ABS is a widespread safety feature. I don't think it's even possible to obtain exclusive rights to it. Of course homegrown implemetations can be patented, but no chance in hell can they stop anyone else from using a different implemetation of ABS.

A worthy upgrade to the already great bike. Nowadays as the numder of speedfreaks increasing on the road, ABS is a welcome safety feature for the rider as well the ride.

Just went through the specs of the 390. It generates a peak power of 44 Bhp @ 9500 Rpm. Now the bike weighs just 139 kgs, which brings the power to weight ratio to a whooping 316. I don't know about other rides, but that is huge if you ask me. Its gonna be a monster.

Does this mean that P200ns will also get the ABS some time soon?

Don't think so, because Bajaj is keeping the P200NS as a strictly sub-1lac performance bike. But at the same time since international Duke 200, 125, etc are slated to come with ABS, I am almost confident that the Pulsar 375SS (speculative name) will come with ABS atleast as an option. In the end it all depends on what ABS costs extra to the manufacturer.

What I can say for sure is The Bajaj / KTM factory in Chakan will need more ABS units than the TVS factory does in Chennai. So they might as well cut out a better deal with Bosch (Nasik) and source all their ABS units for cheaper than what TVS is managing to . Win Win Win situation for everyone.

In simple words, there is no harm in offering ABS as an option on P200NS and even the P220 (if possible).
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Looks like Bajaj and KTM read/liked my signature

I've always felt that ABS has a lot to offer to the biking in general...

I guess KTM might go for Combined ABS (like in Honda). and Bajaj can build their ABS for individual wheels(Like TVS), to make it cheaper...
Any way, good news for indian bikers..... we are getting affordable, safe, high performing bikes, which we could just dream of,5 years back.

I would love if KTM introduces Combined ABS. It would be plain awesome and beat the hell out of the other rivals.

Instead of combined braking I'd like ABS with EBD.

But wouldn't it be costlier than the C-ABS?

its a good thing that all KTM bikes will have ABS in future, but unlike honda, there should be an option to switch it off just like TVS. also, won't this make existing duke customers feel cheated.

An upgraded model of an existing product will always have something new. It might be an existing technology or an entirely new one. It doesn't mean that current owners should feel cheated Otherwise, there never will be any upgraded models, only absolutely new motorcycles

ABS, though very useful, increases the price of a vehicle. KTM had to make sure that Duke 200 being a new motorcycle from ground should be successful. Since it is now quite successful, KTM can now put ABS in it and manage to increase the price of its motorcycle without worrying about its success. ABS is slowly becoming a standard feature and adds a great value to any motorcycle. I might as well add that it makes a manufacturer look sensible (in some way). So KTM had to do it sooner or later. Also, we should understand that being a 200cc motorcycle it is not too risky to not have ABS, unless one is a total noob in braking!
