KTM Duke 390, 200 and 125 get ABS: xBhp News

People here in India are beginning to experience & love Power & speed more than ever. The hunger is just evolving
.
Even if they did get the 125 Duke, presently owning the 200 & people who can afford owing the 200 or 390 will not likely see down for a 125. & besides, what the Auto market aims here is to achieve a package with economical standards on a 100-150cc bikes (mileage, price & all ) with a bit of added power to impress.
But as Antz mentioned, it's not an easy thing to come out with something w/o going thru it for more than a 100 times. India is a growing market for bikes & cars as almost all are now interested in setting up/trying out here to have an establishment. So we can just hope that in the coming future, the speculations, the desires, etc.. might see some light.

this is good and bad. good because ABS is always welcome, but existing owners may feel cheated. what is the logic in launching a ABS version so soon after initial launch. they should have launched the bike initially with ABS.
anyways better late than never, so this ABS can be switched-off or it will be permanently on. and is there an option to purchase a non-ABS duke200 or all the bikes will be ABS only.

What update timeline do you feel is more appropriate then? The one followed by Hero?? Don't they have the right to upgrade the bike even 2 years after launch? And anyways, I am sure the existing owners won't feel cheated. The 2013 Duke has been updated on many KTM EU website for months now (ever since the 2 extra colours were added and prices were raised). The existing owners would have already checked those pages by now.Originally posted by princesirohi View Postthis is good and bad. good because ABS is always welcome, but existing owners may feel cheated. what is the logic in launching a ABS version so soon after initial launch. they should have launched the bike initially with ABS.
Anyways, the only reason why the 2013 version is getting ABS is because it has been made mandatory on bike in the EU. The other change in the 2013 version that I know of is the 11 liter fuel tank (same as 390) instead of the current 10.5 liter tank.
@Somen as per reports till now, it is not Combined ABS.Last edited by antz.bin; 04-19-2013, 04:51 PM.Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

No we dont feel cheated. At least i wont until its placed in the same price tag as current duke 200. But thats not going to happen.
Although we would like if the new duke 200 should come with ABS option. And the current duke 200 owners would be able to install ABS. Is there such an option. Also wondering the cost it would take to get it installed.Last edited by Ankitvile; 04-19-2013, 05:19 PM.Code:https://www.instagram.com/ankit_himalayas/

they can follow whatever update timeline they want to follow.
my point was that, since there were already bikes in 200-250 CC category and also 1 Lakh to 2 Lakh category with optional ABS, it would not have been too much unwise to launch it with an option of ABS in 2011 itself. so if somebody purchased a Duke200 and wanted an ABS also. it was just not an option earlier.
simple point.

In 2011, the Duke was an experiment - whose future was yet uncertain. At that point, they wanted to introduce a VFM proposition. The success that followed the initial launch did increase KTM's confidence in the product, and hence the update. The hike in price for the 2013 version is yet to be known, but yes, it'd surely help them if they can keep the cheaper non-ABS version alive in the market just for the simple reason that average joes will always prefer the lower-priced models.Originally posted by princesirohi View Postthey can follow whatever update timeline they want to follow.

simple point.Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!
