Why dont our politicians set an example first by giving up travelling in long convoys? It is high time they took a long hard look at the amount of the fuel they are wasting! If it is at all necessary to use so many vehicles, why dont they use LPG-powered vehicles instead?? Also the Government could try and encourage more electric vehicle related development in the country.

Last time I was watching some show on electric vehicles in India.....Dont remember the exact name and date. But the show specifically mentioned that use of electric vehicles wont matter much as most of the electricity in our country is produced with non-renewable sources (e.g coal), If they produce most of the energy with nuclear power then it can make a significant change.Originally posted by anirban13 View PostWhy dont our politicians set an example first by giving up travelling in long convoys? For that matter the hydroelectric power generation would be much better & cleaner.Originally posted by RAK View PostLast time I was watching some show on electric vehicles in India.....Dont remember the exact name and date. Still am sure that a "mango man"
will never bother about the pollution caused but would rather look into the economy. The electric vehicles operating costs are almost half or even less than that of the petrol powered vehicles.

I agree that operating cost will be very less but the government should come up with some measures to promote green vehicle.
I have read somewhere that in UK, Government has put up charging points after some specific distance and also parking is free for an electric vehicle.

Not exactly. The nuclear energy gives out radioactive elements as waste product storing which is a problem. Even a small matter of this waste is very harmful for the living cells. But the hydroelectric power relatively produces no waste as it uses the potential energy of water. But it still has some impacts on ecological life of river.Originally posted by RAK View Post"Nuclear energy is the cleanest energy of all" - Thats what I know

IMO the most cleanest power sources are solar energy & nuclear fusion. But both are impractical due to technological constraints.

Thanks to our government that we do not have any of such plans right now. Our politicians would neither decrease the petrol prices nor they would take any measures to promote the electric vehicles. Although there has been a small initiative from our government to promote the electric vehicles but still there is a long way to go.Originally posted by RAK View PostI agree that operating cost will be very less but the government should come up with some measures to promote green vehicle.
