  • The barrel touched 131 USD last week. In 2004 the barrel price was 28 USD. Food/Oil for thought.
By the way, barrel prices are not determined by our government, but by OPEC
Combined with the explosive growth in automobile sector and the economy as a whole (8%, the highest ever in any plan period. In previous plan period it was around 4.x%) and with India still being the third fastest growing large country in the world, our oil needs have gone up tremendously along with unprecedented consumer spending.
The rupee depreciating (good thing for exports, bad for imports) has not helped either. Couple that with some mis-management by Pranab da in the last budget, we are not in the best of shape.

I looked up everywhere I could but couldn't find which crude oil has touched 131 USD!! EIA and Bloomberg says that even the brent crude is at around 110 USD. And India's oil basket has less of brent and more of cheaper sour crude!! Further, rupee has strengthened significantly from its low of 58 for 1 USD to below 55 currently!! I was even nearing 53 few days back. Further, oil futures predict fall in prices over coming months. I wonder how government calculates oil prices and from where does it buy oil!!

Seems it got increased a bit more than Re. 1.50/Litre

I think the tax charges varies from place to place and also the transpotation charge too.

0bhp is probably the way to go.

Diesel prices also going up, so diesel bikes will also soon be uneconomical. If you can find one and afford one that is. !!

                            • Its been a pattern by our Govt that increase fuel's price by 4-5rs & decrease it by 1rs after that, when people will start protesting against them!!
