The low speed is because of the fact that RE engines are low revving engines due to its design, like using the overhead valves, single cylinder etc....weight also reduces the speed.

    Please correct me if wrong.
    Thanks.

i never had a chance to ride a bullet. The 27.2 bhp @ 5250 rpm - 41.3 Nm @ 4000 rpm sounds interesting; so does the RE 500cc engine have the punch..say like a cbr250? i didn't mean the speed, i mean the torque/the pulling sensation.

Cruisers are designed to deliver monstrous toques at lower rpm.

i really dint have chance to ride a RE hope if i get a future ride i may be able to get the point ... how is its pick up acc

as i am expecting some more explanation on RE engine power

              because cbr spec

              250 cc ... weight - 167

              RE tb 500 spec

500 cc .... damn thats 2x times bigger than cbr

195 kg.. hence 28 kg diffrence

.................................................. .. well 2x bigger engine producing just 2.2 hp more ........... in my view a 500 cc engine must be capable of a minimum of 50 bhp .......... correct me if wrong just a beginner and no hurts to RE lovers ... its just a query ??

well RE are great cruiser and is respected for its ride quality

and are their performance mods done on RE ? well if so what is the top seep attained ??

love the rear and front disc brakes .....

well just a query .. well RE products are of 350 / 500 cc producing good horsepower but still it dosent reaches top speed of a 250 cc like a CBR .. is it just because of is weight or ????

displacement for displacement, cruisers don't match sportsbikes for horsepower, but make up with sheer torque.

A CBR 250r makes only 23 NM of torque while a TB 500 will make around 42. So double the cc, almost double the torque.

RE bikes have long stroke low revving engine => lots of torque, less bhp
these are like trucks among two wheelers , can carry loads of weight with ease even uphill, but cannot speed up much

whereas CBR205R has a short stroke high revving engine => more bhp, more speed

also i feel the big 4 Japs and other big house European companies are ages ahead when it comes to technology, they can make highly advanced and efficient engines compared to RE

You're right and I personally appreciate RE trying really hard. I mean, the recent months: new plant, new riding gears, trips, launches, big decisions, etc, etc. I won't be getting this Thunderbird anytime, because its just not my style. But I appreciate RE nonetheless.

@ Raghu: Extra displacement (cc) can contribute into giving high end power (acceleration/top speed) OR it may go into torque through out the range (load pulling force). Both factors are in a balance.

Bullets are designed for low end torque, load pulling, pulling away from low speed even in higher gears. All depends upon tuning. You can know tuning to some extent by seeing the power figures' rpms. Bullets make max power at around 4500-5000 rpm. CBR does so at 8500, hence high revving. A high tuned Duke 200 also gives 25 bhp despite being a 200cc only but it won't make much torque.

In my humble opinion, Karizma still remains the good old VFM tourer that one can take anyday and love its looks too.

                      ^^ Agree about the ZMA.

I wonder how much of the new stuff on the TB500 will be filtered down to the 350 in the near future...

This bike is still not in production and will take some time before it actually comes in the market! But whenever it comes, we are surely going to review it.
