  • Road rage: Man burnt alive in Rajasthan

JAIPUR: In an apparent case of road-rage, a 22-year- old man was burnt to death by two unidentified youths over an altercation with him following a minor accident in this Rajasthan capital, police said Tuesday.

The unidentified youths poured patrol on the victim and set him afire in the city's Mahesh Nagar area Monday night. The man succumbed to burn injuries at a hospital Tuesday, police said.

According to the police, the deceased, identified as Dipendra Kumar, worked with a travel agency.

"He was returning home after work late Monday night when two youths on a bike hit the auto rickshaw in which he was travelling in. They were trying to overtake the auto rickshaw," a police officer said.

The officer said that it led to a verbal fight between Dipendra and the duo. "The youths were carrying with them a patrol cane. They poured it on Dipendra and put him afire. The youths then sped away from the spot," said the officer.

Dipendra was rushed to SMS Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment Tuesday.

"We have launched a search for the two youths," said the officer.

If this is a genuine road rage (not liable to vengeance act), I think we'll soon become #1 on death due to road rage in addition to road accidents!!!

    Topic Approved.

People behave as if the law doesn't exist... In the land of Gandhi, in a land of defenders rather than offenders, what is the reason for this extremism I wonder?

      Holy!!!!!
Burning somebody alive for a trivial matter as a minor accident!! Where are we heading as a nation? Dont these incidents say a word or two about our culture and heritage? For all the glorification, I feel Indian culture and heritage is grossly over rated.

No civilized country in the world can have its citizens burning each other for such trivial matters. And these are not one off incidents, we get to hear many such cases daily. Road rage is something that has now become ubiquitous on Indian roads.
      Its not always about speed.

I think the mods SHOULD consider opening a new section here on "ROAD RAGE"

            Here's another one...

GURGAON: Following an incident of road rage there was a huge traffic jam in the road between Aggarwal Dharamshala and Agrasain Chowk in old Gurgaon.

Three youths who were in a Hyundai Elantra car beat up a man who was on a bike with his wife and children after the bike had grazed the car. Traffic cops were near the spot where the incident took place but did not take serious note of the matter. The victim also did not complain to the police. The incident, however, caused a traffic jam for about 20 minutes.

According an eyewitness, Rajesh, the bike had merely touched the car. But after that three angry young men came out of the car and started beating up the biker. His wife tried to intervene but the youths abused her as well. Finally the biker left the place after some commuters mediated. The cops were conspicuous in their absence.

Anyway, I don't justify both the parties as we don't know how precious is the Elantra to the owners; at the same time, beating up the two-wheeler guy (and his Wife as well) is totally unacceptable!!!

All this shows only one thing that people are gradually loosing their tolerance & patience with justice (indirectly to Govt). As a nation we're developing towards B.C

As Nitrix already pointed in his post above, EGO, is the primary problem. Males, by law of nature (sort of), are the ones taking the lead when it comes to fight/battle/war. The society has evolved to an extent that there's constant pressure on almost everyone of us to show/justify that "I am better than the other". Especially in bigger metropolitan cities like Delhi, this problem of power + ego is at an all time high. Irrespective of whose fault it is when there's a situation of an accident, either of the parties involved (or both) always seem to have some sort of contacts! Whether the person actually has contacts or not is a different matter altogether. The problem is again EGO. The very utterance of the sentence "tu janta hai main kaun hun?" (do you know who I am?) shows the level of ego one has. Another scenario is when a group of guys is moving along in a car. They really feel they are invincible unless they encounter a bigger group!

Ego is a funny attitude, if you feel that the other person can be easily overpowered (physically), then it becomes all the more necessary to bring him down whether it's actually needed or not! This is a sad state of affairs and it is very much visible especially in north India. Even being educated doesn't really help!

Why is it that Road Rage is much more common in North India. People out here are too uncivilised and barbaric. This is the way they live their lives and that gets reflected in their road behaviour as well. Sad really.

                      not everyone there dear
but yes a majority of people don't mind getting into fights.
more so because Delhi is a capital city and the home of powerful mantrijis. even a barber of a mantri thinks he is very powerful.
so anyone who has any connection with any mantri thinks he has the power.
                      the ego reflects more.
maybe if any south Indian city harbored the country runners , properly the nearby areas would have also affected by this syndrome!

but at the end of the day it is the attitude of self that matters most wherever you are.!

IMHO, the road rage (or I'd even say the roaring attitude) is more in North compared to even AP in South.

Just not to sound serious, this is how I'd define road rage in AP versus the rest of the states in South...

When there's an accident between two-wheeler & another, first thing both of them do is, check out their damages & then start yelling at each other trying to find who's at fault; if things go out of control, they start a physical fight.

But in AP, first thing to do after a fall is get up & start a physical fight & it continues until one of them falls down & gives up. Only after this they check the damages, be it to themselves or their vehicles.

During my last trip, I found such an eccentric attitude ONLY in DL & may be in UP. But again, each state has their own amount of tale to share and road rage as such is quite a natural attitude of this entire nation that has been consistently exceeding in performance

Last month there was shortage of fuel in Chennai and there were huge queues in bunks. I waited for 30 mins to get close to my turn. Suddenly from no where an idiot came with his bike. And came inside the queue. I shouted at them that this is not fair. Here Im not a fool, so I started quarreling. But the problem is that the duo talked like as if his husband did correct and said I should do the same thing as they did. I was so furious,so I don't want to continue fighting and cause disturbance to the public. SO I let them off. If i would have continued quarreling its a problem for everyone.

Any one should try to stop the fight or calm in case of an accident or quarrel. We should have to forgive sometimes. Or it leads to some big fights.
