      Totally agree.

Honda usually tries to play it safe by pleasing everybody which is often reflected in the styling, riding position, handling, power/torque delivery of its products. They usually take the safe middle path.

Can't blame them as it makes sound business sense.

Ulimately, honda is going to establish a price war against the er6 (and xj6 of yamaha too) using this bike, no matter how plain or bland the bike looks.

Can we expect to see a repeat of the cbr250 vs. Ninja250/300 story on a bigger scale?

Wanna see how they're going to come up with the new 600rr which is due to an upgradation. The only original cbr(design wise) which looks much meaner and sharper. A major overhaul in design wont be appreciated.

Am i the only one who thinks this "Clear image" doesnt look similar to the bike in the spyshot? Looks like somebody PS'ed a 250R's pic
              Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

I'll second that! The fairing proportions seem to be off. And according to them, it has a tubular frame, like the CBR250. I dont see any tubes

Even if we notice the engine position and the header (of the exhaust) position, it doesnt seem to match well.
                .

Man this news had me excited. Till I saw the spy shots. I dont understand why they are mostly focusing on sports tourers? Its disappointing. I want cheaper powerful supersports!!!!
I look my best when I take my helmet off after a long motorcycle ride. I have a glow and a broad grin. -JHW

in that link it looks like a hybrid model of fireblade and cbr 250.. pretty odd if this is true..

Maybe it could be the upgrade of the CBR250R along with a naked version of it as well.

Unlikely since the '13 version is just a paintjob makeover. But I seriously feel there should have been a naked variant of the CBR 250R made available.
Looks like the next stop for all manufacturers is 300-500cc space

well...as the article on motorids suggest, this bike will have a performance twice that of CBR250 and not 5/6 of 600. it may be a good purchase depending on the price point.and if it uses same CBR250 engine blocks, it can also be produced in india along with smaller cousin, who knows...??though, they could have done better with looks.

It is rumoured to be two coupled 250R blocks i.e. twin cylinder with 2 250R engines making it a 500 with a power output of 45bhp, The next European beginners license for entry level sports bikes will have a 47bhp regulation which will make this bike ideal for the European market

                            Speculated Specs

Here are some speculated specs posted on Thaivisa forum:

1- At least 55 hp on the crank.
2- Not heavier than 185 kg wet with abs.
3- A compact exhaust please and a bit louder this time!
4- Price not more than 200,000 thb.
5- Standard ABS for 200 k thb of course.
6- Pro service from Honda big wing or similar.
7- More original Honda accessories with reasonable price - even for zoomer x, they have exhausts and parts from Japan man! for good price!
8- More colour options and not like maroon etc. Fast colours man not like colours for elderly mature people like white, maroon, etc I want lava red. But my favourite is red and black of cbr600. Please do so.
9- A little bit more quality.
10- Sportier design please not like the design of cbr250 which looks good but more like a tourer. Make it looking like a cbr600!
11- Tires 120 for front and 160 for rear at least, 150 also do fine for rear but 160 is ideal. I am sure you push IRC again but no problems for that, we can change later!
12- High rpm and happy revving machine man. Redline on 13,000. Do not forget a nice low and mid rpm torque as well for city use and do not trap us on high rpms only like a ninja250 ro nay other racing bike.
13- We do not ask a race machine from you, just make it for streets and of course some proper touring therefore better wind protection then. Still, it has to be fine on a track as well.
14- No spongy shocks, little but adjustment over there, huh?
15- Do not mind fuel economy, we have money to pay 200,000 thb to you so we can handle the petrol bill as well
16- 210 kmh max speed and good flexibility/rolling speed between 150 to 200 kmhs.
17- It can be any 2 cylinder engine - we prefer v twin though still it looks like it will not happen- but not a potter again please!

Sounds realistic enough??? Then again, this looks more like the wish list of the guy who posted it rather than speculation!

After reading thru some articles abt this speculation & the Europen learner license limit for 2013, My guess is that it will be a 400cc twin cylinder.... & around 40 - 45 HP Max.....This is for the CBR 400R...

For the CB 400 naked version, the power will be less than the CBR400R.. Around 35 HP. Should be a steal if launched in india for less than 2 Lakhs OTR....... Atleast i will take it....
