Totally agree on your view point as well but my view was not on price alone rather the type of bike as well. I guess there are guys like me as well who, irrespective of the budget, would prefer a track oriented 300 rather than the touring N650.Originally posted by R-series View PostI agree to your point but the 300 doesn't cover all those who have been saving for a while. There are some who have enough to down pay upto 2 or 2.5L max and can also consider something near 5L if the option is so enticing. This is a similar situation in which I was last year when I got my Ninja. I have never considered hyosung(ranging around 5L) even though I had the cash in hand to down pay. If at that point kawasaki had a street or a sportsbike (unlike the 650R) around 5L band, I would have definitely not taken the Ninja 250 and picked up the one around 5L. But that's just me...most are still in the range which you specified above.
On a lighter note I personally wouldn't mind if people are put off from buying this bike till I get mine
... Shorter waiting period are always welcomed
... I still wish Kawasaki hadn't taken off the R from the 250 and thereby the 300.

Its got more power and better acceleration than the 250, its torqier compared to the 250, its got the ABS, its got the assist-slipper clutch, its got wider, more rigid tires, better exhaust note, better ground clearance. I'm not saying 250 is a bad bike. Its a legend and leaves a legacy of its own, but it is also wrong to think that the 300 has nothing better compared to the 250. Its not just an overbored 250, its got everything that is needed to justify its higher price.Originally posted by sparky View PostGood to hear that the bookings are open. But, I find the price of almost 4L to be really steep when 250 was being sold for 3L. How can we justify 1L more for this non-standard 300CC that too knowing that another lac will fetch you the fabulous N650.
I mean, overall, what can this do which the earlier 250 couldn't?

Let me see if I can answer the first:Originally posted by sparky View PostGood to hear that the bookings are open. The ER6F is what we commonly know as the N650. While the seating position on the 300 is more upright (thanks to the handle bars) to aid new bikers/learners, the bike is actually seen as a toned down version of the ZX6R. Now the ZX6R will retail way over the ER6F and probably the reason why Bajaj has not brought it to the Indian markets. ZX6R at Rs. 5L would be a fantasy unless Kawasaki manufactures it here.
Another reason why people will still opt for the 300 is the price!!! The 250 retailed at Rs. 3.3 and another 70K will not deter people (to a great extent) to go for the 300 but another Rs. 1.7L for the ER6F definitely will. It is probably the reason why people are paranoid of the price crossing Rs. 4L. It is a psychological thing. Rs. 3.9 as opposed to Rs. 4L is still a better option for many.
Let's not forget that the ones who go for the 300 are not all who have cash at hand but, rather, have been penny pinching for years and will still have to finance a sizeable amount as loan.
Hope I have been of some help.
Cheers,
Arun

Alright, I got the answer to my second question, this is the successor to the 250. So, bye bye 250 which was an icon for decades..

ROFLOriginally posted by arunrk85 View PostWell I hope not cause I will be pretty pissed if they launch the SE after I get myself a regular white one.
, wait for them to launch it then? For me it'll take atleast a good 9 months before getting the bike, so I'm quite optimistic that the SE will be available by then

Waiting for April 10th when it'll be confirmed if the SE is coming or not. Will change my preference from white to SE if it launches and is below 4.3L (which is the most I am ready to cough out)
