  • Is there an Ambulance standing ready to scramble at the track ?

if the ambulance is not in place enforcing a full leather suit blanket rule makes little sense. If theres an ambulance then they mean safety and can enforce other laws to make it even safer.

Ipersonally think that on the track the only thing that can save you is a full leather suit. But a guy riding his Pulsar 200 and wearing a 7-10kg leather suit on it is an overkill. Good textile jackets and pant will save his bacon at the speeds the 200 is capable of doing.

WHY IS THE TRACK SO FAR AWAY ? I want to be there like RIGHT NOW!!

It is an overkill to have a good 10kg suit on a Pulsar 200 on the track... But just for your information... I had a crash on the last corner on a HONDA CBF Stunner during a race... and i will make perfect justice if I say, that, i would have had atleast 5 - 6 broken bones with only a textile jacket and whatever protecting the leg.... The last corner, top whack, dint bother to close the throttle, we always go in full on... that particular time i lost the front, ended up in a countless number of bangs and turns with the bike flying over me... It is not about how fast you fall at all, it is about that bad time which may or may not happen....
believing the fact that it might not happen is a huge gamble....

GIMME A CALL WHEN YOU RIDE DOWN HERE... I WILL BE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER BRO !!!

      @ Makky:
You dun require a full suit to ride around the city or tour.. however you do require a basic textile jacket with gloves and a helmet.... but on the track its a completely different ball game....
The cost doesn't matter here at all... The concept is very simple....
The person who feels riding around a track is important will prioritize accordingly and save up for the suit... the person who doesn't will not.... its your perception of biking and how you take it...

South India is not a place where you have ghats within proximity to go and belt your bike around.... you crash there, with a textile jacket, you can pray someone is behind you to witness your crash... YOu crash and die there, your body is found after a couple of days, the authorities find your body with a textile jacket you can imagine what happens after that... "SOME IRRESPONSIBLE YOUNGSTER RIDES FAST RECKLESSLY AND CRASHES", the world talks that.. xbhp condolences your death a few people wear a black ribbon and the story ends there....

This is not the case with the Race tracks there... If anyone is inured beyond repair, and without wearing proper gear.... it doesn't end there.... In a country like India, it might even lead to people recommending that the track should be closed down... To avoid this and many more, things like this have to be done....

Now, if you ask me, dun people get injured wearing full suits??? yes they do... But i am sure most of the cases the people get back on to a bike....

        1. Come on man, everyone knows that!

2.5kms from my home, there is one. There are few more in 20-25kms range. You are welcome anytime.

        3. I don't think those lines were required!! Don't make me use foul language. I hope it ends here.

FYI, nowhere have I mentioned that I will do a track day with my swimsuit!

        • Wonderboy_tm, you are right, a full suit is necessary for the track. Its just that buying a tracksuit may not be financially viable for some people who would like to hit the track on occassion. But your comments on having a crash and dying were uncalled for. The message that you were trying to convey is correct, how you went about it wasnt. Peace.

Varun, I completely support your words. Leathers are a must for tracks!
Hence, I am keeping myself out for the same reason.
Read it aloud, a hundred times!! Also, I never done a track day till now!

                  • @wonderboy... Be clear in what you wish to say. There was no real need to use me for your narration since I never supported "no leather- only protective guards" track day ideology anywhere. Also, using words such as crash, death, body lying for days.....don't sound sane, isn't it?
                    Don't repeat.

@Neil Jericho.. Thanks for pitching in brother.

And i also get a what to talk lecture free of cost.... Dude, I seriously dun have to buy any of that... it does sound sane enough to me.... The public have always been bad to bikers.... my point conveyed that clearly....
I tried explaining the issues pretty bluntly... Truth too hard to face, i guess i have to sugar coat it next time.... I have always been clear, been around the tracks for close to 2 years now, with a lot of track days and a few races to back my words.... I dun have to explain anything.... if you understood my point, i am very happy... if it offended you, sorry i dint sugar coat it !!!!

                        whatever man !!!

I very well know about you, otherwise I wouldn't have addressed you as Varun in my post! I agree I never had the luxury of being in the track till now, but I have a true biking experience of a decade. I clearly know what you were trying to convey but its just that "YOU" offended me and also, I became the victim in your narration even after supporting the leather ideology. That is it. The end!
It is time to move on!

                          • whoa ! the argument has kinda become heated.
now coming back to my earlier query , are 2pc suits that unsafe compared to 1pc suits? i thought its safe for track use because i see 2pc "track racing" suits sold by many respectable brands.I am asking this because i plan on buying a suit for a track day and i was wondering if 2pc suits is a better idea as the jacket can be used separately off the tracks.
sorry guys if it was OT, i thought since its gear for tracks this was a more appropriate thread.

I really dont see the problem with a 2pc suit, if it is in fact made out of thick leather and has inserts in them, and if I remember correctly some 2pc actually can be connected with each other.
I'm too intelligent to the unintended, and too dumb for the obvious.

Wonderboy in his previous post has mentioned that two peice suits are fine.

                                PS: You have a message.
