I agree that Bajaj seems to be unbeatable with the 200 NS. And yes, TVS won't be putting out a 23 bhp 58 kmpl bike anytime soon (even RTR 180 manages 50-52 kmpl with 17 bhp?).

I'm afraid, but the only thing that can get TVS out of this mess and back to an era of Domination, is the Tauras 250cc inline 4. That would be unbeatable for some time atleast & make you forget about the mileage!
Indian customers would be taken aback on the test ride, as for most of them it would be their first time on an i4. I would buy it if its priced well... I really would!

In your Dreams,,, TVS seems to be conc on Rural area with their Max4 and releasing a 125 cc in this year,,,,,,,

So to the max we can expect a remodeled 180,,, not more than that from TVS,,,,

      • some companies are just happy to see their stock cleared up and peg for volumes. That's all they'll ever look at. TVS has been one of those companies which creates a splash in some segment but just sticks to that and never really look beyond as long as there are customers for it.Their progress is pretty damn slow if I may add...Hopefully something refreshing out of their stables.Putting up a better flagship will only be icing on the cake
It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

TVS was hopping for a Big Opener with their FLAME, But for a silly reason Bajaj opened a Case though at the end it went in favor of TVS,,,,,, It didn't do any change in the Huge Loss which they had,,,,
They came to a conclusion to stop the FLAME version itself, Now they are gonna use the same Body parts minus the engine ad some cosmetic changes and release it with a new Name with the Upgraded star city engine,,,,,,

So this clearly says that TVS is planning to cope up the Loss which they had so far, so do not expect any new things from TVS at least for the Near future....

          • I think, their concentration should only be more on Scooters and RTRs....
They already have a strong base in Scooters , so its acceptable/important if they concentrate on them....
But why are they concentrating on the mass bikes, when they are doing nothing exceptional in sales !!
They should now take a TOP-DOWN approach.... should launch bigger bikes, and then expect the smaller ones to be swept away from the showrooms with the storm of big bikes... same strategy as Yamaha's(see how the SZ sells, based on the FZ.Even previously the Gladiators werent doing good numbers, now see the change...)

Last thing i heard was a 200cc motor. No idea about launch date.

Also TVS has confirmed that they are working on a 250-300cc motorcycle which will be launched in 18-24 months time.

Probably TVS is also working on "Totally Re-engineered" Apache RTR's

                  • I think TVS is really far behind in the game now and unless they come up with something that completely redefines a category or creates a new one, they are probably going to remain where they are. Mostly not on or at best at the bottom of shopping lists of majority.

Bajaj & Honda with their established product line up across all categories are going to probably become the 1 & 2 in 5yrs time with Hero going the TVS way.

It wasn't so long ago that i held TVS as a worthy competitor to Bajaj based on all the concepts they show cased. Not many actually translated to real launches. Now i feel these concepts were just an outsourced job and not really the fruit of TVS R&D. They run a racing outfit and seem to offer a nice package in the RTR but thats where it ends.

I hope i'm proved wrong but its going to be a very tough going ahead for the likes of TVS. Bajaj has done an Apple for 2 wheelers in india making people want what it creates or brings in! Every time other manufacturers show case a concept, Bajaj goes ahead and actually launches/brings a product that makes the competitors look obsolete. The global giants like honda & yamaha have been forced to take notice and respond. The 150, 180, 200, 220, Ninja, KTM are all proofs of how well Bajaj reads the markets and creates its own path in the motorcycle market. I doubt if Hero & TVS really have the vision & technology to get back into the game.

                    • ^^Honestly IMO you are die hard fan of Bajaj, but that does not gives you the authority to humiliate other brands. Can we please stick to the "NEWS" rather than favoring their own brands

                      • same goes to you about TVS. so focus on the news as you say! and i've never owned a bajaj all my life. its just that i see it pulling away when there are others like TVS who could give it a run for money but are just falling behind. what ever be the reasons. given a choice between a 200 from Bajaj & TVS, i would bet my money on TVS given its racing outfit and the learnings it ploughs back into its bikes. but never mind. you are obviously not interested in what others think.

+100, I whole heartedly agree to what ever you have mentioned. The management at TVS is useless, unfortunately they dont have someone like Rajiv Bajaj at their top management

but they still have a gem of a veteran called Venu srinivasan. the problem i think is that most of the guys at tvs takes racing as of more importance and tries to make a good race bike out of a road bike instead of making a damn good road bike out of the race version bike. That is where bajaj plays the card right, they built bikes keeping in mind the idea of practical usage... and they just seem to do it right by creating day to day sports commuter bikes with a pinch of fun also injected into it.that is also what TVS should follow instead of making outright crouch rockets for the road. this is just my humble opinion. To me tvs and bajaj are equally good competitors.

                              • @Soulonaroll : Where I have mentioned that I am against any other brand, I jut asked to stick to the topic whether TVS is going to launch something or not but here people are more busy in "comparing" Bajaj and TVS. Sorry if I sounded rude, I noted P150 in your currently owned bikes, so I assumed. Period

No offense, but if you know every top notch official of companies why don't you suggest someone more knowledgeable for TVS.

I am not here for brand wars, I personally respect each as they have their respective pros and cons. What Dman has said is correct, even I want to see TVS bringing something revolutionary, at the same time I am happy to say that Bajaj products have started new chapter in Indian two wheeler industry.

P.S : Last reply on this topic, people who want to take sides can do that. I am out, have made my point clear.
