The GT650R to be specific. N also considering the ninja 250 R n the harleys cater to completely different market segments, completely different rider segments and even to an extent completely different age segments. So I see no reason why the ninja n harley can't survive together.
The equation might get very different though between ninja n gt650R, coz they by and large will appeal to the same type of bikers !!
In my opinion, the real spanner in the works for the Hyosungs in the next few years is not gonna be Harleys or Ninja, but when legal second hand SBKs like R1 will start selling at around 6-7 lakhs. Especially in an ..... ahem .... "immature" market like India, where "most" pple buy 650 or an I4 600 not because they want n need a 600 but because they cannot afford a 1000 !!!Last edited by sukant08; 11-21-2010, 03:15 PM.Kawasaki Ninja : Because lazy sunday afternoons should be despatched at 160 kmph!!!
Hyosung Aquila : Because sometimes you need to look cool while riding at 40 kmph and you can do that only on a cruiser !!!

GT650R will cost nearly 2.5Lacs more than Ninja, thats almost twice the price of Ninja. How can it eat into sales of Ninja?
Its like saying Fabia will eat into sales of AltoK10

according to this page its gonna be priced @ 4lacs.. according to overdrive less than 5lacs. for someone who is gonna spend 3lacs he would think twice about the ninja when he can get a 650cc bike. ofcourse considering that the ninja 650 isnt here or even if it is here it would be priced above 5lacs.Regardless, Life shall go on.

4L wont be possible unless they manufacture it here. If they launch it at 5L expect the on-road price to be close to 5.5L. Suppose even if it is 5L on-road 2L is a big sum of money. It can nearly double up the EMI . Someone who is stretching his budget to 3L wont find it east to stretch it all the way to 5L.Originally posted by yellowspunk View Postaccording to this page its gonna be priced @ 4lacs.. according to overdrive less than 5lacs. for someone who is gonna spend 3lacs he would think twice about the ninja when he can get a 650cc bike. ofcourse considering that the ninja 650 isnt here or even if it is here it would be priced above 5lacs.
+1 .Originally posted by bluevolt View PostRs. 4-4.5 lakhs will start looking very expensive if the after sales service/spares are lacking. A bike is only as good as its after sales service.
Not saying that will be the case, but since Garware is a new entrant, there will be struggles.
Bajaj is known to provide excellent A.S.S for Ninja. But will Hyosung be able to provide good enough service for a Premium bike? A person who is spending nearly 5L for a bike will be expecting a BMW like After Sales Experience

Classic catch 2 situation!!
Buyer says he will buy from Gerware only if they provide good service. Gerware says they can provide good service only if they can grow, which will happen only if people buy from them.
Gerwares service will be an issue only till the free service-warrenty headache is there. Because GT650R is there since a long time, and there are places which can supply you spares for GT650 is 3 days flat, and we know of (atleast in here in Bangalore) mechanics who can solve all problems in these bikes !!
Ask any existing comet owner !
