    2012 Kawasaki Ninja 650

Check out this review of the Ninja650... It's nice and very informative... Though I am not sure which 2012 Ninja 650 ABS bike he talks about, this model hasn't been advertised on the Kawasaki website...

The above comment was based on my understanding of technicals, and not the 2012 bike specifically. I still want to know what it reads on the dyno, in front of clear rivals like SV650, or in front of 2011 model which I could never get due to bookings being stopped. Only time will tell what this 2012 model is actually...

Dude, you sure you got the mileage right? While reading up on the article on totalmotorcycle.com, I saw that they indicated the mileage as 50mpg. Which if you convert from US gallons comes to 21.26 kmpl, and from uk gallons, comes to 17.70 kmpl. You could have used the wrong formula.. imo.

You sure about different UK/US Gallons. Anyways, I took both figures from UK website, and used google to convert it to kmpl.

On the Kawasaki Go Green website, the earlier model's mileage claim by Kawasaki was 49 mpg which is some 20.8 kmpl. And for this 2012's model, some 40 mpg was claimed by Kawasaki which turns out to be 17 kmpl...

But, all this was removed by Kawasaki. This is the page where I saw it:

        Kawasaki - Kawasaki.com

I hope they have tuned it out somehow to get 20 kmpl atleast, because already this model has things going against it like weight, lost character with the common anal-digi combo console, headlight design, etc, etc..

Yep pretty darn sure that UK and US gallons are completely different.
          1 US gallon = 3.8 Liters
          1 UK gallon = 4.5 Liters

Didn't they tune down the last 650 for indian roads, so that we can use regular petrol in it? Maybe the mileage won't be that bad after all.

@Samarth 619: You really think the analog tacho is 'lost character'?
Me&most others think it is the best change that the bike needed!
All the changes are for the better-if you have the budget, go for it as soon as it comes back to India.

For records I prefer my Tachos to be analog, the fun of seeing the RPM needle going up and repeating the same with every gear shift is absolute fun. I sill prefer digital bars to show the charge level of my phone battery.

+100 to that. I don't see what the big deal with digital console is? Analog is a class apart. This goes to all u whiners out there who want to change the console on Ninja 250r to digital too. Plus with the analog fuel gauge for the new new 250r! what else do u need?(oh ya..! a hid :P)

P.S- Mods, sorry for bringing 250r to this conversations. But needed to make a point!

I totally agree that its a good change for 2012. I clearly admit that the 2012 anal-digi combo is EASIER & BETTER to read, but then every other bike has this combo.

All Digi console was something unique. Something like MotoGP's rectangular consoles, but all that in a practical bike was VERY RARE to see. And I identified this 2011 Ninja by this and some other strange traits. Typical Piscean Quality.

As for this bike, I want to get the 2011 model only, as I love it. When I'm free, I'll talk to a Delhi based person who booked it, about how the booking can be transferred...

Went to see duke yesterday in KTM showroom and official said N650 bookings will start from April onwards.
Hopefully bookings will not be kept on hold this time like it was done last time.

Official from outlet said Green only will be available although I have heard rumors of Black n Red color to be made available for India. Dont know how far it is true.

There is no Blue color option for 2012 mate.

I also went to the KTM outlet in gurgaon, iffco chowk, today. 250r was available for ready delivery in green. For black they wanted 45 days.

2012 650r is likely to be launched around March-April. They did not have a clue about the colors.
