having ridden both the cbr feels faster but you dont feel the torque compared to the 500..the 500 feels (a little)slower but the feeling of torque is just superb.cbr just cant make u feel that way.its as if there's a huge wall of torque just thrusting you ahead!!its just like a mega push(come on 42 nm!)BOOM BOOM BOOM..having said that i prefer the triple digit speedo numbers of the cbr

Might be a slightly controversial point but you dont really need cruisers for long distance trips. Most distance records on earth are with BMW bikes which are sport tourers. Legs stretched out in front of you may cause your back to round and lead to backaches over time.

Nothing beats a bullet on the move and nothing eats you up like a bullet stalled . Having owned a Bullet Machishmo way back from 1995 to 2000 I can still recount those long distance journeys which were never tiresome. But I missed the speeds on highways and it was not good enough to touch 100 ever. Also the quality was lousy and pathetic which resulted in innumerable parts getting replaced (My dad called it a white elephant ). Now after having owned a P180 and CBR I still think Bullets have a charm of their own but the quality has to improve. Hope RE realises that not everyone works for Police and Army and its very difficult for a common man to rush to the Mechanic very frequently.
All said and done ..... This one looks really smashing and looks to be a very good VFM Cruiser.

And what the **** would your definition of a chinese cruiser be?
I also would like to know what exactly makes this bike look like a chinese cruiser.

                        Cool Saipranav,

Actually the Thunderbird is neither a true blue "feet forward + kicked out front forks + low seat height" Classic cruiser.. nor a honest street bike.

The Thunderbird does try to "mimic" a cruiser in some way but it does not do it whole heartedly. The Thunderbird might be a comfortable long distance tourer, but the Thunderbird certainly is a bit confused..

If I am not wrong "backsplash" probably had similar opinions.

Both have the same engine. It might reach 125km/hr on speedo but as per the manual it 120km/hr. I personally have done 120km/hr and its very difficult to hold after 105km/hr due to the vibrations. And BTW i own a TBTS.

OMG only 120 KMPH, i thought it will be in the range of 130-135 kmph.

so you are saying, it does not inspire confidence after 105 kmph, so can we do 90-100 kmph comfortably on it for hours? how comfortable it is to ride for long durations? can i do 160 kms daily on it comfortably i.e. 80 kms one way to office daily?

what about braking? suppose we are doing 80-90kmph and suddenly we have to brake i.e. panic braking situations, how does it behave?

post 100kmph there are vibrations and not very comfortable..90 -100 can be done with ease....i have done 90 -95 for long durations. braking is not a concern... atleast i did not find any.
                                160km....with ease..no problem for TBTS..its a cruiser...
