once upon a time shell premium used to cost like 6 rs more than speed or power...now it's 2 rs cheaper!!.
shell's any day better than HP or BP and bike runs 1 or 2 km further per liter.Comment

in pune we have to pay 60.43 rs and i have 2stroke that mean 1l cost is 70rs god o god it suxxx yaar ,why government have too much taxes on them .i mean to say that oil compnany have lost 100thousands rs daily and the petrol pump owner get only under 1 rs profit then the hole amount goes to government.i hate the government it think about herself not public

the govt is making up the losses selling diesel and lpg by hiking up the rates of petrol only. in the international market petrol and diesel sell for the same price. all those big fat suv owners (mostly politicians) are taking unfair advantage of the subsidy meant for farmers and truckersOriginally posted by JAKRAP View PostMate, as i said the tax on fuel is a different issue
I could ask where all these taxes are going too. Well if was able to find that out, i would be a genius.
Btw India is not the only country where the tax component in petrol retail price is greater than 50%. Most of the developed countries like France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK, South Korea have greater taxes on it.
Since the revenue from taxes is used for budget projections and other stuff, a variable based tax rate on fuel (reducing taxes when the prices of fuel go up so that the price remains almost constant) would be an unviable solution and would actually put the government in a spot. So let the market forces determine the consumption.
If it gets too high, ppl would consume less fuel and focus more on green fuels. Green technology is the future and the higher prices would only aid in their development faster. Thats one silver lining on a high fuel price
As said before, the only thing that we should wait for is when the crude falls and see if the prices are rolled back. This would determine if the market based petroleum pricing mechanism is a farcepulsar 180 classic - 2001-2004
