        ROFL! I almost started wheezing!
What do I intend to do? Stuff ZMR drivetrain into an Ambition chassis and watch others run scared!

            Lolz .. Great work there!

            But guys on serious note,
There are many disadvantages out of this break up for HH bike owners.

            * This week I could not find "choke cable" for my ZMA (in whole bangalore ), imagine what will happen after break up.
            * Resale price will come down (who's interested though)

I am more worried about spares.
Hope MUNJALs ( find it catchy now) are dependent on HONDA in just RnD n not spares.

They have got to work on two things now.Sustaining the already established image with the Hero Honda brand name. And building the new brand name .But i don't think the existing name will anyways help in brand building as an individual entity.Let's see how an R&D tie up will improve things further.

A very good and safe biker not only because he can pop up either of the wheels, scrape his knees on a corner or go fast and make it look stylish but because he very well knows his limits and capabilities and has the patience to learn about others and ride safe ! :)

I believe the current Splendors, Passion plus will retain resale value due to Honda engines.. though spares could be problem later on, but once Hero group brings in a new engine.. that's going to be a big question mark for them...

Recently in one of the interviews Rajiv Bajaj said that he wouldn't expect any drop in sales of Splendor, Passion plus even after the split, but given the level of awareness on this issue, that's certainly doubtful!!

BTW..my project's program manager who earlier worked in HH, I had casual chat with him and told about this split thing. HE was telling that...Hero is too rich in cash reserves, it can out right buy out any R&D organization in the world and can get the stuff what it wants and also can buy out couple of two wheelers manufraturers.

I hope this splits gets better out of Hero.
Well if HH is that rich then why doesnt it buy the honda company itself. problem solve.

Or why doesnt it buy any bike major which is running at losses like bajaj purchased KTM.

the fundamental difference between hero honda and bajaj brand can be gauged by the most frequently heard customers' rant. At bajaj it used to be bhaiyya 100 se upar nahin jaa rahi at hero honda it is 60 se upar nahin de rahi.

am sure they will do well selling mopeds with evolving sticker jobs. but will they ever be cool? will they ever make something like bajaj did when they launched pulsar? a sort of tingling in your heart and a buzz in your palms? hero honda is not for bikers it is for people who can't afford cars. it will be a tough task for them to appeal to bikers. unless they are willing to go a bit more than just sticker jobs, which honestly speaking can also be done at a small shop in karol bagh.

If they have to be inthe market, they will have to make the spares available.. this will be in the minds of the hero boffins.. they might even step up the service quality so that people dont start running away and for the feel good factor after the split

From what i've heard from TVS people, the way the Japanese co's deal with their JV partners is that ,they don't allow them to do any R&D work at all and completely deny their participation in engineering technical aspects of a bike. They just give them a finished product and don't even sanction their Indian JV partner to modify or improve the technical aspects. That's the thing which happened with the JV of TVS-SUZUKI and it seems with great difficulty in convincing SUZUKI did TVS R&D came out with the SUPRA .Which was a power upgrade of the AX100.Adding to that,SUZUKI wanted to take over the majority stake in the JV and TVS being a fiercely independent entity had enough of it and got out of the JV.

I am sure HERO also had the same experience and unlike TVS they have made a huge mistake in not getting into any R&D aspects. Were as TVS has always been involved in racing and it used that as a R&D.So when the JV ended TVS had the technical know how and the capability to come out with a in-house developed product in VICTOR.The question here is can HERO do the same?

Instead of investing crores on a celebrity to endorse their name ,they could have spent the same money on a separate co or on a R&D unit.Instead of sharpening their skills on sticker designing work.

Bajaj knew about these things and they never got too dependent on KAWASAKI and TVS did their R&D work while racing. But HERO hasn't done either,so a lot depends on their next product which won't have any HONDA engineering in it.To put it shortly ,HERO needs a PULSAR or an VICTOR and that will decide their future in the same manner as the above mentioned models did for BAJAJ and TVS.

HERO can take the easy way out by buying a European R&D.But if they get into a JV with any European brand their products won't be cheap, as European makers will never sell their products as cheaply as Japanese do.The branding and marketing strategy of European makers are totally different from Japanese makers and they wouldn't take it kindly to their brand value being diluted.
Life begins, once you hit the power band !!
