Seeing a Honda man squatting besides the GP15 to have a good look at their geometry is heart warming.

And yes, Iannone could put up enough of a fight with Marquez in the first laps to allow Dovi to take off, probably along with Pedrosa; but Pedro may not keep Dovi's pace. So yes, there is a possible scenario for a Ducati GP15 win in their very first race...!

There are also many other possibilities though. Bring it up...

Oh me god, what a season opener. It was such a dangerous race for any heart patient.

                      Rossi 1st, dovi 2nd and Iannone 3rd.

I'm sure if it was Marc, Rossi would have struggled equally. But it was an amazing victory. Just another title. Forza Vale.

Wow! what a race! down to the wire and how!

It was brilliant to see VR ensure that Dovi wouldn't be able to overtake him on the final corner of the finial lap by checking exactly that on the penultimate lap.

I would have liked to see Dovi win but am glad it was Rossi.

MM93 will be back to rule the roost come COTA. two weeks to go! really looking forward to it.

Well done Ducati, and great racing from Vale -- "rule him out at your own peril", indeed.
That hard front tire choice paid handsome dividends in the end. I think Rossi remembered he lost the 4th place to Dovi in 2008 because of a worn out front tire, and didn't want to repeat that mistake....

The way the Ducati overtook the Yamahas in the straight looked like a replay of the famous first win by Stoner at Qatar 2007, when he did exactly the same to Rossi, times and again. This time the finale was different though.

There was a tiny bit of disappointment on Dall'Igna's face at the end of the race, -- he really wanted to win. Patience Gigi, it may not be next time because that will be at Austin where Marquez reigns supreme (and will be super motivated), but it cannot be far.

Oh, and regarding losing the extra fuel or the super soft tire, these two are really negligible advantages for this Ducati. I doubt they use any of the extra fuel, and even without the soft tire they would start regularly from the first two rows, which is what matters. Engine allocation could be more important to them now, for development; but that will not be lost so soon.

                            Go Ducati!

Fantastic win for Rossi, fighting his way through to the front. Wonderful to watch.

Dovi had fought to hard with Lorenzo and didn't have enough tyre left to fight Rossi who had wisely chosen the hard front.

Good first MotoGP podium for Maniac Joe and well deserved, though he couldn't keep up with his compatriots as they upped the pace in the last few laps. But what a comeback from Ducati, amazing to watch them fight for the win.

Bad luck for Lorenzo with his helmet woes, he would have been battling Rossi and Dovi for the win otherwise, but the fact that he was lapping at that pace and finished 4th when he has half blinded is testament to his skill and dedication.

Marquez once again got a bad start, completely his fault though. And a hard and unnecessary pass on Bautista. Finished with enough points to stay competitive in the championship.

Poor Pedrosa, feel really bad for him, now he might have to stop racing for a bit due to arm pump which he has been living with for more than a year. Aoyoma might be the one to replace him, if indeed he needs to take a break.

Good race by rookies Maverick and Jack, though unfortunately the latter crashed out on the last lap.
