    Abuse of Petrol & Diesel

Govt. is been urging people to use public transport or to do Car pooling. But in Bangalore I still see single person driving Innova, Scorpio & other imported SUV's which gives very less mileage.

Rich people are not bothered about 2rs fuel price hike, I'm sure no one will waste hard earned money in that way. a single person can travel in bike or small cars.

In our portal itself, there are lot of people who are not bothered about petrol prices and bothered about buying powerful superbikes those are very fuel thirsty (My intension is not to hurt anyone, please dont mistake me) its my thought. We should start car/bike pooling and use fuel sensibly.

If everyoe thinks about using the fuel conciously, we wouldn't have to face frequent price hikes.

Why is fuel in India so expensive? In the US, it is 3 bucks a gallon, which is Rs.35 a litre. Any economics play in this?

          I agree.

But then, I wonder if government offers any subsidy at all on petrol. Its like China Bazaar's discount scheme, tax a lot and then say I've reduced it a bit for you. Thanks a lot for the favour

          .

+1. You take a drive during morning rush hour on ORR and you can see in most cars there is only one occupant. Atleast in the morning people can car pool.

Unfortunately for us all those taxes on fuel has not gone into building a good public infrastructure. So until we have one I guess we will have to grin & bear

EDIT: @ Bluevolt: Its because of taxes!!! I remember to have read somewhere that actual price of petrol/litre is around Rs.22-24 (when petrol prices were hovering around Rs.50) and rest is all types of taxes and duties.

Price Hike, Its now become a part of my daily routine life,
In every 1.5-2 months, i go to filling station and see a price rise in fuel,
and just think, why we need petrol only to run this vehicle.
Can't they make a simple water running vehicle
Pick up a ride and rewrite yourself to a new Identity.....

I guess then the petrol prices are the payment you make for that additional convenience

PS: Damn!! Im the only one who thinks petrol should not be subsidised
I am with you... Because either ways it is we genuine taxpayers who bear the brunt because that subsidy comes from our taxes... The loads of people who cheat on tax can afford the bigger guzzlers faster than us and on top of it we pay to give them subsidized fuel... I dont think it is fair... Instead of that we could use the money to enhance our infrastructure and promote the use of public transport for daily commuting...

Beat you to it. Been commuting to work on a bicycle on alternate days of the week for about a month now. 14 kms one way. Saving about Rs.100 per day on fuel since I drive an M800 currently.
