upgrading any existing model is good, if the model has been in sale since long ago, but upgrading a model, which is so new, will definitely make a few existing customers say-"i should have waited a little bit longer". it only means KTM had it in their minds even while launching the current model. thats all i wanted to say.anyway, its good. what remains to be seen is --- at how much price hike..??

I am not sure that the 125 will ever be launched in India as it would cost quite a lot compared to other bikes in the segment.

True that. Duke 125 and Duke 200 I think cost almost the exact same to manufacture (Duke 200 has a slightly larger amount of metal used in the engine and no other extra cost). In India, it makes sense to sell a more powerful vehicle if its only slightly more expensive. Would ANYONE be willing to buy Duke 125 @ 1.4L OTR when Duke 200 is 1.5L OTR ?

125 may cost more! some tech talk:

Duke 125 uses two eaton pumps for its forced lubrication Vs one rotor pump in 200
Clutch is hydraulically operated in 125 Vs the mechanically operated D200

If that is the case, the only possible way we'd see the Duke 125's block in India is if they launch it in Pulsar 125 NS to succeed Pulsar 135 LS...

Before the launch of 200 ns,and 125 st,I thought that 125st will be having the bore of 125 duke.Wished 125st had the chassis of duke for awesome handling. That would have made st a fuel efficient city bike with loads of fun!

the engine of duke125 will never find its way on a bajaj bike...reason it will bump up the cost of a 125cc bike so much that it might cost almost if not more than a 150cc bike

the performance will be comparable to the pulsar150cc and may be more..the entire pulsar lineup will then be in a mess

thats why they wont make a duke125 then a duke 150 then a duke 180 then a duke 200 and then a duke 220 and hen a revamped duke 200

if the new 100cc costliest bajaj bike finds positive reviews..bajaj might think to take such a risk but its a distant possibility

The Duke 125 in its 'restricted for EU' form already pumps 15 Ps i.e., power equal to the Pulsar 150 (2 Ps less than R15). With the restriction removed, its good for 18 Ps and a good 125kmph true top-end (Duke 125 owners from France have unrestricted and Dynoed it). If you noticed, this 18Ps is *more* than the power generated by CBR150R, R15, P180, Apache 180, Karizma and ZMR.

So the question is, are you willing to buy an 18Ps KTM for 1.1 lac ex-showroom (slightly less than R15 and CBR150R) when a 25Ps KTM is available for 1.25lac Ex Showroom?

Of course BAL can choose to shave 35-40k off this pricetag and launch a P125 with 17 horses, 3 spark plugs and a carb in the 200NS chassis. But would you buy this over the torquier A/P180? What if it returns 5-10 kmpl better than P180 (its a 125 after all)? Believe me, the decision is harder than you think, and nothing but govt. intervention (in the form of stricter emission norms and higher octane petrol) can make BAL take the leap of faith. But at least they are prepared for that eventuality beforehand.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Dont know about others but I wiil. There is perimeter frame, petal disk brakes, monoshock, better front forks, updated looks, better fuel efficiency, smoother and more reliable engine and more power .
