        +1 to poojari ji..

the last para pretty much makes the chalenges of the hero gorup very clear.. unless and untill the hero group comes up with a good brand name, its products will be difficult to sell..

They should launch a premium product like Mahindra did with Mojo, to showcase their R & D, rather than just name change.

Interestingly, that's the current Pulsar and Discover strategy of Bajaj

Over the last 20 years, Hero has spent crores in branding "Hero Honda" as a single entity.

For that, they'll have to buy out an R&D design house (like Mahindra did). Which according to me, they can do with their rich reserves of cash.

OT: Check thier balance sheet and it seems very likely! Like it or not, they are insaney cash rich and has a HUGE network of vendors and dealers!

True, with their current lineup (of Splendor/Passion/CBZ Xtreme/Karizma) they can sustain for the next 3-4 years.. but post that, the need for some in house R&D would be felt.

The fastest way to build that would be to buy out an R&D Design house.. la Mahindra Style.

The other way would be to poach Bajaj and TVS engineers are sky high packages.

I would say that the former approach would be better.. for even if you have the best manpower, setting up a robust process takes some time and also its own share of trail and error.

Maybe they can brand the bikes as "Munjal" Motorcycles

                              after all..
                              Honda
                              Suzuki
                              Kawasaki
                              Yamaha
                              Harley-Davidson
                              Bajaj...

all owe their origins of the brand names to the surnames of its founders.
