2012 Auto Expo - Triumph motorcycles launched!

Just saw the interview of Triumph representative, the Daytona 675 at 7 lakh is a very awesome product in that price range, there's nothing launched in India till now to compete and beat it.

Depends how one perceives it Satyen; added cylinder (I4) doesn't have punch & has to be revved a lot; while the triples needs less revving & more torqy. Personally, I wouldn't say there's an edge or no edge.

Having said that, here's one small step - Triumph India

According to Business Standard Motoring the prices of the Triumphs as indicated at Auto Expo:

The Speed Triple & Bonneville: Rs. 5.5 lacs
The Daytona 675: Rs. 7 lacs

Seriously well priced!

Isnt Triumph assembled in Thailand too... and hasnt UK government signed a 'prefered' partner pact with India....

Things change so fast, a few months back Every Toms, Hairy, Dick was uploading articles and asking for votes to be branded as True Wanderer to get a free Non Valuable Brand\Quality bike. And now just because there are more options dissing at it.

Like it or not, and I say this as a Ninja 650R owner
1 - The GT650R, and GT650N are the ONLY products in the VFM 500+ cc category
2 - The Ninja 650R (2011) is no longer a product being sold so it has one category - The Extinct category
3 - The Ninja 650R (2012) is yet to be launched, if its launched at the same price point or is replaced totally then my point 2 is confirmed, and I would love to hate BAL-Kawasaki more than anything as it would mean even more lag in supply of spares etc

Having said that I would not buy the Hyosung for its novelty or brand, I would buy it for a different reason

I would probably love to own a Triumph for the reasons (just like) abhimanyu said!

That asides, the Daytona 675 is a new category both in India and internationally. An extra cylinder or the lack of it has its edge over an i4 or a twin for a bike of the same capacity.

PS: the royal enfield c500 is the most VFM 500cc bike in the market.
(Category is a cluster, ONE machine does not make a category)

I agree GT650N at its current price is VFM, but its no way close to Daytona.

I wouldn't touch a GT650 with a barge pole leave alone call it a value for money proposition. Triumph is a iconic brand with an extremely rich heritage. Hyousung? Maybe 50 - 60 years from now (by which time I will be in my grave ).

Are you really serious? VFM stands for Value for Money in my parlance. There is no value to GT650 be it in brand or in product quality.

If they release the bike here at same or increased price, Super Sport Category for Triumph in India is History .

Love it or Hate it, Hyousung GT650 is VFM in India .

Also.

Daytona and Street Triple (675 cc models, sub 800cc) would be at the display... but these models would be manufactured in India .. based on the response from the Auto expo.

I was lucky enuf to look at all the models, to be dislayed at auto expo, in the warehouse here in delhi.
