First impression - This bike should have come with a price tag of max 60K ex-showroom. 67k is little steep for what it has to offer.

^^ But nonetheless its cheaper than FZ/Fazer family, and is more purpose built. I think the pricing is good. Waiting for a test ride now.

My offerings to the gods of speed -

      - KTM Duke 200
      - Yamaha RXZ 5 speed

At possibly half the price of the KTM200, one could ride this, thrash this and buy a new one (or repair this)

Ofcourse I do understand that the Duke200 is a different league but at 50% price this is a sweet toy to have!

I have my eyes fixed on the KTM for now, but all I would need is a test ride to know the true capabilities of the bike.

And PS: I love the brand bashing that happens in this forum, especially Hero! Seriously. Gives a great insight on how well you know your motorcycling.

Very good machine, Very good price.
I think Impulse is first of its type in India.

(P.S. : I'm saying good price because last week elder brother got CBZ Extreme for around 75k)

Now if someone could come out with a big bore kit and a nice free-flow for this bike it will be a amazing machine to have. Wheelie and wheelies everywhere .

The 200 Duke (since it is a street motorcycle) wouldn't be able to do the kind of off roading the Impulse would be able to do. Not with those slick street tyres.

The Impulse definitely would be a much better for dual purpose rides. It certainly looks to be a fun ride.

The Ex-Showroom, Delhi price of the CBZ Xtreme is actually Rs. 3,000 lesser than the Ex-Showroom, Delhi price. Therefore expect the On-Road price of the Impulse to be costlier than the CBZ Xtreme by around Rs. 4,000-4,500.

If the CBZ Xtreme is your place has a price of 75K, expect the Impulse to be priced at around 79K on road.

Nice Bike.... 150cc is pretty decent but what about the HP and Torque.... this two will bake the bike complete.....

The Impulse is an interesting addition in the Indian market, it might fail miserably or end up with a audience that even the company didnt expect! But all in all, look at the 150cc options we have!
A pure race track oriented machine
A Combo of Race track handling and Street machine
A long list of extreme street machines
                  A tourer (Fazer :P)
                  A macho street fighter
                  A economical 150
                  A rural 150
and now a dual purpose 150!

                  Woohoo!

                    • Overall the bike looks good and i think spoke wheels are the best bet when it comes to offroading as thats what i have seen in majority of offroad bikes sold abroad.

I think the front tyre is smaller than the rear one as seen from the snaps, but why have they given a drum brake at rear thats the question.

My Wicked grin tells me, that yamaha will also bring a serious offroader and eat up KTM and impulse market.

For all those guys bashing Hero Moto, just look at the price and then count your options. Everyone on xbhp wants a 300 cc sportsbike priced at one lakh, but any more expensive than that, and sour adjectives start flying.

Hero moto (earlier Hero Honda) was the first company to bring in motorcycles like the CBZ and the Karizma to the Indian market. If we see Kwackers or the CBR 250R's on the road today, we owe it to HH. It is just that people expect too much out of HH, which is really a company focused on entry level motorcycles which millions of Indians love to buy - nothing wrong with that absolutely.
                        That was well said.

                        Really.. never thought of that!!

Bike looks impressive to me. But I feel the power could have been a bit more. Say a 15bhp.. would be good for beach driving

                        • Hero Impulse doesn't impress!

What do I do with a two wheeler that looks like a dirt bike, but is not powerful enough (Engine / Frame)? Can't take it to work, can't take it off-road. And is the price justified? IMHO Hero guys learnt nothing in 28 years of assembling, and if so, Honda is absolutely right in charging whatever royalty they demand. Why shouldn't they? They are already in India; why should they feed their competition? The 80's/90's are gone, and even if I were to buy it for nostalgia, I'd rather mod a Yamaha! As for the name, it again reflects lack of ideas and rather clearly demonstrates their target to be BAL's Pulsar range, especially at the lower end. With low power and high price, I can't imagine how that is possible, but I do expect mileage to be astronomical considering all factors!

I see a lot of KTM's being tested on the old Mumbai-Pune Highway... I also had a close look on it once... quite impressive...looks, color combo, exhaust placement, etc. but didn't like the extra fibre on the tank. Wanted to ride that but the riders/testers (whatever) were not so kind enough.
