Re: Pulsar 200ss Launch !!
An article by motorbeam on new aspects of Pulsar 200 SS
10 Things You Need To Know About Pulsar 200 SS –
1) The Pulsar 200 SS will be fuel injected. Unlike the 200 NS, Bajaj won’t cut costs on the method of fuel delivery.
2) The Pulsar 200 SS will use the same 199.5cc, single-cylinder engine with three spark plugs. However power output will see a slight bump. The Indian model will produce 23.70 PS of power which is marginally more than the Pulsar 200 NS’ 23.52 PS. Globally the fuel injected Pulsar 200 produces 24.4 PS of power.
3) There is no ABS. Bajaj Auto won’t offer ABS even as an option.
4) Only one variant on offer. Just like all Pulsar models, the 200 SS will come in just one standard variant.
5) The Pulsar 200 SS will be priced at Rs. 1.35 lakhs. This is the on-road price as revealed by a close source. It might vary marginally. Thus it is cheaper by Rs. 45,000/- in front of the KTM RC 200.
6) The upcoming Pulsar 200 SS will become the fastest Pulsar on sale when it is launched later this month. Despite the added weight, Bajaj claims it to be the fastest Pulsar.
7) Not very pillion friendly. The Pulsar 200 SS has an uncomfortable rear seat and there is not much place to sit.
8) Bajaj is still contemplating names and is considering Sports Racer, Racer Sports, Super Sports among others. The SS moniker is most likely to be used though.
9) The bike is loaded. The fibre bodied Pulsar gets a host of equipment as standard including projector headlights, LED daytime running lights (which need to be turned on) and the likes.
10) Lots of part sharing with the 200 NS. The 200 SS employs not only the same engine but also the same chassis, wheels, tyres and instrument cluster.

Loved the look of the NS, so that i even planned to buy it. But hate the multi layered design of the SS. Looks too big and disproportionate imo.

Re: Pulsar 200ss Launch !!
Good news (from 400SS POV) , since we know bajaj has been testing an SS with ABS, it means that bike was 400SS. so it also means 400SS launch is also very near, may be along with 200SS.Originally posted by emm View Post....

Bad news (from 400SS POV). how can 200SS claim to be fastest pulsar in presence of 400SS. either the above mentioned sentence is wrong or there is considerable time difference between the launch of 200SS and 400SS, and 200SS will be launched first and 400SS will be launched much after.Originally posted by emm View Post...
6) The upcoming Pulsar 200 SS will become the fastest Pulsar on sale when it is launched later this month. Despite the added weight, Bajaj claims it to be the fastest Pulsar......
strongly disagree. i have seen the test mule and have sat on it. the pillion seat is similar to 200NS although the height difference between rider and pillion seat may be more than NS, alongwith a slight change in angle of inclination. but it does not make it uncomfortable.Originally posted by emm View Post...

Re: Pulsar 200ss Launch !!
That's what the website says.
When i saw the recent 200SS photos couple of pages before, I noticed there are no grab rails for the pillion like what we have in the NS. It looks(atleast from those pics) the pillion is having no support other than to grab the rider like that on R15. May be that's the reason they have told that.

That is Motobeam shit. Sorry for the language. These sites will write anything to get the hits. Take every news from these budding sites like Motorbeam and Motoroids with sackful of salt.
They always jot down points like these before a launch, get the hits on their sites and when the actual product is launched they draw a puppy face and pretend as if their source has gone underground or the source actually was working at a different plant.
Fuel Injection or Carb, remains to be seen. These guys don't know much than what you and me know. They just speculate everything under the sky and then retract. As with a new movie release this is a publicity stunt by these sites to make hay while the sun is shining.
We all know Bajaj undercuts the price estimate by a huge margin. From what I read and heard, 200 ss price will barely touch 1 lac with hardly 5 to 10k difference between it and NS. Can Bajaj afford to give fairing and fuel injection at that difference ? They are very much capable of doing that.

Re: Pulsar 200ss Launch !!
eh.. I am not sure if that is even close to possible to keep it under 1L.. IMO, it will cost anywere around 1.1L to 1.15L competing with R15.. by keeping it under 1L, what will be their justification on overcharging the 200NS owners?? that sounds like a rip off of the customers in case they manage to keep it under 1L which is again "Not a Practical" scenario if you ask me..Originally posted by chinmayakar View PostWe all know Bajaj undercuts the price estimate by a huge margin. +1 to that.. I gotta agree and this is my personal opinion.. after seeing the P400SS in AE2014, I kinda fell for the P200NS design.. looks more proportionate as compared to the huge looking P200SS..Originally posted by christo View PostLoved the look of the NS, so that i even planned to buy it. Re: Pulsar 200ss Launch !!
Hi, that was ex-showroom I was talking about. 200 NS ex-showroom is below 1 lac, and what I meant was SS will touch or slightly exceed 1 lac. Yes, on-road could be in the range you mentioned. But overall there will be a difference of 10-15000 between the 2.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View Posteh.. I am not sure if that is even close to possible to keep it under 1L.. Most of us expected RC390 to be in the range of 2.3 to 2.4 lacs. Same when Duke 200 and Duke 390 was launched. Any new product Bajaj launches it gives a pleasant surprise on the price.Last edited by chinmayakar; 11-04-2014, 02:09 PM.
