Sir - I did talk about the 125 cribs to people I know at PBK (reliable one's). I was given to understand that those niggles have definitely been taken care of in the 200. Only time will tell though.

      • Payeng Bhai!!! Good morning

Okay here it goes.I will wait for three more months (because of my busy schedule) and then go for this mini Duke.I had to make a very tough decision yesterday between the V2.0,CBR and the Duke.
My previous bike was R15 which was further pimped by Joels BB and FFE.So the stock V2.0 (even though it comes with improved drive train and remapped ECU) looks very underpowered to me.But the quality is of top notch. If any Yamaha people are going to this thread, they should be knowing that how badly we all need a good 200-250cc bike under FZ or R series.
Lets the Duke roll out and I will see how it performs in a real world condition.Payeng bhai is a die hard KTM fan and I will be very happy if he buys it ASAP and start a ownership thread.

@newxBHPians- Kindly do not post any comments which may wage a war among us.Already the country is going through infinite number of problems.

@all KTM buyers- Lets pledge that we will wear proper riding gear everytime we will take the Duke out for a fun ride.

        • My visit to KTM showroom at Bhandup, Mumbai

I was all excited yesterday morning and after the price was disclosed decided to visit the bhandup probiking (now the KTM) showroom after my office hours. There was one demo bike which looked stunning placed on a glass sheet. The bike isn't small as projected by some and has enough flesh to keep you drooling over it. Its loud too. The LED side lamps and the headlight look superb when illuminated. Also the trellis frame along with the Al swingarm combined with the ergonomically designed orange tank looks awesome in flesh. The switches and other gears on the bike feel good quality. I will let the pics taken from my cell do the further talking !

The dealer said he is accepting post dated cheques and that the bookings will officially start from 1st of feb. Also the test ride bike with arrive in feb mid along with bunch of KTM accessories. The OTR in Mumbai would be close to 1.35L.

Now, Honda will be in a tough situation with CBR150, if they price above 1 Lakh ex-showroom, most of the buyers would atleast think about Duke 200. More over, soon to be launched Pulsar 200 (i'm sure it will be priced below 1 lakh) will make things that much complicated for CBR150, might as well say it's dead before even launch as it's attacked from both sides by capable bikes, simply put CBR150's fate purely depends on it's pricing. No one will give it a second look even if it's slightly over priced. Oh, by the way, I expect Yamaha to respond with price cut on R15.
though a price war is just round the corner, but i sometimed feel amazed bt the way we are comparing a pulsar with a honda. just because two vehicles could be priced in the same bracket doesnt become the criteria of their comparison. i wd be more amazed if people have this impression the bajajs would also have a better tech or product quality than hondas. only time will tell whos emerging a leader here. moreover, if normal buyers don not understand the diff between a tourer, sport, offroader, every bike is the same and the comparison across becomes more weird.

            • You like it or not ... but the truth is Duke will have its own crowd .. if u think that R15 or CBR going to get the heat .. then think again..
R15/CBR fared fantasies ..and have lot of mass following them .. Duke real compitition is for FZ .. only 5%[guess] hit will be fared again R15/CBR
by the look duke looks same as FZ .. and how can anyone compare Duke with the rest.
remember karizma still exists and had its own crowd even after R15/P220 .. some bikes will comes with charm which can't be dulled by anything

I am a fan of the 200 Duke because it fits my needs perfectly.

                  >> Radical Looks
                  >> High on power
                  >> High Revving
                  >> Light Weight
                  >> Comfotable yet Sporty stance
                  >> Very decent Pricing
                  >> and oh yes, the KTM brand
                  >> (I think I can also add Execellent quality in that list)

"Radical looks, 200 cc, 25 bhp, 136 Kg Kerb Weight" seems to be just the perfect receipe for of "Fun + Exclusivity + Power + Mileage @ 1.17 lakhs" for a middle class "desi" enthusiast.

Will definitely book one.. but after a few months, need to get my finances at place.

                    Great observation !!!

BTW, pillion seat of Duke reminds me of a line from a infamous US soap opera.

                      Lovely Bike!!! Alas the pillion

But whats more lovely is the throwing out of category-wise % impact numbers on competitors...

                      • Alright first impression...
Switchgear is slightly different from the Pulsar... it is a bit more ergonomically designed.
The KTM word etched on the wide handlebar.
Pillion seat is bigger than the one on the FZ/Fazer.
I have made a walk-around video but I have low bandwidth and the video is in 720p .
Sounds tinnier than my Pulsar(which is bassier) but also slightly louder. The engine revs up extremely fast.
                        Looks stunning

The below figures are from a printed quotation I got from Bund Garden Road Probiking / KTM Showroom.
                        Pune pricing :
                        1,15,449 Ex showroom
                        1,29,530 OTR
                        Booking starts 1st Feb.
                        Ready To Race?

                        Booking amount is 30k
70% Finance available so Down Payment will be somewhere around 39k. 90k loan for 1 year comes to 8.3-8.4k/month.
