Re: MotoGP 2015 Season - Updates

These people are going properly hard on day 1, session 1.

Rossi's time today is comfortably faster than his own qualifying time for the Malaysian GP, 3 months ago. Only 3 people (99, 93, 26) did faster laps in the entire race weekend than Rossi's laptime today.

Good to see Yamaha's challenging reign of Marc Marquez.
Scott Redding seems like he is struggling.

Aleix Esparago as usual fighting with the big guys.
Pol Esparago, 3rd quickest Yamaha rider, good to seem him upping his game.
Good to see Cal hitting it straight from the word go.
Danilo Petrucci is justifying his move to Pramac.
Hector Barbara too clocking in good numbers.
Jack Miller and Maverick Vinales, are doing good for a rookie.

Not really. He's quite a bit off the other factory spec machines. Running similar pace to Aoyama on the Open Honda.

The surprise of the day for me is the Aprilia. Bautista isn't known to be among the quickest riders out there, but he's still running in top 10.

Damn! The world champion tops the time sheets in the final minutes of the session. I expected the doc to be #1 for the 1st day.
The Ducatis are closer than last year. Dovi did a splendid lap. I don't know what tyres are allowed or if there are any restrictions at all.

Re: MotoGP 2015 Season - Updates

Hondas need time to get the settings right while, Yamahas are fairly easier to dial in.

Not much conclusion to draw since it's too early.

Matthew Birt reports that PolEsp couldn't pass Laverty/Honda pdn racer on the straights even after getting into slipstream.

No seamless gearbox for M1 yet!

Re: MotoGP 2015 Season - Updates

See what difference money can make in this sport.

MotoGP News - Sepang MotoGP Test: Marquez chooses

Dani and Marc had 3 bikes at their disposal today at the Sepang testing sessions.

              1st - 2014 RC213V
2nd - The Valencia test machine
3rd - New bike (compromise of 1st and 2nd options)

Details on the on models are as follows:
2nd - Valencia Test Bike - had a lot of front feel, braking was compromised compared to the 2014 model.
3rd - New bike(the compromise) - less front end feel, but still better than the 2014 bike. Braking is exactly the same as the 2014 model.

Now we all know developing a third bike is not an easy job, considering the difficulties Ducati and Yamaha have in bringing in upgraded components.
That's where Honda's money comes into action. Where other's have 10 engineers working on a task, Honda's got 100.
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Yup while Bautista is surprisingly quick. Aleix Esparago, is back to doing what he does best. Riding the hell out of whatever hardware he gets.

He has improved his timing today and has cracked top 10, that inspite of Suzuki being down on power. He has managed to shave almost a second off his yesterdays timing. Good part is they are not facing reliability issues unlike their wildcard entry last season.

All the hopes Yamaha accumulated on Day 1 and Day 2 have been wiped off by Marquez today. First ever two wheeled 1:58 lap at Sepang, Pedrosa not too far behind. The Yamahas more than half a second down.

LOL....all these while we were thinking Marc and his Honda finally got a match. Glad to see Rossi breaking the 2 minute barrier.

Maverick has upped his game and has moved upto 12th position. Whats gone into Stefan Bradl? He seems to be enjoying Open Class Yamaha more than his Satellite Honda ride last year.

Suzuki with less power is still able to clock 2m 0.486, thats a huge positive from their day 1 timing.

To be on an Aprilia is a nightmare now!

I would hold back my horses on Aprilia yet. They have clearly said they are in this season to primarily develop the bike in a real race environment, and their target is only 2016.

Btw, I'm very much impressed by the way Suzuki have progressed. They might take some time to challenge Factory Hondas & Yamahas, but given the way Aleix & Maverick have progressed, I'm expecting them to unsettle Ducati in this season itself.
No matter how bad the day is...

Of course, Aprilia is here only to gather some preliminary data and with Michelins coming in for the next season, a lot will change for everyone on the grid. But, from the riders' point of view, it's still a nightmare as Aprilia hasn't made much progress from their ART days. Their package is far off compared to other machines on the grid. While they were away, the game has moved on.

Surprisingly, Suzuki, with so much down on power and also, lack of rear grip is doing a top job and credit to both the riders too.

Michelin front tyre isn't working so well at turn 5 at Sepang. A lot of crashes.
